I remember on one of the New York sector pilot deviation videos from a while back, the controller of that situation commented that he didn't give a phone number because he was able to teach the pilot their lesson immediately on the radio and no real harm came of the situation. I'm guessing that the same happened here. The pilot owned up to the mistake, the controller politely said "don't effing do that again", and no traffic was affected (because again, he only clipped the corner) so no further action needed to be taken. If the controller really wanted to be petty, he could have made the pilot turn around and leave the airspace the way he came, like those elementary school teachers who want you to walk instead of running

In this scenario on the other hand , it’s a bit trickier… i know that at the same time you wanna show a B violation and the controller ease him off a little , it can actually have repercurssions on the pilot , and the whole point of the ATC was that not to happen. I would delete it tough now might be kinda whatever since it’s on air 5 days already

Why didn't the controller say something before he entered the Bravo? In the UK, the main reason controllers provide the equivalent of flight following is so they can stop incursions into controlled airspace before they happen.
@sakumisan
@sakumisan 6 месяцев назад
Flight Following is simply an advisory service provided on a workload permitting basis. They are not responsible for keeping you from busting airspace. If you are VFR, you are responsible for that. They might notice and ask prior, but it's not up to them to do so.
@xplayman
@xplayman 6 месяцев назад
Flight Following in the US is a little different. Services are on a workload basis, controller can deny you Flight Following, but even if they do agree to Flight Following their primary focus is IFR flight plans. The VFR aircraft can essentially do what they want unless the controller tells them to do something different like hold a course or altitude. So while he’s on ATC’s radar, ATC isn’t really prioritizing him unless he’s at risk to other traffic. So ATC probably went back to check on him and noticed he violated airspace. In NY airspace they’ll sometimes let me know or remind me to stay out of the Bravo airspace as I get closer. Sometimes they tell me to hold a course and altitude and if I haven’t received clearance I’ll check in that I’m descending to avoid the Bravo. They either response, “Altitude your discretion” which is still the same thing as stay out of the Bravo or “cleared into the Bravo” which I greatly appreciate because my aircraft has the glide ratio of a brick.
@thomasdalton1508
@thomasdalton1508 6 месяцев назад
@@sakumisan Sure, you are responsible, but it makes their lives easier if they point out your mistake before you make it.
@thomasdalton1508
@thomasdalton1508 6 месяцев назад
@@xplayman That's basically the same as in the UK. In the UK, they try to make the service useful enough that VFR pilots contact them, since there is no requirement to do so. Then, once you are in contact with them, they can stop you going where you aren't supposed to be. Farnborough LARS (Lower Altitude Radar Service), which covers most of south east England, including the area all around London, intervenes more than 1,000 times a year to advise pilots that they are about to infringe controlled airspace. That's the main reason they provide the service.

They're off on pretty regular occasion, a bit too regular if you ask me. He said "We just cut the corner , you're right", not "We just cut the corner here to the right". I love your videos, especially discussions or arguments between ATC and pilots but these wrong captions bring down the video quality for no real reason. Other than that, keep it going! :)

Boy, where I live, this biggish airport has 2 cell phone lots, both just a few hundred feet from active taxiways and runways. They’re not supposed to do this but ppl park there and get their damn drones out sometimes. That busts all kinds of restricted airspace and has resulted in arrival/departure delays because drones bust that restricted airspace. I’ve had the scanner on while I’m waiting on my passengers and the ground controllers have cops dispatched within minutes. Busting protected airspace is a big deal and this pilot & controller seem to have handled this situation well, unlike the drone knuckleheads where I live.

Correct way to handle this is for Controller to stay professional instead and not give those little comments back to the pilot, instead give a number to call and debrief on the ground, stressing the importance of why we don't break airspace. Would have made the pilot more aware on future flights and could save lives

The “I just cut the corner” remark by the pilot doesn’t imply to me that he did it intentionally. It’s likely the pilot only realised the moment the controller pointed it out to him. It’s interesting that it occurred after obtaining flight following. In Australia where I’m from I would be very surprised if a controller did not pick up on the possible airspace violation before it occurred. It appears the service operates differently in the US.
@neilsingh5311

I don’t like the way the controller handled this. He knew where this guy was headed, he knew what altitude he was going to, he knew he would clip that corner, but he didn’t proactively say “remain clear of the bravo”, or “cleared into the bravo”. By saying remain clear, it would remind the pilot that he was going to be close, or he could’ve just given him a clearance, but instead decided to “teach him a lesson”. Also, the pilot says “we did just cut the corner”, as in, oh crap, we just cut the corner. All of this is the pilot’s responsibility, but the controller could’ve been a little bit more of a team player in this situation.

I don’t babysit pilots and tell them the obvious. I’m a pilot too and one of the first things to learn is that you need a clearance to enter bravo airspace. What you’re suggesting is like me having to tell them to remain VFR; it’s asinine. Also I don’t like to use the phrase “remain clear of bravo airspace” because pilots will just hear the word clear and think they’re cleared into the bravo. If I think it’s necessary I’d say “remain outside of bravo airspace.”

All the other traffic on the frequency was trimmed out. Youre reacting to an illusion that he was the only plane.

@@graham609 I don’t disagree with you on any of that, but it’s hardly “asinine” to suggest that the controller could’ve been proactive to prevent him from cutting that corner. It’s just a matter of being proactive to help a guy out, rather than watching him do something you already knew he was going to do. Also, you’re right, “remain outside” is definitely a better way to say “remain clear”. I don’t fly Vfr anymore, so…

A class of airspace. Bravo stands for B as in class B airspace

Yeah I’m sure the controller wanted to let that slide and especially with the pilots remorse on making that mistake but now thanks to this video he’s now exposed for the FAA to do whatever they want with him. Not really fan of this kind of videos. I’m a huge fan of this channel but I didn’t like who they did this Pilot dirty by exposing him.

alittle snark in the tone on the "yeah OK" reply, but hey, 30 seconds of, "Did I clear you into Bravo?" "Apologies no" "well, you violated the bravo" " I apologize" "yeah OK" and it was over, at least it wasn't N731NR or any other argumentative prick, but the snark tone isn't needed, and contrasting the pilot, clipping a Bravo shelf and basically admitting to doing it is also not needed.

Definitely should have his license pulled. All the Johnny Law ATC Fanboys on here should be losing it for the diabolical bravo corner cutter. Dudes flying a Cirrus. He went through so fast I would have had the static simulator turned up when big brother called.

It appears as if the controller didn't issue a pilot deviation which is equally as wrong as cutting the corner. Individual controllers do not have such discretion. Had the controller just pretended to not see it as most other controllers would have done at least he would have culpable deniability. The pilot should have filed a NASA form, but the controller should have also filed an ATSAP for his own negligence.

This is a particularly American attitude I find a lot online. If you tell someone a fact you must couch it in the most obsequiously polite terms or people get upset. As opposed to Australians who are rather blunt
