What you should do:
Step1 Free the back cover (secured by adhesive sticker)
Step2 Remove the loudspeaker assembly
Step3 Remove the battery
Step4 Tear down the main flex
Step5 Remove the signal cable
Step6 Remove the magnetic charging flex
Step7 Take away the rear camera
Step8 Start to remove the motherboard
Step9 Remove the front camera
Step10 Tear down the earpiece
Step11 Remove the headphone jack with sensors
Step12 Free the screen connector
Step13 Separate the screen from the mid-frame
Tips:
For avoid damaging the inner cables, do not put the guitar pick into the phone over 3mm.

Eric Do you the middle frame replacement - www.witrigs.com/oem-middle-frame-for-sony-xperia-z3-gold? In the Z3 teardown video, we have separated the screen from the middle housing assembly. To replace the middle frame, just push out the metal shield and magnetic charging connector that is not hard.

FYI everyone, the old screen flex and the main flex get brittle with age and tear easier than a thin piece of paper if you are not careful. I just needed to re-glue my screen but because I tore the flex cables, I had to buy a new screen and flex. Be very careful not to slip when unsticking the screen flex from the frame. Also, measure the thickness of the screen adhesive you use, because if it is more than 0.15mm, your screen will stick out.

+Patryk Rzepka No, battery stick on the mid frame, because there isn't sticker in the middle of back cover, you do not need to worry battery stick to back cover.

Hi! May i know which part is related to the network/simcard? My Z3 fell to the floor and I couldn't get a network right after. Wifi and bluetooth all works fine, no screen cracks too. So I wonder if i would just replace the network module it could make it to work again. Appreciate your advise!

One of the electrical gold contacts has come away from my magnetic charging port, I use this port daily and really miss it, presumably it's a complete strip down to get to and replace it?

Thanks for this awesome video, can you help me with the following? Many people are concern about Pressure Test on the Z3/Z3c devices since they seem to have some sort of pressure equalization valve, and apparently in the Z3 is located behind the Landyard Hole... can you confirm if this is true? Is there some kind of valve or membrane behind that hole?

Sorry for consecutive questions but seems like you're the expert. I have a screen problem; the backlight turns on/off but nothing is displayed on screen, pitch black. I took Z3 apart and jiggled the LCD connector from the Main flex. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting it, also on the mother board(It's the big wide one, yes?) but still, only backlight. Does this mean that the problem is with the motherboard? Everything else works; the sound comes out and i can receive calls etc, just the screen pitch black. Can you figure what might be wrong? Thank you

Great video of the Sony Xpera Z3 assembly. I have a problem that you might be able to help me with. I dropped the Z3 and it made a small crack on the bottom right hand corner of the display. The touch stopped working immediately, few hours later the lcd gave out and all that comes on is the back light. To my luck both the power and volume buttons are now not working. I'm tempted to buy the digitizer/lcd assembly and perform this repair, but i'm worried about the power button not working any thoughts?

Under the flex with the buttons are gold square double sided tape is this thermal or will any double sided tape do as a replacement

Hi I replaced the screen on my Xperia Z3 D6603 turned it on and started using it but then I realized that the vibrator motor didn't work whatsoever. So I ordered a new power button/vibrator motor/mic assembly. Installed that, but it still doesn't work. How can I fix this?

Hola soy de Costa Rica mi xperia Z3 se me cayo y daño la tapa posterior en una de las esquinas y deseo cambiar la tapa, al cambiar la tapa pierde la protección al agua, lo podre meter después del cambio debajo del agua, saludos gracias por la respuesta. hey Wit ! thanks for this great guide , I've a Q for you about bending on chase up on magmatic charge , is it possible to fix it back ? it's hardly noticeable , what do you advice me about that ? shall I tear down the device and trying some heating on chase to get it back ? or putting some heavy thing on the edges ? thanks .

the middle frame , the all side looks like an arc .

Libyan Guy The middle frame is hard, which is made from aluminium alloy and plastic. I don't think it can become straight after heating or compacting by heavy things. The only way is to replace a new middle frame.But replacing the middle frame means you have to tear down the whole phone including all components, which is at great risk. You said it is hardly noticeable. So I advice you to let it go.

the ear piece speaker DOES NOT come out like that. go ahead and order one if you're going to be changing frames, it will disintegrate.

Hi! Witrigs. My Z3 got water inside but it works perfectly fine except for the network signal. It indicates "No service". Eventhough I already inserted a sim card. Do you know what is the reason why it has no signal?

Nikita Rybalkin There is not adhesive between the battery and the back cover. You can place a 3M adhesive sticker or double face adhesive tape on the back of the battery, which will fasten the battery on the phone.

I noticed on the back of my z3 the glass comes up slightly on the right bottom corner (if looking at the back side) which means when I hold it with my left hand i can feel a slight scratching against that glass. All other sides are totally fine and comfortable.. Do you think I could fix this somehow? I can push it back down but it brings itself back up in a little while.. It worries me that this could ruin the waterproofing. It's not enough to fit anything (probably not even paper) in but I can feel the difference and see it close up.

vexx506 There are two possible explanations for this problem. One is that the back cover adhesive sticker becomes weak. You can try to replace a new waterproof adhesive sticker. The other is the middle housing is out of shape due to over heat. If there is something wrong with the middle housing, we don't recommend you to replace it.

Ricardo Malo All edges are sealed. If there is a small seam, it may be out of waterproof.

Hello, I have a question or two..if ya'll could help. At 1:17 Removing a clip .. i do not have that clip in mine.. At 1:26 disconnecting a cable .. I also do not have that in mine can you tell me what that is for? Also i just replaced my screen all went well, (except i cracked my back cover and messed up the ear speaker (speaker still works)) However - After I put it back together, I am not getting my wireless signal. I will assume I either did not put something back together properly or i damaged my antenna. I am told there are more than 1 antenna on this phone, can you point me in the right direction?

