Says a hell of a lot when at E3 Microsoft Xbox One price announcement was met with absolute silence, could probably hear Don Mattrick let one go, whereas Sony PlayStation 4 price announcement (to say the least) was met with thunderous applause and joyous surprise. PS4 is winning today because of decisions made and announced a year ago. Xbox One having pick of the games right now is highly debatable. But we all know PS4 is going to have a superior library *with* far superior ports....And it's significantly cheaper with brand history and identity for plentiful quality games I mean who in their right mind would buy an Xbox One over the PS4 ?? Get more for less with PS4 and that's simple economics.
Thommo Hawk Exactly! They screwed it up really bad, with their used games policies, DRM, always Kinnect, and one of the administrators admitted that 360 is the way to go without Internet. And even worse, their E3 presentation focused on their media apps. That gave the Xbox One a terrible look, boosting up Wii U sales, and PS4 pre-orders.

Whereas Microsoft thought they could rule the roost over this business which they have zero success or experience in and it shows. Yeah I felt bad for him. I don't think anyone was asking for Peggle 2 (though Peggle isn't a bad ip) and that jump probably made the audience laugh more than it made them excited.
I can just imagine that moments before Sony was about to give their conference they said: “guys forget everything. Take exactly what Xbox said and do the exact opposite And make it $100 cheaper. OK we good, huddle break.”

Which is why I bought a Wii U instead. I have never had a full moment with this system. I'll have to get a PS4 to play with some of my friends and for those exclusives, but overall, I'm happy with the great games on the Wii U.

Microsoft's blatant greediness regarding the Xbox One alone was enough to make me buy a ps4. That, and their focus of trvial features over, you know, video games. Haven't regretted it since. The only thing I really miss is Halo, but that's more of a nostalgia thing. Other than that, in terms of hardware and exclusives the Xbox just doesn't have anything to offer.

SoundtrackOfGaming Halo is not what it used to be. 343 industries killed the franchise. Halo 1 to 3 was all good hype. Halo 4 died off pretty quickly. Halo 5 won't be an exception. Halo 3 had the big install base on 360 back in 2007, with Xbox One's install base Halo 5 won't have the same impact as Halo 3 had.What is pretty funny when I go back and watch the PS4 launch conference in february, 2013, all that stuff that was shown ended up to be true. Dreams from Media Molecule was a game and not just a tech demo when they showed it with dancing puppets who also played instruments. The list of third party support with all announcements after announcements you keep hearing from Japan week after week this year is also finally to come true. I thought it was only a list of developers and publishers who Sony had just listed themselves. But all of them seem to be working on games in closed doors until it gets unveiled.

He’s very candidly said in other interviews (like with Giant Bomb and IGN) that they knew going into this that it was going to be an uphill struggle and the original Xbox One wasn’t what it could’ve been. Like he’s still the head of the division, so he’s never explicitly blamed anyone (that’d just be bad PR) but it’s pretty clear he wasn’t happy with the direction that the brand was heading in at that time.

I’m a straight up Xbox guy through and through but I was laughing the whole presentation and when I tuned into Sony’s conference I was thinking “this is going to be amazing to looking at preorders” and it was a bloodbath. Don Mattrick, as far as I understand is pretty much the dude that pushed everything that led to this presentation. Still team Xbox but I’m not hoping PlayStation dies or anything. My best friend of 21yrs is Team PlayStation, if there is any game I want to play it’s literally a 3 min drive. I honestly thought that this generation was the last time I was going to see an Xbox console. It was 4 to 1 when the gen started and it ended at 2.5 to 1 so they at least stuck in there and kept trying. PS5 is shaping up to keep dominating. Hopefully this time Microsoft can put up a fight.
The best was when the Crimson Dragon trailer was running and somebody shouted "Xbox, sound!" I remember laughing for a good 10 minutes when that happened on the stream.
