(23 Apr 1994) The head of South Africa's main white right wing party, Freedom
Front, signed an accord with the ANC and the government on
Saturday (24/3) promising a "fresh look" at the idea of a
volkstaat or white homeland after the country's first all-race
elections. "This document might be imperfect, but it's a
demonstration of a desire to reconcile...the two major indigenous
groups of this country," Constand Viljoen, the former armed forces
chief who leads the Freedom Front, said after signing the accord.
