Thanks, just remove the backlight error pin and grounded it. Back in business, my screen looks fine, was just shutting off and throwing the code. Big help!!! 👍🏻👍🏻
Got my xbr-55x850c to come back on with this video. My tv showed no signs of issues. It just went out. Now that I bypassed the computer I see the issue. Right side is a bit dim. No worries. I’ll get a new one soon. Thank you kind sir for the info.

Thanks for the easy to follow instructions. Found a smoked mosfet, grounded the pin4, and the screen functions again. Unfortunately, my screen has a bright side and a dim side. But this buys me a couple days to get a replacement.
I have the same problem but my 55x8500d it has a different LED driver board 16ST012S-A01 that has a 30 pin connector (27 wires are used). there are no markings on the pc board to tell which is the proper wire to ground. Found the service manual it shows pin 12 as the BL err line. I grounded that line and the TV now works perfectly. Thanks for the video.
Hey, i got the same model & board. Is anyone figured out which wire is he talking about? I got that diagram aswell & it says 12 in yellow background & 21 in green. What does that mean & which is the wire to pull out & ground. Edit 2: Got it working on mine as well, commented in the main section how to count to 12. Attention viewers: This trick is NOT fixing the root cause of the LED backlight problem, it just mutes the brain of the TV system (like you take a painkiller pill) The problem is still there and will be back in a few months! (The bad side of this trick: Your TV brain is muted then there is NO more fire protection, overload protection...)
Some of these songs don't have a backlight you can buy to fix it. I want to try this but I really don't want my tv to overheat and possibly catch fire.....I'd that can even happen
Very cool trick. I have an older Sony lcd but with the same symptoms. On my Led driver board, it’s pin 2 and labeled as ld err. Grounded the line and the tv is working again for now. I don’t see any overheated drivers on my board but I do see some large electrolytic capacitors that may be on their way out. Thanks for the help.
its going to be one strip of led inside the tv that is going bad sony is dumb and shuts down the entire tv cuz of this this problem presits with the 2019 xbr series as well sony releaseing GARBAGE

Be careful taking off the back cover, I accidently pulled the electrical wire off the circuit board. Had to have a friend solder it back. Other than that this fix worked great. Saved a $4000.00+ TV from the garbage. And Sony WTF is wrong with you guys? Why would you design a great TV to crash over a few bulbs? TY SOSfix!

friend have you dealt with sony OLED TV ? can I use the same error by pass to get it working ? I have 4 blinking red lights. or does it work differently ? trying to find out where I can to disable the error so tv can start up.
Just did this with a KDL-65xxxx 6 red flashes - put the error wire to ground and it did the flash Sony then backlights remained off but indicator light WHITE and Image is visible on screen if you look closely with your phones flashlight -- Time to find out how many backlight strips i need to order. nice video. I tried your method by grounding BL_ERR, red lights gone but the TV still flashed Sony logo for about half a second, does this mean backlight is fine but other parts are malfunctioning? model 65W850C, please help.
the error code is for the lcd screen too. next check the backlight with backlight tester if all back lights are bad the t wont turns on, or if the screen is bad, check the tcon voltages, check for short on screen boards. try the tape method to cover traces
not really, the hdmi ic controller on tv will turns off the hdmi signal from the devices that not selected in the input, the only thing is there is a more risk from power surge if it hit any device will send high voltage through hdmi will kill the CPU on tv main board
I just replaced the psu because it was shutting off after an hour or so with the 6 light error, I saw the caps you pointed out and mine looked worse, It didn't fix the problem now I see your video. I may ground the ERR line but I would like to order the LED strip. Do you have a Part # for that and do you have a video of that job? Thanks for the video

I tried this on my Sony XBR 65X850G. Mine indicates that it is #8 wire. I removed and grounded and nothing happens. Any thoughts as to what I may be doing wrong? Tech was here and verified that all boards were working correctly and said it was a backlight issue? Production 2019.
I have same TV. I bypassed the 6 blink code and watched for a few months. One side was darker. Now no picture. Just the LED strip? IDK. what's up with your repair? I hate to give this one up. I love the picture.

Hey is here anyone who can help me figure out BL_ERR wire for my tv. I have a diagram from manual of this tv XBR-55X850D & it says 12 in yellow background & 21 in green background. What does that mean & how to count & get proper wire to ground it ? I got it working, for me it was 12th(how to count- start from bottom, large pins are even number & small are odd. So in my case it’s the 6th large pin from bottom on the main board. Grounding that fixed the tv.
Hi. I have a sony kdl-75w855c blinking 6x. I opened it and tried your fancy method. No longer blinking and the red light is away. But backlight doesn't turn on. Only for half a second and goes away. Is this an LED issue or something else? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

that was my first question when i saw this place too, the owner he is in the business for over 25 yr he knows how to deal with that. and that was his answer!! :)
when you unplug the tv and plug it back in does the full screen light back up? thats what mine does and then after a few minutes half the backlight will go out.
Ok, so you diagnosed it was backlight failure, so why would a do it yourselfer scrap the TV. Your comment to scrap the TV, is not what I would have expected. I thought that you would then proceed and show us how you would fix it. Instead you give bad advice to just give up and throw away your TV! That is exactly the reason, not to bring it to a repair shop.
