I bought mine without ignitor. Even an empty Bic lighter works.

I bought the piezo model because it was cheapest the the one without it. The piezo takes several tries for it to ignite the gas, but sparks everytime. I think its the position of the igniter. I just use my Bic to fire it up.

Unfortunate that your Amicus arrived with a defective piezo ignitor, but am glad the Soto responded fairly quickly(?) to replace the ignitor. Thanks for this video in which you demonstrate how to properly switch out a piezo ignitor. My Amicus just arrived today and the piezo ignitor appears to work fantastically and consistently. Cheers!

Man, your videos are getting better every time! I'm sticking with my BRS for the time being though.

Thank you sir! Yeah that BRS. The copy of that stove that I had was one of those sub-par quality ones. Really soured me for that stove. But it seems to work pretty well for a lot of people. Too bad mine was just so-so. Take care my friend!

I received my Amicus yesterday and tested it in my backyard. It is a great, little, ultralight stove. The piezo finally lit the stove on the 3rd try. These piezos seem to be the weak point in the stoves of all manufacturers. Also supposedly there is an issue with piezos working at high altitudes. Muphy's Law applies to these gadgets so take matches or a lighter. BTW, this little stove heated 500 ml of water in 2 1/2 minutes. Mine came from REI with the cooking pots.

Also nice is that a 220 gm cartridge fits inside the cooking pot. CONS: The stove legs seem fragile so you can't manhandle or abuse the stove. Two, the company includes a flimsy mesh bag to put everything in but it won't last long.

Will the stove fit in your Best Backpacking Cook Kit (Evernew .9L etc.) instead of the LiteMax?
@TubaSolotheHiker
@TubaSolotheHiker 3 года назад
Hello Henry, sorry it took me so long to respond. Unfortunately no. It does not play nice with the Evernew .9L and Evernew cup.

I ordered an Amicus without Piezo and spent the saved cash on an adapter valve to let me attach it to large fuel bottles. Since the Piezo is the weakest link, just go without it.

Nice bit of tutorial Steve, which do you prefer the Amicus or the Windmaster?
@TubaSolotheHiker
@TubaSolotheHiker 5 лет назад
Between the two I like the Amicus because its less fuss overall. But yeah the Windmaster is built like a tank and comes very very highly recommended from Hikin' Jim. The king of backpacking stoves. He said that if he had to pick one stove to use, it would be the Windmaster. Pretty interesting indeed. Take care my friend!

Oh yeah. I would totally trust this stove. I always bring a lighter also but yeah. Quick fix and I'm back up and running.
