Al's stuff is top ^ yo Johnny there is an app you can get that will measure the DBI if you want to do your own comparison , I have an TKO that's pretty quite , the best I ever had was homemade with a stiff rubber housing , the hammer strike was the loudest part of the gun ,

I’m thinking of ordering one myself for my 2289 build. I’ve used TKO before & they are really good units. Not at ruggedly constructed as a DonnyFL and aren’t really made to go on & off or move between guns. They are however lighter, considerably less expensive and include the barrel mount for non-threaded barrels like the 2289’s. They’re very effective but this will be my first opportunity to test their performance with a digital sound meter.

Max, is the mode where it stores the loudest sound. The Maximum sound. It’s also set to Fast as opposed to Slow which dictates the sampling rate. The inconsistency is do to these units not having a fast enough sampling rate. Of course an analog meter with a data logger would be better, I digress. Anyway since we’ve attempting to measure a very rapid pressure wave, averaging is the best solution given our equipment limitations. I’m researching upgrading our measurements. What equipment do you use or prefer?
