Sound of gearbox bearing failure - VW MQ200 02T

Complete strip down of the gearbox is required in order to replace them bearings ...

I will add that if i decelerate with my foot off the clutch then i cant hear any noise either.

So what was the problem and how did you resolve it

The output shaft is always engaged into the differential. differential spins, if the car is in motion. so when the bearings of the output shaft is defective (which are nearly the same like the ones from the primary shaft), it might also sound like that. additionaly, the primary shaft can get spin from the output shaft through slip, even if the clutch is open.

Its your dual mass flywheel I believe

I have the same sound on second and Third Year Do you know What's the Problem no of the Two Years and you tell me that please

@@leovigildrekkared8702 I replaced motor support with me. and the next day suddenly the sound started. Link of the happy you also give a link with the sound Maybe you can help I will not get out. the sound occurs in 2nd and 3rd gear to be heard clearly when I clutch clutch is the sound gone. mine sounded like that for about 1000km then it got worse. clicking and grinding and then it sheared off 3 of 6 cv joint bolts... I reattached the other 3. it still jerks and shakes. but ive gone another 400km on that... vws never die?

Same news for me mechanic said either new transmission or live with it till it seizes

@@redlined4493 stripped it out and found diff crown wheel cracked around gear transmission guy said he never seen it before

It could be your throw out bearing. I just replaced mine with the same problem

Neil Peng out of curiosity did you ever find out the problem? my car is making the same as you've explained.

I had the same problem, no noise when on clutch. I was told the bearings on my gear box had gone and I had to replace my whole gearbox. Cost me £600 all in for second hand gear box (£400) and labour (£200). I have a vw golf fsi, 6speed.
