Hey man, thanks so much! I shot in the manual movie mode and most of the shots are in 24fps 4k 50/1.8 with a variable ND filter so I can keep my shutter speed at double the frame rate. Have fun with the camera, it's a good one!

I would say they are quite different animals... A7c looks like a great camera but you are for sure going to need a few lenses so form factor will be quite a bit more than the ZV1 but hey, it all depends on what you want to get out of it and how much you're willing to carry. Good luck!

that isn't a dumb question at all... the internal filter is good but only allows for 3 stops down and when it is a bright sunny day and you are shooting video you will want to have your shutter speed low (twice your frame rate... so if you are shooting at 24fps then your shutter speed should be at 48 (50) but when you set it to 50 it lets a lot of light in so you need the added ND. I hope that makes sense. Hope you're having fun with it!

well the rule that I have been learning is making sure your shutter speed is about double your frame rate (you may already know this)... so if shooting at 24fps (SS should be at 50). Also having a fast lens ZV-1 is at 1.8 which is pretty good for getting some blurry backgrounds (small sensor so it's limited, but..) with this it is important to have an ND filter, the ZV-1 has a built-in ND but it isn't enough in bright daylight. As far as color grading goes, for this one I didn't do much, I think I added one of the Premiere Luts and tweaked it a tad.

yeah, this is a tough one. I pretty much always shoot at F1.8 so i have to use an ND filter so that i can get as much depth of field as you can with this small sensor. and i often have shots where i'm pretty close to the subject so the background will blur out. I do hear you on the exposure, i have learned a bit to under expose a touch. it is a great little camera but it certainly has its limitations. low light is one of them. Good luck!

Thanks Tech House! I did use the Active shot at times but also used the standard steady shot with my diy slider on a couple shots. have yet to use the catalyst program but need to look into that. Does it work with the ZV-1?

Thanks Pedro! I appreciate the comment on the color grading, but to be honest that is something that I really need to do more studying up on. I did use one of the Lumetri Color space (Cinespace 50) with some adjustments all in premiere. The adaptor I have is from Lensmate lensmateonline.com/products/quick-change-filter-adapter-for-sony-zv-1-now-you-can-add-filters?variant=34546070257828 I like this one a lot because it is secure to the lens and doesn't fall off. I also have the Mag filter adaptor that I have set up on my RX100 m3 but it tends to fall off in a run and gun situation (not bad but something to consider).

Hey Zac, glad you enjoyed it... this was shot in the standard settings of the camera, I did add a premiere lut that i tweaked a little but that is about it. I'm not much of a color grader, but starting to look into it a bit more.

I didn't have one when I shot this but I recently got the Zhiyun Crane M2 so we will see if this adds to my bag of tricks 😁

I will try and make a video on that some day... I'm still learning and not sure i have a specific process at the moment. and in this video things were all straight out of camera but I think I did add a LUT from inside Premiere. Thanks again for watching and the Sub.

Hey markr041... thanks for the comment and the input I need to look into the Log PP for sure, I'm just getting started and learning my way around this camera and videography in general. I guess cinematic is subjective and felt that for me it is the overall tone of the video and not just the accuracy of the video exposure but I will try and work on this in the future... thanks for watching!
