You missed what is probably the most important part of Subtractor. Twisting the screws and playing with them. It provides gentile procrastination without distracting you from Reason.

Never knew this until now lol. I just tired it. Now I'm mad my subtractor only has 3 screws in the rack!

the subtractor synth is a total classic; - I have played with it since 2005 when a friend gave me a copy of Reason ADAPTED; - I now have Reason 11 intro...

Funny; the moment I hear Frank mention an LFO these days I'm immediately reminded of that awesome Pulsar movie :-)

Subtractor is my go to synth for TB303 sounds.

Still a synth to be reckoned with. This is one that will always be present in my tracks alongside the newer RE's. Combine multiple Subs for more epicness.

Nice, short tutorial that will be quite helpful- I know the first time I opened up a Thor I was like ???? The Subtractor and the Malstrom get overlooked a lot I feel.

I like the different phase modulation types. These aren't available in Thor, even though I prefer Thor. It's also a bit less clean than Thor- has a bit of grit to it. They're great if you chain a bunch of them together in a Combinator ;-D

I'll be linking to this video for all of my tutorials in the future if anyone, want's to know how everything works. It would also be helpful to get some feedback on how to "present"to eventually help make a better video.

I suppose for a simple video you wouldn't want to, but you could set up the rate so you can perform it with a midi keyboard :)

Why is my bass not even when i tweak subtractor? one note repeated over and over sounds a bit different, sometimes a lot different. i have to export it as a wave file and then import back to NN-XT to use it the way i want.
@ownageDan
@ownageDan 11 лет назад
all standard reason synths have a portamento knob, create the basic bass sound you want and just tweak that knob

Hi. When I listen to your video the bass sounds great but when I try it in Reason it sounds flat and weak. Any idea why that is? Same with any other bass and synth also
@NATmusic27

Wow phase offset modulation is really cool! Unfortunately i use ableton so i don't have the subtractor....
@Guilherme-md7vw
@Guilherme-md7vw 8 лет назад
+NATmusicofficial you can rewire reason into Ableton, it doesn't take longer than 5min to get it working
@andreilemieux9525

will any future reason synths or Re's have the phase offset modulation? maybe europa could get an emulation of subtractor's modifiers :D
@DavidAndersonKirk
@DavidAndersonKirk 11 лет назад
It would be nice, perhaps in a future iteration of Reason, to see the Subtractor fall out of the rack and break upon removing all four screws. (Perhaps the device could just have a crack across the front, and then all of the parameters set to random values?) Until then, I assert that this Easter Egg does not go far enough!

Its probably just the attack of the amp. Else lower filter "env" or increase attack for mod.

It's so annoying how they explain how an LFO works everytime the make a video... Like piss off. Or how they always go into the history of how analog used to work for like all of their videos. I'm not a beginner. I also hate it when they try to demonstrate how the synth works and they end up showing how to write a song.... Fuck man, I'm not interested in listening to your music. I just want to know how the synth works and it's capabilities.
