I agree with you. I bought the xbox one in December and April 30th got a hardware issue. Im done with xbox now and the attitude he gives joe is proving they don't care about their gamers. They are in it for the money not the gamers.
I HATE it when he says "Are you a Lawyer? Are you on the Dev team?." Its a total bullshit argument. Its like saying "You can't criticise this book because you're not an author." Its total bollocks. You CAN know the law whilst not being a lawyer. You can know that it is relatively simple, especially for the dev team who created the infrastructure itself, to disable the DRM (case in point, thats what the fucking did!) Those arguments always annoy me to no end. Someone literally told me once "you can't say evolution is true because you're not a scientist." The ignorance of some people astounds me. To think someone can't know something just because they aren't a part of a group of people, or in a certain line of work, is astounding and arrogant. Its school yard shit.

There is kinda. Well you can share your library with someone like a family member. but they wont own the full game. for example they wont be able to play ranked in cs go only usual online

Even funnier watching this now after he jumped down Joe's throat, sarcastically asking if he's part of the development team since he made a "bold" statement about it being a simple fix to remove DRM. Yet they completely changed every single thing from DRM to used games literally OVERNIGHT once they saw the backlash. Major Nelson is another corporate big wig just spouting company mantras. Look at how he tries to spin every negative into a positive and keeps diverting the questions back to some dumb "family plan" crap.
While I agree, your point about them changing it overnight isn't something you can really say. What I mean is, he said it's a bold statement to say that they could flip a switch, and you're saying that that is essentially what they did. The BIG difference is that they flipped their DECISION overnight. That doesn't mean it was a 'flipped switch' to implement it in code. I'm just saying, it might have taken 6 months to actually re-code it once the (ACTUALLY flipped) decision was made. I'm a professional programmer and I can say that it's possible that there is a boolean that turns this on or off.. but in order for that to ALSO automagically change all the rest of the code that handles this they would have had to have coded it with the idea that they may change this in mind. People who aren't programmers have NO IDEA how complex coding at this level is. Hell, people who ARE programmers, but don't do low level hardware coding have no idea. So don't think I'm dissing YOU. Any of these scenarios are within the realm of possibility. The likelihood, however, is better for some than others.

I think during this interview Nelson was actually seeing the major flaws Xbox one had and how it was pretty much going to destroy their brand. Seriously just look at his expressions when Joe talks about Developers, region locks, and no internet homes.

What a mess. This looks like it was straight off of the debacle that was E3 2013. I seriously hope MS has learned their lesson, because like many of you, I DO in fact like Halo and Forza and Gears (and at the same time Uncharted 4 and God of War). Anyway, I'm hoping they take feedback into account more and more.

And now that I've waited for the Xbox one s to come out, I've finally got it, and I cannot be separated from my Xbox and titanfall 2. What a freakin beast combination. The reviews helped me make a smart decision honestly so I'm glad I waited for the upgrade and keep it up with the content!

This is one of my favorite interviews of all time. It just shows how much of a shill Major Nelson is. He knew the policies were messed up for gamers but stood there trying to spin and defend it.
Looking back at this interview is great. Really shows the corporate side of things. I could analyze this video and point out every little PR spin from him saying I like that when Joe mentions he's an Xbox guy to him trying to keep everything sounding positive when Joe says the problem is. And can't forget that infamous mic grab around 11:35. Truly a unique interview.

I've met Major Nelson. He comes off as a rude guy, but I don't think he means it. He seemed kind of rude when I was talking to him. Then again he was busy. So this post is kind of pointless. Also you got to remember, if he said something bad about X1 at the time, he probably would of gotten fired. Hense, why he avoided questions. In the end, though we all got what we wanted...
I can share games with my friend, once you set it up you can play download and play games in their library. The only hitch is that you have to be online to play the other persons game and that person can't be online at the same time. It's a bit annoying, but on the other hand I've basically doubled my games library for nothing,

major nelson was getting so mad in this interview. every time joe said something about DRM Major nelson was gritting his teeth and was giving us bullshit by saying were not looking at the bright side, when there is just to much limitations. eventually microsoft reversed most of the stuff joe mentioned in this interview but at the time of the interview people were shitting bricks.
Fuck that corporate scum! AJ shows courage by standing up to injustice. Major Nelson is a high status man but AJ stands up to him without fear and asking what's important. Truly respectable

I find it funny how arrogant Major Nelson was being here about all of Microsoft's ideas for the Xbox One and "the future", but then everything Nelson was being arrogant about, turned out to fail hahaha. Kinect, DRM, Cloud Gaming.
With the exception of Kinect he was kind of right, no? Both console manufacturers are launching digital only consoles. And although games aren't really enhanced by the cloud I'd argue some of the biggest games of this generation are games that require an active internet connection and utilize an account that really only exists in the "cloud". Fortnite, Warzone, GTAOnline, Destiny 1 and 2, Apex Legends, Overwatch, etc. etc. I wouldn't call MN arrogant, the dude just looks stressed and I can't blame him with the mess that the Xbox One was. Dude's a mouthpiece for a company but at the end of the day he's only human.

Revisiting this old interview after the latest AJNews...gotta love how Nelson just regurgitates PR speak and marketing bullet points instead of actually addressing anything in earnest. Also, physically grabbing the microphone away from an interviewer is a tremendously unprofessional faux-pas.

Regardless of how you think he did, there was no one else there to put those questions we ALL wanted answered to that suited prick. Joe was there and he damn sure answered them. What? Should he have fought with him over the Mic? That woiulda looked REAL good. You're right. He's not a polished journalist and never once claimed to be. He claimed to be our man there asking questions we actually cared about. He delivered in spades, and Nelson showing himself as such a bully and asshole contributed to the DRM disaster and decreased sales for the console overall. It was a small interview, but it was at the very beginning of announcement. It got coverage everywhere. I know I can't see Nelson or consider purchase of an Xb1 without thinking of that interview. So no.. he's no Peter Jennings, and if that's what you expect you're unrealistic. He's an indy zine with a very wide audience, and a whole lotta talent for a one man operation. Damn, give him some props and respect.

Watching this in 2020 right before the series x launch and man that interview did not age well lol they sure seem like they have turned it around for a better launch of the series x.
