The window screens are very thin wire mesh that fits tightly into the window frame and locks in place. It lets a breeze thru but keeps bugs out.

Grew up in a family of five, and we had six cars. The screen is the size of the window and made of small metal mesh. There is no bucket under the sink. The waste goes into an apparatus that's sealed located under the sink. Her parents do have a nice home located off the water, but other then that it looks like a nice average type of home. Yeah, we do have alot of TV's around the house.

It's very common for people to have more than 1 car per household of 2. Our society is built around driving, so i think that is a big part of it. We have drive thrus and at curb pick up for almost everything. I have found that there are 1 car per adult and an all-purpose vehicle like a truck. This house is a middle-class home in the midwest.

Individual households vary, of course; but statistically, America definitely has way more cars per household than most of Europe. Excluding microstates (which are outliers on basically every statistic), there is only one country in the world with more motor vehicles per capita than America's 0.91, and that's New Zealand, with 1.09. Canada is also quite high on the list at 0.79. Remember that the per capita number includes children as part of the population figure, so all three of these countries have more motor vehicles than driving-age residents. The highest European country on the list (excluding microstates) is Finland, also at 0.79. France is at 0.67, which is still significantly higher than the European average. The lowest non-Balkan European countries on the list are Ukraine at 0.25, Turkey* at 0.27, Belarus* at 0.34, and Russia* at 0.4. (* if you count these countries as European, which is... complicated.) A few more intermediate values: Hungary is at 0.46, Ireland at 0.54, Austria at 0.57, Spain and Germany both around 0.63, Italy riding high at 0.76. The _bottom_ of the list, is, of course, mostly dominated by sub-Saharan Africa and a few true hellholes elsewhere (e.g., North Korea). No surprise there. Cars cost money, so if the Wikipedia article on your country's economy talks about subsistence farming, you're likely not going to have a whole lot of them.

This is a conventional middle class house in the US. The difference between the top and bottom of middle class is not exhibited as much by the house but rather by the furnishings inside the house. They will be similar in function but can differ greatly in cost. The closer the family is to the top of middle class, the more costly and luxurious the furnishings and decor will be.

The garbage disposal grinds up the food waste until it's small enough to mix with and be carried by the water. It goes down the drain, though the sewage system and to the local water treatment plant. Disposals are discouraged or even illegal in some other countries because in some areas the older pipes can't handle the waste and gets plugged up. Plus it adds extra difficulty to the water treatment.

We have a TV in the living room, in the bedroom and one in the garage so hubby can watch sports while working on his cars. That looked like a pretty normal house for America.

The garbage disposal food gets macerated and then goes down the drain. No bucket. The home seems pretty standard. That island is maybe 1/3 the size of ours. It’s in the Midwest and the cars aren’t very high end so the home while probably pricey for the region as it’s on a lake, it would be very cheap compared to homes in or near major coastal cities.

Seems pretty typical middle-upper middle class home. Not wild about neighbors that close but, when you live on a lake that’s how it is. My front yard isn’t fenced, back yard is because we have a pool & in most areas you have to have a fence with a pool. The kitchen they have is typical of newer or remodeled homes. I’m a widow, but still own a car & a truck. I use my garbage disposal everyday, but am not big on tv’s, so I only have 1. And of course I have the obligatory dog in the house😊

The window screen is more of a mesh than a perforated panel. This house we're looking at is what I would classify as an upper middle class home, pretty standard in the Midwest. The waste in the garbage disposal goes out with the water - no additional work needed.

People in the US do not spend much time in their front yards and so prefer the open look to having fences in the front. People spend time in the back yard and will prefer privacy there, achieved with landscaping or a privacy fence (if allowed by the neighborhood codes). And most back yards will be fenced, useful for people with small children and pets.

I'm in a suburb of Houston, Texas, where people drive everywhere. Most middle class families have a smaller car for each adult (including older teenage children) to commute to work or school, and maybe one or two larger vehicles like a truck or SUV for family drives, road trips or hauling.

My dad always had about 3 cars for us, plus whatever cars the kids bought for themselves. With 6 kids, there was often a need for multiple kids to be in different places, and being able to get your license at 16, there was usually 2-3 drivers in the house aside from my parents, so the extra cars were appreciated. I live in a small Southern town where there is generally a car for each adult, plus a pickup truck at the house in case anyone needs to transport something big.

0:50 this is of course only were the mailman drives house to house. Where the mail is delivered by a walking carrier the mailbox is smaller with a hinged lid and hangs on the house itself. Usually near the front door but some put it on the side of the house and some put it near their garage door. 3:53 a/c is not common in every home and where it exists it's usually a window unit in bedroom because it is expensive to run. Central Air is extremely rare. 5:22 screens are only built into modern windows. The wooden replacement windows from the 70's were the first to get those. Older windows don't, but they make removable screens that you can stick in the open window. 6:46 not my style, that's a modern new build characterless blah. 7:20 garbage disposals are NOT in pretty much every home. Maybe in her wealthy circle but that's about 5% of the population. 10:18 again showing her ridiculous wealth, most people have only 2 at most. One in the living room and one in the master bedroom. A teenager might have one in their room especially if they have video games.

