Wow, what a pleasant surprise!! Thanks for doing this! I love your enthusiasm and love for CRT retro gaming. I actually just picked up for $10 recently a super old 1985 19” Sharp Linytron with knobs and wood siding. It works great and is such a cool novelty. Obviously not going to have sharpness of modern CRTs but what’s cool about this set is that it was manufactured October 1985, same month/year as when NES launched in north America
Oh dang, that's an awesome find! I haven't found any CRTs that old yet - I think the Sony is my oldest one (1996) so far. You can't beat $10 on that kinda retro goodie. Thanks for watching and glad you like the content! That night I filmed a walkthrough of Rogue Squadron on the Sony (instead of screen capture) so I'll be posting those videos over the next few weeks. I wanted to try a fresh retro take on making video game content.
Luckily my wife is on board and loves all of this nostalgic stuff. We were both born in the 80s (growing up in the 90s) so this all means a lot to us. Glad you enjoy it tho!
I've been experimenting with recording a similar style of video as this but my Trinitron is over 110 pounds so setting it up is an hour-long plus affair lol. Very nice video.
Glad you enjoyed it! What size screen does that badboy have? Do you have to move it so that you can record it or are you thinking about setting up a permanent spot for it to record it? It might be worth setting it up that one time and building a background around it so that you don't have to ever move it again. That's what I'm kinda doing with this 32" Toshiba that I have - I have a new spot for it and I'm going to build a neat set up around it for future videos.
Heck yeah - I'm going to buy some film for it and make a video focusing on that! I wanted to get this CRT video out first tho. You think that's a good idea? Would you watch a video on the Super Mario 64 camera?
@@JaWayneDude. I grew up with Super Mario 64! 😎 I'm a Super Mario 64 RU-vidr! I'd totally watch it! ⭐✨✌️😁 & Ya know what? You should try to get some Demo Discs! Especially Interactive CD Sampler Pack Vol 3! I played the heck outta that disc, like there was no tomorrow! ^^ mainly cause it's got Crash Bandicoot, on it! 😎 UGABUGA!
That's great to know! I'll try to do that one soon. I also eventually want to do a walkthrough of Super Mario 64 but it might be some time from now. One of the best games ever made.
Thank you! What would you adjust it to? I'm relatively new to this (filming CRTs) and would love to improve. One thing to note is that the settings I have on my camera are: 4K at 24 FPS, 1080p at 60 FPS and 1080 at 24 FPS. So I don't have a 4K at 60 FPS option which would be ideal. I love the 4K crispness for these videos but I think 60 FPS would be best to match the CRT.
@@smasherjosh5000 Ohhh so I need to know the CRT display rate and the console display rate to figure out the shutter speed? I never thought about having to know both CRT + console but that makes sense.
I honestly have no idea and I am actually concerned haha - I left it in the video so I can refer back to it whenever I am able to trouble shoot or research why it does something like that. Super weird.
haha sorry to offend! :P I was a Nintendo Boy - starting with Super Mario World and the SNES. Then N64 then GameCube (and PS2). I do have nostalgic feelings towards Sonic but I never owned one so I never went through the levels and never got good at handling Sonic in the game. I do have fond memories of playing Sonic and Ecco tho!
