I just bought this speaker a few days ago in the blue version. I love the speaker. It sounds great. It is super loud. It is 40 watts i believe. It is actually too powerful for my little apartment. I still love it. It feels so solid and of the highest quality. The app works without any glitches. Out of a 10, I give the speaker a 9.
That's exactly what they told me when i was trying to get the wonderboom to, But i later went to the UE Sight and i was able to order it right away, it didn't ship until 3 days later but at least it wasn't 2 months like Amazon was saying. You've probably tried that already but i just wanted to put it out there ;)
DLX Willington I just bought this speaker today and you can turn off the lighting completely and choose a single light color with "chill , calm, bulb etc. "in light effect behaviors. Making this in a warm setting just choose a warm orange or amber with calm effect and there is not strobing just mellow light.
i don't care all this new age of rbg lights and crap. i would get the speaker for the brand name , i have always loved stuff from Sony . that's why i would get this Bluetooth speaker.
Hello my friend DLX Willington: I had the light of my Sony SRS XB40 permanent and stable, meaning no flashing, no DJ, no lighting effects, nothing but just a one color, stable light. But a couple of days ago I touched it something and now I can’t leave just the way I had it. I tried Sony Music Center and Fiestable, they offer “Raven”, “Cold chilling” and many other lighting options, but I don’t see any option to leave the light stable, one single color, no effects, no flashing, nothing else but just a simple stable light. How can I get that…? I thank you in advance for your help. Best greetings from Charlotte, North Carolina, Jose.
I don't really care much for the light show, but I like the fact that it is a unit that is similar to the XB3, but with a larger cabinet and larger drivers...it can battle larger competition...
You can combine up to 10 devices which are compatible with the Wireless Party Chain function. helpguide.sony.net/speaker/srs-xb40/v1/en/contents/TP0001385990.html
Great video again! I'm exited with this speaker. Please can you compare it to the XB3 as I'm thinking if I should upgrade and is there a big difference between them? Sony speakers are always getting better...
DLX Willington thankyou so much, how low the volume,20 30 40 percent volume?and also if the device automatically reduce due to low battery if you turn of and on again it will back to full volume again?
+Aldrin villarta B. The volume will be reduced to about 30% and turning the speaker off and on doesn't fix the problem. You have to plug it in turn it off and back on for the volume to come back to normal.
I like the lights but I think the pulse 2 and new pulse 3 does a better job. On the Pulse 2 you have JBL prism which catches color with the camera on the back of the speaker.
While that's true you got to love th feature on the JBLl pulse. The new one is IPX7 waterproof that means you can submerge it, and it has 3 drivers for 360 sound and 360 light show.
Hey Willington, i heard that Sony launched a new XB41 an upgrade to XB40. The XB41 is going on sale this spring i can't wait to see how it perform over the XB40 and should i upgrade to XB41 or after the launch of XB41 is the XB40 price go down or not, So can you please make a video comparing them as soon as possible. And could you please tell me from the specs sheet that which is more powerful from them because XB41 has smaller drivers than XB40 although the size to XB41 is bigger. This would be a great help please help me out. And you are doing a great job very soon you have your RU-vid Gold Play Button.
Hello DLX Willington: Thanks for this interesting video, Zi own that speaker. I have the following question for you: how do I keep the light stable, permanent, without fading or flashing...? Should I ise “Fiestable” App...? if so, what exactly I do it...? Thanks in advance for your help. Best greetings from Charlotte, North Carolina, Antonio Machado.
Hi dlx i allready had xb40 from sony world. In my test with xbass and lights on and the volume about 75% i was able to get 8 hours and 30 minutes of continues playing before the battery is about 50% and the volume doesn't get low it stay at 75% volume, one hour more still the volume stay at 75%.In that case i discontinued my test due to other thing to do,overall im satisfy about the battery life and the sound quality.
Aldrin villarta B. Thank you so much for this! I am actually so conflicted whether to get the XB40 because I've heard that at 50% battery, it reduces the volume
if you use the xb40 at 100% volume after 50% battery life and about 4 hours of playing it will reduce the volume to low, just maintain the 70 - 75% volume and it will not cut you're volume until 20%..Dont use songpal because if you use, the volume on the songpal gets lower in every battery percentage by just a little.
Anil T. nope it wont i have an xb40 and i usually use it 100% volume and mine gets thid battery thing on 20% i have never got it at 50%! and anyway i recommend to buy it it is really nice. and if you use eq in the song pal app and in a normal music player it is even better!
Dániel Tóth I bought it and returned it months before because mine was old model which had 50% volume problem you might got 2017 new model which don't have 50% battery thing
Sounds rather dull to my ears. This vs. the Bose SoundLink Mini II. lol I think both the XB3 and Charge 3 are far better sounding than this especially in the low bass areas. Flip 4 might even be interesting. The sound is more on par with some of the UE products such as the UE Boom II or Megaboom.
Megaboom is crap. Obnoxious mid focused sound with not very good bass. It's loud but the Xtreme is just as loud and has better bass and highs. I am very interested to see how this XB40 compares to the Xtreme though!
BOSTONTHEKIDRS 23 The sound and build is great I just bought it and I use it outside camping and inside in office and it loud and nice base.. the lights are an extra option they can be turned off or you can choose one color or behaviors on the Sony app. Just a little trick up its sleeve when u do have that Christmas party flip on the red light, Halloween party orange light st patty that green light you get the idea. Cheers love this speaker!
djlobb I think that's not true. Sony also claimed that the Bluetooth frequency responce of the XB3 is 20hz-20,000hz which is not true. I tested it and the lowest that it can get is 50hz. If you go lower, the speaker will make wired noises.
The only frequency response I could find was for the Bluetooth spec. 20Hz-20KHz Which checks out because the XB40 does support LDAC which plays beyond 20KHz, showing that figure means nothing however if the speaker drivers sonically dip off past 18KHz and below 60Hz etc. It's just confusing for anyone on the spec page of the product.
