Sony XB32 Review - They Should Have Done More

Thanks for this review! Very detailed, esp about the difference between xb32 and xb31 in terms of bluetooth range. I went with the xb32 since the xb31 is no longer available in stores, and the xb33 is 50 usd more expensive for almost the same experience.

I tried to pair the xb30 and xb31 but unable to connect them together as one :( Im about to buy the xb31 but i cancelled it due to they are not connecting

Just go out and buy the 41 it is amazing just tweak the EQ if you feel the need I have a 40 too which sounds a bit muddy but great hooked up to TV. I listened to 6 speakers including Marshal and nothing beat the 41 all thing considered. Live mode is sketchy but great for gaming...

My opinion is yes to Sony xb32 it's looks good but I will love to see a type c charging port I have the sony srs xb31 and the GBL charge 4

I bought a XB31 a few months ago. I had it for about half a year, I have got a full refund. Why? Well, here's the problem with the XB31 - IMO. There is a clear reason Sony ditched the fabric mesh all the way around. I had 2 of these speakers, and the fabric mesh cracked on both. On the second there was a battery/charging port issue. The fabric mesh doesn't take vibration well. IMO the plastic is - an improvement - but they have done nothing else on this speaker. I bought a JBL charge 3 & I am happy with it as a replacement. The battery on the JBL charge 3 lasts longer, and for me it is superior because it is actually durable & doesn't break. However, IMO, Sony's sound is just better. The customisability in the app is better. LDAC is better. JBL's app is kinda dissapointing, no customisation at all, not even LDAC ;(. I do like sony's design. If they have fixed the durability issues then it's ok. However I have actually come to prefer JBL's, because although the lights are 'cool' and sell, they actually quickly become redundant & I never use them. JBL's focus on the actual speaker, plus the extra durable design, is just better IMO. Like I said though, Sony's sound is better. But on the whole, Sony has failed. The XB31 is great and hard to beat - unless you require something properly durable. And the XB32 is a disappointment - it just doesn't cut it. The JBL CHARGE 3 sells for £100. The XB31 also sells for £100. The XB32 has fixed the durability - but sells for £150. Sony shouldn't have released this speaker. No USB C. Where's the bluetooth 5? No improvement on battery life? Their app is better than JBL's, but come on - if you aren't going to improve the speaker (beyond a fatal design flaw) then at-least get somebody to sort the app out. One thing JBL does get the vote for is all around durable, battery & the app just works. JBL is killing it - in this case Sony. In sumarry: Get a JBL charge 3 - unless you don't care about proper durability, then get the XB31. Sony has the sound but just fails in too many other areas. What Sony should have done: USB C Bluetooth 5 Beat JBL's battery life (13 hours would do it, real usage) Bring the price down. Fix the app issues. If they did/do the above, then it will be Sony that is killing JBL. A shame, it really does just seem like Sony cloned the speaker, just this time selling one that maybe won't crack. A real shame, because Sony does have superior sound.

The only thing this speaker needed to be better was type c connection, and bluetooth compatibility with the PS4s so that people could finally have a good speaker to sync upto the console.

My LED on my XB41 cracked. Can I put it in water anyway or this could break the speaker?

Do you think there will be a xb42 and do you think it will be better or worse because my xb41 is all I ever wanted so I'd be interested is seeing if they could improve it

Now compare the XB32 to the XB30 with a good eq setting... Be prepared to be surprised!

Sony xb31 sounds like distortion crap. Xb32 sounds better. Sony, continue to use micro USB, I'm satisfy with micro USB. Let the haters continue hating, while lovers continue loving.