I have lived in about 12 houses in 4 different states and never had a garbage disposal in any of them .We are organic gardeners so we feed all of our bio-degradeable kitchen waste ( except meats ) to our worm farm and then spread the compost and worm castings into the garden ,which has been all organic for more than 50 years , instead of using commercial chemical fertilizer .

It's normal to have a lot of tvs in the home. Every bed room has a tv and it's not unusual to have a tv in the kitchen. If your house has a finished basement you probably have a theater system down there. Americans love tv.

We live in Minnesota. Our house is fenced in but we have 3 Bernese Mountain dogs.

I live in Houston, Texas, where it is very hot at least half of the year, and VERY humid almost all year. Air conditioning here is serious, much more powerful than in other parts of the country. As a result, although I don't need a coat very often outdoors, I usually carry a sweater or jacket when I go INDOORS anytime other than winter.

The number of cars in a family depends on economic status. For example, my brother and his wife each had their own vehicle and when each of their two sons was old enough to drive, he was allowed to have a car so that he could drive himself to school and to after school sports and other events. That was necessary because one was in college in another state while the younger one was still attending high school from home.

People from outside North America (Can and US) seem to wonder frequently if these things are common or if they're just an "upper class" things (A/C, multiple vehicles, garbage disposals, etc.). It's important to remember that the lower-middle class in Canada and the US typically enjoy more amenities in their homes than the upper-middle classes do in places like Europe. This girl's parents appear to be clearly in the very center of "middle class." I've heard a German brag that Germany has less "income inequality" than the US but at the same time complain that only the top earners can buy a home in Germany, while virtually everyone else must rent. I pointed out that even the poorest in the US and Canada can often purchase a home.

Her home is nice and probably leans towards the average to upper just because of the location. The inside amenities are very nice and much more common especially in more recent new builds and remodels. Before a bunch of people come at me telling me I don't know what I am talking about please understand that I am speaking from my own perspective based on the area I live in. Prices are much higher in San Diego than a lot of other places. Your anger and hate are not required.

I think this house is middle class. Her parents may be an older couple and when they bought that home even on the lake was probably a steal. The TV’s in the home are sort of over load but most of us have three or more. All of the cars can be normal especially if you’re an older couple or even people that have older cars that are paid off and some people by newer ones. And in some homes there are teenagers driving so you may find four or more cars in a driveway. And to have a decent home in America you don’t have to be rich. Hell you can be employed and own a home. I know 20 yr olds that own homes. And this house was not even expensively decorated it was average.

This is a pretty upscale home -- but with the exception of the ice freezer setup most of what she discusses is true for American homes.

That house is in a nice location, but the house doesn't look that big by current American standards, probably bought by her parents decades ago as a place to vacation and eventually retire to, at a time when land would have been cheaper.

I would say this house is on the upper end of middle class, however my parents also have four cars, and a TV in every room including the kitchen.

At the moment, I'm not sure South Africa's power grid could *handle* it if a whole bunch of people installed air conditioning. Window screens are basically just a fine wire mesh or netting. The individual holes are around half a millimeter across (even gnats can't fit through them; maybe an aphid could?), and the wire that separates them is a small fraction of that width, so it doesn't obstruct the view or airflow much. Garbage disposals drain into the normal sewage system, yes. But honestly, they're more trouble than they're worth. They're a pain to keep clean, and if you don't bother they smell. We used to have one, and we got rid of it, and I don't ever want one again. If the trash starts to smell, we can take it out to the garage or something, much easier than cleaning a garbage disposal. We have two televisions in this household, for four adults. If it were up to me, we'd get rid of both of them. Not a fan.

0:52 This is definitely an upper middle class home. These people have money. Most people don't have 4 cars for just 2 people. Also people may have two or maybe three TVs for 2 people but that's usually it. One in the family room and one in the bedroom and maybe one other room. This is crazy.

This is a nice home. Upper middle class probably. It’s also in the Midwest so probably far more affordable than if it were say where I live in California. That’s a completely absurd amount of TV’s even for an American home.

I'd say this house shown is on the higher end of American houses, but not super luxurious, slightly above the average typical American home, with the deep kitchen sink, the commercial refrigerator & higher end kitchen countertops shown! P.S. Garbage disposals are not uncommon but not always seen (garbage goes down the drain, after being ground up by the kitchen garbage disposal 👍🇺🇸♥ 💙

We have 5 TV's in my house. That sounds about right. Also, my family has 4 cars, 3 motorcycles and a four-wheeler. Only 4 people within the home.

The newer houses in my town are like that house in the video. I'm in Northern California just north of Sacramento and even lower priced houses are similar for around $600,000.

My moms house is 67⁰f-68⁰f/ 20⁰C.. 24/7! Yes, average middle class house, average dog. Garbage disposal goes to the city waste water division down the sewer system.

This looks like an older cottage area on a lake that has been recently renovated and remodeled into an open plan for her parents retirement home. It’s finishes are pretty standard for todays middle to upper middle class house. Other than the televisions mounted too high, it certainly isn’t bad taste. Taste is relative, as is one definition of “rich”