When you say "screen" at step 13, is that The digitizer or also the LCD? Because I have a cracked screen but the display works fine; only that the touch sensor is not working where the glass(i think digitizer) is cracked. If I want to replace ONLY the glass, is that possible? In the way you did at step 13?

Hi, I need some help with my Xperia Z3, well I was testing if it was really waterprof and the water got inside anyway(pool water), the fact is that everything I see it's a black screen and nothing else, but when I try to charge it the led goes on which I supose that indicates that it's charging, I don't know. So what I should do?, warranty stills valid I bought the phone only 5 months ago, the warranty will cover that?(I'm almost sure that it wasn't my foul(all the opens were closed properly) so should be a manufacturing error)

my phone is a sony xperia z5premium. and few days ago I went to swimming pool, take a vew photos andmy phone is dead when I turn it on, its only vibrate (once) the phone heats up and the screen stay black. so I turn it back off again by using the small button inside the flap. what should I do? I already put it inside silica gel and uncooked rice for a day, nothing happen.

+Rafi Mulia Please do not try to turn on again, I think there should be water inside. I suggest that you call Sony After-sale Service first because it is still in warranty, if not you can take it to repair shop to check it first.it is not safe to fix it by yourself.

That must be one of the front facing speakers (the one, which is on the bottom of the phone). That thing is a tiny loudspeaker, so when You watch a video, or play music on your phone, then these two speakers are working together in order to hear the sound of the video/music.

Took my phone in to get my screen replaced now my wifi has signal issues "weak even though im right by the router also my bluetooth headset works only if im like 3 feet from my phone when before i took it in I could be like 30 feet away, any idea on what they messed up?

Ive replaced these screens before. There is a anteena looking piece that looks like a sticker with flat wires on it, on rear glass that u need to transfer to new rear glass.new glass doesnt come with it.i bet it has to do with wifi .other people had same problem. Mine worked fine, i did transfer sticker.

The sticker in question is the one on the back phone cover... Its got gold connections that leads to ur wifi and blue tooth chip.

+Dario Corridori There are some differences between the cover flaps for Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Dual:1. Xperia Z3: SIM & SD card cover is on the right side of the phone while USB port cover is on the left. The former is longer than the latter.2. Xperia Z3 Dual: SIM card cover is on the right side of the phone while SD & USB port cover is on the left.3. The SD & USB port cover for Xperia Z3 Dual is longer than the USB port cover for Xperia Z3.In this video, it is actually a xperia z3 dual phone.

ok. so I'd like to just say it wasn't a complete tear down , you didn't remove the nylon flaps, nor the nylon corners.. I desperately desperately need a video on how to replace the nylon flaps and how to replace the nylon corners.. I have just ordered myself replacements. and I cannot find a video anywhere and your teardown and reassembly videos are the best, can you please post a video of replacing the flaps and corners please!?

Hi I tested my z3 that I just bought under the faucet for not even 1 min (for the simple reason of my curiosity) something I should not have done :( .. after about 15 minutes of impounding the screen was off I tried to restart it I felt the vibration but still black screen + red LED that lights up and then goes off, I removed the protective film and I turned it on I saw the red LED and Sony hardly distinguish which was displayed and then it disappeared I turned it off by the yellow button and I left it for a night .. in the morning I tried to light it, but it did not work .. I do not know what to do did it take water, the screen that has grilled or is it the motherboard that was damaged I do not even know if it's fixable .. have you any answers for me ps: I ' have no guarantee

There must be water inside. you can try to dry the phone and restart it later. but now I prefer you take the phone to repair shop, and do not to turn it on again.

I think my mom dropped her phone but there is no crack. However, one corner of the screen's adhesive is loose. I can easily lift it up from the frame. There is a small section of the touch screen not sensing motion unless i press it down really hard. Is it a bad digitize or a bad screen?

The screen display is normal and working perfectly. it's the lower middle. Like when you have to answer a call you swipe the answer button from left to right . But half way swiping to right, the button just lose sensing and bounce back to the left, when I try to use hand writing, that particular area in the middle would just becomes blank , unless I press it down super hard and drag it across but it's not a straight line either.

Hey I have same Problem but I never "droped" my mobile phone the adhesive just loosened and I can see inside, and fast foward like 1 year my screen started to stop "reacting" and would randomly work and then stop working untill I shake it couple of times and then back to working untill it just stopped working even after shaking the phone, so right now I know the screen is working perfectly fine and touch screen is okay, I hope this is the "pin connector" problem, do you maybe have any insights on this one ?

So I was washing my Z3 , and some water got into it ( Not the first time), now all I can see is a black screen, but still hear sounds; Do you have any idea what's the problem here?

Mohamad Natour It is hard to say that. The lcd screen or the motherboard maybe broken. Can the phone still do other works such as answering the incoming calls or connecting to the PC?

hello i have the same prob. blank screen. you should have put it in a box of raw rice for 2/3 days just after it got water. mine happened the same. it works just fine now

+Ignacio Verdugo hard to reassure its water resistance if it's repaired by DIY work, it can be waterproof again when repairing by original replacements and professional maintenance.

renegadephalanx The z3 battery is smaller ( at 3100 mAh), there may occur some problems and instability if use a Z2.

The tear down the earpiece step is just ridiculous... ripped the earpiece in 2 because it was glued so strong

I don't know if you still need help (you posted your comment few months ago), but restarting phone few times, putting phone card in and out and changing things in network settings helped to me. If it doesn't help to you, try to take your phone to some service. :)
