The South Korean Navy makes a small presentation of anything. It's actually a bigger submarine

These are one of the replacements Canada is looking at to replace its submarines. They are likely the best choice especially with the new batteries for extra endurance.

@@jesseraina1614 Why does Canada need 2 carriers, nuclear subs, and nuclear missiles?
@ytn00b3

@@jesseraina1614 Yes, need aircraft carriers and to operate the aircraft carrier fleet, you definitely need the nuclear powered submarine to protect the carrier, and also need at least 12~ 16 AIP Diesel powered submarines for defending shores from both China and Russia.

@@jesseraina1614 Nuclear missiles? No need for these weapon. Canada needs nuclear POWERED, CONVENTIONALLY armed submarines. Just like Australia will get from US and UK. Why? Canada is right next to the Arctic and needs nuclear to stay under the ice for extended period of time.

@@johnpodohonestly I think the nuclear missile capability is the most effective weapon system Canada could deploy. We simply cannot build enough conventional strength to confidently deter aggression from the most likely sources. Nuclear strike capabilities would change that. Even a 500km range nuclear tipped missile deployed on stealthy submarines could make an aggressor think twice. Especially since a lot of critical infrastructure and population is within a few hundred km of the coast. I have no illusions that the Canadian people and government will act decisively though, even while watching Ukraine suffering through a potentially similar crisis to what we could face. Just hope for the best I suppose.

@@jesseraina1614 Why does Canada need nuclear subs? Do you believe it's so we can operate under the ice cap? Why does Canada need to do that? Our interests in the Arctic are the Arctic islands and the channels between them which are not really navigable by submarine, anyway. AIP submarines like this would be a good way of defending our coastlines during conflict.

I hope the RCN selects these boats without YEARS of politcal haggling. Canadians can have a role to play in building and maintaining them via Babcock. We desperately need to enlarge our sub fleet to protect our vast Arctic expanse and meet our role in Norad and NATO. And we can't let our 4 Vic class boats age out and loose the crews and all the training and infrastructure that goes with them. A clean overlap is essential.

Batch 2 is increased to 10 VLS cells and equipped with a lithium ion battery, greatly increasing the submerged time and cruising distance. Batch 3 has not been decided whether it will proceed with nuclear submarines or improved diesel submarines. Batch 3 has a minimum tonnage of over 5000 tons. The development of small nuclear propelled reactors to be mounted on nuclear submarines has already been completed.

I've heard it's decided with 2000 tons with AIP-Lithium Ion but more made for stealth capabilities and will be used for spying and surveillance missions. 5000 tons nuclear power is pushed to KSS-IV project.

South Korea Hanwha Ocean has upgraded their offer from an improved Jang Bogo-class (Type 209) diesel electric submarine to the KSS-IIIPN called 'Improve Jangbogo-IIIPN class' with a surface displacement of 2,800 tons, a top speed of 21 knots and a length of 77-meters which is smaller then the KSS-3 Dosan-Ahn Changho-class which is nearly 84-meters. Probably due to the removal of the AIP and VLS tube removes as their deemed 'not necessary' at less for now!

There are no Chinese-made parts in Korean weapons. But it is used a lot in your country. The reason is because the price is cheap. However, Chinese parts are of poor quality.
