Renato Ramos de Oliveira Correia Like What? I can think of one instance when gamers have asked for something and Sony has dragged their feet - and that’s backwards compatibility. But even then, it’s not a feature unanimously requested
This is easily one of the top five moments in all of gaming history. So important. Had Sony went with Microsoft's direction, gaming as we know it would've changed forever. Sony went the opposite route and forced Microsoft's hand at the same time. This was really glorious for gamers here.
This conference pretty much shaped the entire generation. Microsoft had to completely change the X1 after this was announced. Was pretty extraordinary.
JellyRollDiver how if sony never put that in their conference Microsoft might of not changed there policy then sony would of got even more sales but hey shit happens
2 years later the burn is still hot. You know you've done right when grown adults, professional gaming journalists, start acting like kids and drunken college frat boys.
Even six years after this, I still remember this moment. I was working at GameStop at the time, me and my coworker were watching this moment, and this line hit. This line, so stark in contrast to the response a submariner got when questioning a Microsoft spokesperson about what a potential customer should do if they didn't have online access and being told to stick with the 360, made all the difference when Sony made their presentation slam dunk. Still the best capitalization on the absolute failing of a company that didn't understand their customers and I love it.
Prexto Zex It was debated during early development of the PlayStation 4, but it was decided not to do because of a thing called caring about the consumer.
Prexto Zex That was because they had to, it was expensive to manufacturer (it had PS2 hardware along with the PS3 for backwards compatibility) hence the redesigns and subsequent price drops.
Prexto Zex The fact you have now failed to provide any case leads me to assume you have run out of arguments, not that you had any in the first place. Also, Sony isn't in caps.
Prexto Zex This is just in the US and Canada, and to be fair PS+ is still worth a lot more considering it gives you free games for PS4, PS3 and PSVita. And it is still cheaper than Xbox Live if you were to buy a years worth, this is just for the three month and one month version. This change was done to reflect the changing market conditions because PS4 consoles are in increased demand.
Bedbug182 they wouldn’t have lasted a month with their original model, it would’ve ranked so bad they would’ve stepped down from the Xbox brand entirely
Its ironic that Microsoft was so butthurt by this, they decided to just buy out game developers and build up games as a service at a huge loss until their entire Xbox ecosystem is about renting and not owning anything.
@@trey7911 360 had a 1 year lead being out on the market and STILL LOST to Sony AND Nintendo. Millions of gamers bought 2 or 3 360 consoles because they got Red Rings outside of warranty which cost Microsoft $1 Billion. PS3 STILL OUTSOLD the 360 worldwide and PS3 was the lead development platform for multiplatform games in the second half of the generation once developers got a better hang of the PS3 SDK. AGAIN, Sony NEVER lost the crown to Microsoft. Even Nintendo knows what it feels like to win a generation by outselling both the 360 and PS3 with the Wii.
It's funny every single time you hear about Xbox gamers saying how their consoles are better if it wasn't for this they would still be in the stone age of those old DRM policies
@@TarunTechEnvironmentCC sales doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the superior console. The wii out sold the Xbox 360 and ps3 although majority of people wouldn’t say it’s the better console.
ps4 xbox one argument is no longer valid. Xbox had to go back on what they said regarding used games, and now they have dropped prices significantly which is unfair on people who got it on day 1. PS4 won this battle hands down, just for giving more support to the consumers and not putting stupid restrictions in place.
***** Sony did not raise the price, the retailers did. There's a big difference between the 2. When i mention support i am not talking about customer service over twitter, i mean in general. Facts are XBOX weren't even going to allow pre-owned games to work. They changed this once Sony outsold them in preorders. They wacked in a kinect camera that increased the price despite people not wanting it. And well, look at the prices now, they have fallen so fast, and the reason for that is because Sony have literally owned Microsoft this time around selling millions above them. Microsoft don't care for the consumers. Im personally not debating between which is better, because that is opinionated. But what im saying is that from the facts, Sony has outsold and outperformed Microsoft. A lot of people have switched from owning and Xbox to the PS4. And you mentioned customer services- have you experienced sony before? I once had a ps3 go faulty they replaced my old one the next day and i was handed a new ps3 (newer model). Having some frontmen on twitter doesnt mean they are good. I have tried this before and they usually end up saying "sorry cant help you with that give us a call".
Yasser Rehman I know your comment is a couple months old, but still, I agree. I mean I got a PS4 at launch and so far it's a pretty damn awesome platform. A couple months later I got myself an Xbox One, but honestly, I was underwhelmed with it, especially what happened between me and the PS4. I know I was pro Xbox before, but this one I decided to mostly go with Playstation, and of course re add platforms like Nintendo and stuff
This moment in history convinced me that I just had to support Sony. I had a Xbox 360, and a few months after this video came out, I got a PS3 and my 360 is collecting dust.
As a diehard 360 fan (who also owns a ps3), this is awesome. This is what I was hoping for from Microsoft. IF Sony is the one who is going to give me the experience I'm looking for, then I'm GOING TO HAVE TO go with Sony and the PS4. You MADE ME DO THIS Microsoft. Remember it was you, who did this.
The hilarious thing is they were forced to reverse their DRM before the console even launched and it still hurt their sales dramatically. That's what happens when you're anti consumer and your leading competitor isn't.
Microsoft: Look at this new version of Kinect, Killer Instinct, and more *crickets* Sony: Used Games *Loudest Roar Ever* Joking aside, absolute flex. Ended that generation's console war before it even began
1. announce ff7remake and shenmue 3 2. announce ps4 price is less than xbox1 3. announce sony is not doing what microsoft is doing in terms of DRM 4. .... 5. profit
I've been watching E3 press conferences for over 10 years and I can't think of a time when a company's name received a chant during the press conference. This is right up there with Nintendo's Twilight Princess reveal but it means so much more than that. Sony just stood up for consumers around the world, and kicked Microsoft in the nuts while they were at it. Well played, Sony.
I switched from Xbox 360 to PS4. I loved the 360 and hated the PS3 (for the most part). If Microsoft had done things right, I probably would have gone with the Xbox One. Needless to say though, I am very happy with the decision to go for a PS4!
Just upgraded to a PS4 about 3 weeks ago. I don't seem to understand what the fuss is all about this "used game policy". Can someone please explain to me why they are all cheering when Sony said that they're not imposing any restrictions regarding this?
B/U/D/D/H/A , In 2013, Microsoft announced their extremely aggressive anti-consumer DRM policies which include: 1. The purchased disk-based game will be tied to your account only 2. The console will need to be connected to the internet to check the game’s license and stuff even if it’s a single player game 3. Internet connection was also required every 24 hours to authenticate the console itself, or else it will stop working When Sony was asked to comment about this, they refused. So everyone was afraid that they were going to follow Microsoft’s example. But as you can see, Sony waited until the PS4 presentation day to publicly announce that there will be no such anti-consumer policies.
Even if E3 is nothing like it was back then, even if Microsoft will buy out the whole industry, this moment will stay with us forever. Gen 8 was just a blast and Sony was rolling the ball real hard.
