This is absolutely gorgeous. When I first saw your release announcement, I was watching and went "WOW! This is exactly how I remember Soul Reaver." So of course I immediately went and replayed it in full on my PS2 and quickly realized how much heavy lifting my imagination had been doing. Your texture remaster makes the game look how I always imagined it did. I think that's a high achievement.

I’ve been watching the remaster very carefully and I noticed you doing small things here and there to give the viewer the ideal experience of the game. - The detailed movements when you fly - Waiting for the world theme songs to transition before shifting between planes - Making some of the fights look cinematic and utilizing Glyphs after recent collection It was quite a delight watching this and thank you for taking the time to make this remaster. Very Satisfying 💯
Let me just tell you that you did god's work, something that others have not and you've made history. History for people that love these games and hope that this appreciation of your craft would give us hope for a Soul Reaver 2 HD Remaster mod.
I just watched the entire thing with my daughter. She's three as of right now. This helped me bond with her over something that has been special to me since I was a kid not much older than what she is now. It's heart warming to know that the Soul Reaver series has such a dedicated fandom. On one hand I'd like to have a reboot, but on the other hand I think they should JUST remaster it with new graphics and leave everything else untouched. The new textures are beautiful by the way, it really enhances the game visually.
I love that the fanbase of LoK is full of passionate people that will do things like this. And I'm grateful you're a part of it because your talented work is much appreciated.
I'm 28; this is a game I have very vivid memories of playing with my parents on PS1 when I was around 6 years old. I just started playing through the PS1 version using Wraces patch for my first real playthrough a few weeks ago before I knew about this, but for my second run I'll go through your remaster. As another person whose favorite video game franchises have been run into the ground, I want you to know I really admire the passion you have to have taken it upon yourself to improve something you love.

It's criminal how this saga has been left to rot. It's great to see folks who've spent time and effort trying to keep the saga going through mods. Games like LOK where created by great humans. Loads of outstanding men and some very intelligent women who knew their craft. Amy Hennig goes down in history for me. She was so passionate about this saga. I remember listening to her interviews. She had help but she also had a good understanding of the narrative and theme All of the qualities of the LOK saga and this particular game are very hard to find these days. Almost impossible. I've recently got back into the saga. This is great to know people like you are putting in the work to keep it going 😁👍
You explore several areas I missed. You also show case artwork on the walls, windows and infrastructure of the locations. Thank you for paying such close attention to the games details. Also your run through of the game is master class. You've got it down to a science as you know exactly where to go.
Legend, thanks for making this, its refreshing to see it somewhat remastered. Hopefully the second game and defiance get a little remaster too. This series was seriously underrated. Its story is amazing and the voice actors did a incredible job.

@@truongnguyendac2032 I don't think "woke" had anything to do with it, just bad direction/writing. I heavily suggest to replay LOK again, they're perhaps more "woke" than you remember...

I really doubt that'll ever happened. I mean this franchise been dead since 2003. And there have been many, many attempts of bringing it back, without success. For some reason when I play Dark Souls I always think about Legacy of Kain, guess that's the closest I can get for some Legacy of Kain vibes.
@@RainaAudron that's amazing the amount of detail that these people put a long time ago if your someone who didn't play blood oman you would never understand who this character was, I would love to see a prequel to The legacy of kain series but we play as vorador or Malik or maybe a new character that we never seen before a human who becomes a new bleed of vampire known as a half blood does not need as much blood as a full-blooded vampire needs and can swim in water still can be hurt by fire though I can hear Mobius saying "I've told you the stories of Kain, I have told you the story of raziel, I think it is now time that a new story is born!"

I love seeing this game again. It shows how much more dialogue was added to SR2 and the other sequels. The nods to Blood Omen that meant nothing my first playthrough (SR1 is my first LoK game) and now I keep seeing more. So many more questions that are irrelevant that pop up in my head: Where does Ariel go if she disappears from the Spectral Realm? Why didn't she reveal herself before now to the Vampire Sons? Has anyone been able to bring the Defiance character models into and replace the SR1 character models? Thank you for all your efforts in this series and community!
Thanks a lot! Ariel says she was taunted by Kain´s creatures so it was likel the Lieutenants but she probably wouldnt want to be seen around them much. We dont know where she goes when she disappears in spectral. It is not possible to replace the character models at the moment.
Congratulations to all the fans committed to this immortal classic that is Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, I was impressed with the textures of the walls and the details of some pillars throughout the game, you can see symbols that were not even seen or barely perceptible before . It turned out really good.
This is a dream come true!! thank you and to all your team that can make this happen, you're the best!!! the only sad are i can´t play it in HD with flycast in my xbox one, because i don't not why the texture pack dont load, but thanks for your awesome work.
I saw someone on Twitter who played this and it worked on Xbox! Perhaps the textures are in the wrong folder or the setting to load the textures is not ticked?
This game was and still is my favorite, I finally beat it about 4 years ago. seeing this is exactly how I imagine it would look if given a proper re release awesome work guys
This looks absolutely amazing and beautiful. If we can’t have a ps4/5 remaster this is the next best thing and pretty darn close. Seeing Soul Reaver so vivid and in 60fps gets me excited to play through it again my self. Thanks are definitely not enough for this!

This looks amazing and takes me back. I'm gonna have to give this a shot for sure Completely unrelated...I know it's probably not meant to be this way...but the sounds the vampires make when being impaled, lit on fire, dropped in water, being kaboomed by the Soul Reaver and the sound they make when "startled" are just plain funny to me.
I have such fond memories of this game but it needs more than a remaster as some of the gaming elements, such as the combat and platforming as well as camera have not aged well at all. Fingers crossed the entire series gets an update. Exceptional effort btw.

Haha, it's all about optimal path 👍I could have done it faster too but wanted to look around more to show the new textures 😅 and I also had 23 years of practice.
It's old, but there's really only so lost in the game you can get. Probably the most confusing part of the game is The Silenced Cathedral, because it has all those bell puzzles in that one area. There's not a whole lot of ways to get off track, and the puzzles only need to be solved once. To someone with nothing but time like a kid, it doesn't matter if it takes a long time, the game _will_ get beaten if they want it that way.
26:40 I was hoping the secret squish would make an appearance! I felt so clever when I figured out you could kill vampires by flipping blocks onto them. Though I've never crushed a vampire ON TOP of a cube before...
This reminds me of watching matches is StarCraft remastered. I think to myself yeah... What changed? It always looked like this... I think this is a sign of an excellent remaster when your brain doesn't really notice the quality update because for all this time that's what it was already upscaled to internally by your imagination.

I know it's not much but all i can do is like your video, suscribe and be thankful. I played Soul reaver from beginning till the end with your "remaster" i'm a big fan of blood omen 1 and back in the days i did not play soul reaver 1 or 2 or the rest of the serie. I could not imagine playing this on PS1. I played on my videprojector widescreen and had a good time. Lot of work and impressive.

for me the weird sound effect when you scan through portals has no sound. Also in the Drowned Abbey the gargoyle textures are blurry. I love this remastered by the way. Thank you to RainaAudron for making me relive this wonderful game in such an awesome replay way.
I still find it ironic how in his haste, Raziel didn't realize what the Chronoplast visions showed him were possible futures awaiting him, not the route he would take in his travels. Even if some tie to his future, like the last one, which is revealed in a way in Soul Reaver 2 when Raziel makes his declaration to hunt down the Sarafan after his past self ripped the Heart of Darkness out of Janos's chest.
