They should've just made another story RPG. Those games were actually quite good.

Whenever I saw IGN, I immediately IGNore it. Positive or Negative review, right or wrong, IGN is IGN.

I mean I feel like $30 is a fair price. It looks better than the $70 skull and bones, or suicide squad.

Can we just get a remake or remaster of SouthPark N64? That's all I want

The reason the other 2 games were so good is because South Park Digital Studios LLC Co developed it and the creators of southpark even said that they were sick of southpark games being shit so they wanted to do it themselves and this game was developed by a totally different studio that's why I was worried about it as soon as I heard that fact

I think this wasnt made by the tray parker and matt stone, dont remember if it was obsidian or ubisoft’s idea that originally the stick of truth was gonna be based on another world, but the creators of south park said “that wont work, if its a south park game, u gotta make it crappy “

Didn't know you are a fellow Coloradan. I don't ever remember smelling sewage but I remember it always smelling like a moldy swimming pool. And the cheese enchiladas were at least edible lol. A lot of good memories though. I loved the cave.

They should have gone full Dynasty Warriors with this one. Big absurd powers and hordes of enemies swarming you. They could have done it in the style from the episode where the boys play with weapons. Add some diversity to the combat by having hordes of homeless people or Crab People.

I used to go to casa Bonita on field trips during summer daycare in elementary school. I guess they cleaned it up when we came cause although the food sucked. The arcade always worked and it didn't smell like sewage. This was 20 years ago though

Sincerly i have a solid good time on this game between your skill, card mod différent every game and each mission is never the same every time you reset aaaand the 4 free survival mode for 30 bucks its a big deal for me

It’s just really not what we wanted. Stuck of Truth and Fractured But Whole are amazing and is just a winning formula they should’ve built on.

Imagine if they did a pokemon one, where the kids of South Park imagine cats, rats and so on as dragons and whatever else turn based like the first two games. Much would have been perfect.

I just think the guys are checked out, they got 900 million from Paramount and have been putting out less and less content. It's honestly sad to not even get a full season of South Park, but now the games are coming out with low effort and really no hype.

Wish they had gone in a direction more alike to Castle Crashers, if this was the idea for the game.

Pretty disappointed with the art style and gameplay changes, but I'll wait and see for myself if i like it or not. Glad it's at a lower price point that makes sense

Just my opinion, but why not just have made a 2D side scrolling beat em up? Wouldve been around the same price & wouldve retained that 2D look people already loved , would've still had 4 player brawler co op & could've had a rougue lite survival mode & it wouldnt have had to be super long but still could've have replay value , tmnt shredder's revenge, streets of rage 4 , river city girl games etc are popular enough to where it could've worked out probably better than this

That has been my experience also that generally when critics pan again. I end up liking it. Perfect example as the old velvet assassin from Xbox 360. Slammed and destroyed by critics. Still liked it and I have a feeling it will be that way with this one. I just have to see if I can get it on my switch.

Agter watching a bunch of reviews and playing the game (and admittedly returning it) what Ive deduced is this: Its a south park skinned button smasher with some light strategy. Ive seen where its been said Matt and Trey like different styles of games. One more of a button masher story driven game and one more rpgs and strategy based games. I think the first game (SoT) was important to go with a purely winning strategy in order to avoid another gag release people just made fun of. Matt and Trey couldnt put TOO much of their own personal touch on it outside of the writing and had to let the game guys make it work. It went so well it opened up the door for a second with more money behind it. The more fleshed out 2nd game reflected that. It had more of their personal touch to it and had the rpg and strategy playstyle one of them wanted. It also went over very well. I think the series is literally just to a point to where they could take a chance and real self service a game the OTHER really wanted with that beat em up button smash type of play with some minor strategy still involved. They've already made their money and if the game hits, cool. If not, the rpg strategy guy says, "see. Told you." Idr which is which in what they prefer, but if you think Matt Stone and Trey Parker are above making two different games to settle a debate on which style is "better", ya'll really dont know south park at all. 😅😅

I really feel the game is more so to test the co op aspect. I mean I wanted to play the 2nd south park game with my buddies. I mean a south park multi-player Co op game seems so fun imo. I feel this one is to test that, and new graphics and other small stuff like that and not so much the story. Or they are just getting greedy

I actually enjoyed it. The only things I will agree with the reviewer on is there is indeed no shocking South Park moments and overall toned down behavior and that with certain loadouts the game is very easy. I don't think judging it from the bar that Stick and Fractured set is a fair starting point since this is obviously very different. The story is very meta to those games though, they bring up from the start how one player always ruins the games because they get overpowered (you). Takes place after Fractured and finishes a story from the show. I never found myself bored when fighting or exploring and finding Easter eggs. And even after beating it there's still a lot to do. For the price I think it's a good game.

Love how instead of judging the game and comparing it to other rougelikes everyone is just comparing them to the RPGs you can’t do that, that’s like comparing fruit to vegetables like wtf also giving this a 3 and Diablo 4 the most repetitive shit off all time a 9?

I thought this was a remake of the original Ps1 Southpark game I have.

This game looks like if it was made in the PS2 era. This game has the same vibe as the Simpsons Hit & Run. Except Hit & Run was fully open world and much longer

I have seen other reviews with much better remarks than the reviewer at IGN. I pre-ordered it because hey $30 bucks vs a $70 price tag and because of THQ putting out some good stuff. I think the IGN review was to critical. Will find out later today when my copy arrives.

