I love your cooking tutorials ! Re: cabbage. Big Mama taught me to discard the big green outter leaves of cabbage because they been exposed to pesticides. They like a armour or coat of protection .
Your cabbage is cooked just the way I like it, you sure know how to cook everything, My husband did all our cooking before he passed away. He was a wonderful cook. Bless you and your family.
Those dark leaves are the "sun leaves" full of vitamins and sunshine!!!Dont throw them out.Chop them up too.!! Just select a nice sound firm head with clean outer leaves.Youre gold.xxoo
I'm from Louisville. I miss my mom's southern cooking. I've never cooked cabbage. Both of my sisters do. I had to forward this to them. They will be impressed and probably subscribe too. Thanks for the great lessons!
Dude, your cabbage was looking good!! I'll have to remember to put sugar in mine. I've never done that, but I bet it cuts down on the bitter taste of the cabbage. Great job Ray!!! Peace brother!!!
Looks good! Made a pot today. I add a little tumeric at the end of cooking to give it a prettier color. I also shred might fine at times when doing a stir fry it will all get done st the same time I add onions & Green bell pepper when doing a stirfry add a little water add the end and cover to steam. Bless
I love cabbage and the Slap ya Mama seasoning I got both the original and the hot blend. I always fry up some bacon remove it and cook my cabbage in the bacon grease. I have never added sugar I will try adding it next time. Thank you for the video
Now! It is clear how to take the core out of the cabbage. Will make for Sunday Dinner for family. However , I will use Smoke Turkey Wings and just seasoning , no broth. We thank you for the wonderful video. Bless you and your family and us all. 😁✌
Oh thank you so much for sharing this wonderful video! I am the only one in my family who loves cabbage. I am going to make this for sure! Love your videos 💜💋🧡
@Ray Mack's Kitchen and Grill ~ yes Indeed! This [soulful] Cabbage you cooked looks delicious! You're so organized, clean & tidy in your kitchen, very to the point with your recipes, and good presentation! I'm watching this video Oct. 2018, and I just subscribed! one of things about Food/Cooking/Recipes Videos, is that, it NEVER becomes old & obsolete! It's always relevant! And Mr. Ray Mack, you're doing a "labor of love" right there on that Recipe! Thank you so much for sharing this recipe with us! Peace to you and yours! ☺✌👏👏👍✔💯
Thank you for telling me not to use so much water. I’ve been covering my cabbage with water and boiling it for an hour LOL!!! I love Tony Chekerees creole seasoning in mine. I love the little bit of heat it adds but I don’t use salt with it. It’s salty enough. I use it to season EVERYTHING instead of salt. You should try you some of that.
This looks so delicious. I have a head of cabbage in my fridge that I had other plans for for today, but your video is making me think about switching gears.
Son........I don’t know what kind of diet you on but I want somathat! That looks so yummy! I’m from up north, when we make cabbage, that’s what we eat .... cabbage and cornbread! Period! Lordy, I been missin out! Corn pudding, smothered chicken over rice, pork chop, and chicken or fish?? I done died and went to heaven!!
Hey Ray! your plates look yum and delish. I want some PLEASE LOL. keep doing what you do. Peace Out for Now. Stay Bless, Be Bless And Always Be A Blessing. Gave you a thumb up
Ray I watch your other video on fried cabbage where you used sausage and other stuff. I am so glad that you are demonstrating fried cabbage without that other stuff. This video takes me back to south Carolina back in the day. Granted we didn't have Slap Your Momma seasoning and I'm glad we didn't. We used fat back salt, and pepper and maybe a little sugar depending on how my mother was feeling that day. We could actually taste the flavor of the cabbage and not just a bunch of seasoning and oh my goodness was it good with Lake Trout or fried chicken, some fresh harvested vegetable, cornbread not sweet cornbread, and always we had rice in the back ground. Thank you.
Thank you for this advice, I'm definitely going to give Greener leaves a try. Thank you so much for watching and commenting on this video I really do appreciate it.
Looks great tasty. You should keep the core and outer leaves boil them up with other veggie cuttings and some beef or chicken bones and you get a fine base for a soup or stock. Keep cookin ✌️
Ray, your Soulful Cabbage looks delicious! This would be the perfect side dish to go with my meatloaf tomorrow. Thank you so much for the recipe. Blessings to you and yours...
Thanks for your video! I was nervous to ever cook cabbage and didn't know how to cut it. Couldn't find that seasoning you mentioned guess its only in walmart. Anyhow thanks to the quick and easy explanation in your video it came out great!!!!!
I'm on a diet, but my family still have to eat.🤣😂😅 I am going to try this. You explain things well. I am going to look for your collar greens now. Thanks for posting.
Today (Father’s Day) was my first time cooking cabbages and I stumbled on your video. As you were cutting, I was cutting. Haha. Thanks for this amazing video. My significant other will love this 😊
