The University of Johannesburg (UJ) yesterday held a dialogue in collaboration with Democracy Works under the title - The Future of South Africa We Want.
The thrust of the discussion was about honest reflections on SA, where the country comes from, what gains were made, and what needs to change.
Among the speakers was Rivonia Circle director, Tessa Dooms. She holds the view that South Africa gave power entirely to politicians and overwhelming power to the government.
And that people who have power are those with access to politicians, while disempowering the rest of the society, leaving people disengaged and demobilised. For more on this we are joined virtually by Tessa Doom, she is an author and one of the directors at the Rivonia Circle.