Got it on the Switch.... This is the one time I had to agree with a review from IGN. Got it for PC and Switch. Play combat definitely feels unpolished, there's enemies that can hit you so hard that you go flying outside the map and could be completely stuck. The only powers that are useful are the fart jump ability and the barrier because I love areas you're going to have to deal with people shooting at you from range. Your damage never feels like it's getting better, enemies get to play more cards than you and one part has you run from a flaming vehicle while you have to try to fight off all the enemies and unlock a door which wouldn't be so bad if the vehicle wasn't moving so fast. Sadly, this game is pretty bad even without the South Park humor and story.

I just wish the art style was like the other 2 games. The whole drive I felt for the South Park games was feeling like I was in the show, and the 3D art style removes that charm.

To be fair IGN is one of the sites with the lower scores. Other sites are giving it a higher score. We’ll have to try it out for ourselves

The Fractured But Whole felt like a mobile game

This game baffled me, so going through the prerelease footage this game was mostly designed by Matt Stone without Trey Parker not because he was busy with Casa Bonita but because Trey loves RPGs but Matt loves Hack and Slash games so Trey let Matt take a stab at his idea for a video game. I hate the "it's just $30" argument too. There are so many awesome games that are always on sale for under $20, why there are so many fanboys defending an "it's fun with friends... Kinda" type of game. I mean the Yakuza games or the early Borderlands games (pre-sequel and before) have more irreverence than this South Park game... I hope Trey takes the reins for the next game.

You say the reviews are in. you look at one,I've seen six reviews for this who said it's a fun game you shouldn't go by one review especially IGN.

It looks bad to me and i adore South Park. Also did you guys see the trailer with Matt and Trey talking? Trey looked utterly miserable and barely says a word, I get the feeling this game wasnt his call or his vision

They could have done a lot more with this game but it’s really not that bad. I’m having fun

Is there crossplay?

Balloon wand and you don't ever have to melee or aim or anything but it's so lacking in actual south park that I haven't even finished it yet

I love the side scroller SP games but the animation in this one is just not good. They need to do more RPG style games.

I noticed after watching that, you were watching an IGN review. Now it makes sense on the personal shit talking of the game. I saw that they were praising it when they first played it, and now this. The same people who gave Skull and bones, and starfield a 7/10. I would trust your review Luke, not that bullshit. That reviewer sounds like southpark pissed him off recently. You can say you don't like a game without being a dick. I wish more reviewers acted like you.

I think it’s a fun little game for $29. I’ve bought $70 games that I had less fun with.

Feels like a mobile game

IDK dude I feel like a 2.5D at best for a South Park game. But at this point they put themselves into a corner where they are giving a game that is like the show in every way. Even a app game thats like the show in every way. There is zero way to turn their game into a 3D game. IDK man... They screwed themselves I feel. Its the STANDARD at this point for South Park Games.

I think this game got unfair wrap. I mean, what do people expect? It’s a $30 game. It looks fun to me. It’s one of those games that you turn on you played you turn your brain off. It’s just a fun game. It’s gonna be a game of the year or win any awards or make any groundbreaking changes and video games. But it’s just on. And in the end isn’t that we all wantjust for a game to be fun

i understand why it was giving 3 out of 10 its fun to play yes but look at all the perks you can unlock but there is 5 chapters then the game ends really stick of truth is longers whats the point of all these perks in snow day if there only 5 chapters feels like if it still beta.

I'm sorry, I was taking the venom in that IGN review pretty seriously until I went the store and saw the game was 30 bones. I'm not saying that fixes everything, but I mean at least they're not asking 60-70 bones for this compared to the last two games given what this is. I'm sure there are flaws but they seemed to price it accordingly to what it offers this time.

The difference in quality of the game's say what you want about Ubisoft but the last 2 game's was Ubisoft and now Snow day is THQ BUT PERSONALLY I JUST HAVEN'T FOUND SOUTH PARK FUNNY ANYMORE IN YEAR'S PROBABLY EVER SINCE THEY WENT FROM EPISODIC TO SEASONAL ARK AND JUST FEELS LIKE SOUTH PARK HAS GONE ON TO LONG PAST IT'S LIFE SHOULD CANCEL IT

Sad....Stick of Truth and Fracture But Whole are genuinely phenomenal games. It's very paper mario esq going in a completely different direction. Only difference is Super Paper Mario is at least a good game.

Got to remind everyone, that this is IGN... I take usaly what ever they say with a grain of salt. So if I listen to em, I would never have gotten the game. So I grabbed the game, and its not that bad, So far, I have enjoyed my way trough a 2 hours of the game right now. A run trough of the game is fine :)

I feel like this reviewer is being unnecessarily aggressive in his take as someone who holds south park dearly to me I imagine I’ll get countless hours of fun out of this game

No idea why people were hyped for this. I lost interest soon as i saw them completely change the art style. Stick of Truth/But Hole made me feel like i was in the show, the visual style was that good! Also the gameplay here looks more like generic arena combat, instead of the turn based rpg combat/town exploration of the prior games. I just didn't feel the vibes with this game.

IGN could've continued their recent short-lived streak of being respected by the community, but they just had to say that Resident Evil 5 is racist for taking place in Africa..
