I mean Gomez even played there for Liverpool for a large part of the season. Why is Konsa even going there, he doesn't play there and never has. It's clear the balance isn't working so get Gonez out there, or change to 3 at the back and have wing backs that aren't actually wingbacks

I think Southgate will leave either way, and I have been a fan of his over the years. But he’s tinkering with one player in midfield thinking it will solve the issues while there are massive issues elsewhere which he’s not leaning from. And he’ll start the same 11 that have done nothing in 4 games on the trot

It showed Ollie Watkins warming up at some point, and even when England were down and out, not even a sniff of being subbed on. I'd just fly home if I were him and ditch playing for England. The disrespect to not even play him when he does everything Kane hasn't in this tournament... He runs, he presses, he gets on the end of chances and plays high up to keep the defenders pinned back.

Reality is, they compliment each other well and they're different enough to make up for each other's weaknesses. Toney makes a ton of space for other players by engaging in the physical battle with defenders so he naturally draws players towards him. It makes spaces for players like Kane to run into and he's able to pick tricky and smart passes in these moments, we've seen him do it all the time with Mbuemo. That's exactly what you need against a low block. He wins his aerial duels too, something we desperately needed and lacked with those crosses coming in, and usually ending up in the keepers hands or a Slovakian head. It could be the way to go against Switzerland in a 4-4-2. Throw Gordon in as a wife midfielder with rice, Bellingham and Saka Back line of Tripper, Gomez (until Guehi is back), Stones and Walker. Switzerland struggle against sides that sit a bit deeper. And they can be caught out by Kane and Toney with the pace and quality of Gordon and Saka supplying both of them.

Problem is, that was Slovakia. We've got to beat Switzerland yet, and then (likely) Austria, and then Spain, Germany possibly France. All of those are much harder games than any we've played so far and we're nowhere near the top teams in the tournament. Having Southgate as manager is the ultimate handicap.

You can't keep relying on Kane and Jude to bail you out though.

The luck will run out.

It took us until like the 90th minute to have a shot on target. If we're that bereft of attacking confidence, we won't even get that against better footballing nations.

No disrespect to the teams England have played but any top 5 side in this tournament would have a field day against England with these performances. We have limped to 2 wins and two draws, Scored 4 goals and the players seem to have no idea what the game plan is.

Foden isn't a left winger. He should be where Bellingham is if he's going to play. Then you can play Bellingham deeper and potentially have more control over the game and have Gordon on the left to hug the touchline. There's just no balance to the team. He's trying to fit players in and accommodate Judes position for Madrid but it isn't working.

@@Bobby_sprinklesFoden has played at LW for club many times fine. The narrative that he needs to be accommodated when he’s yet to have done anything significant in an England shirt is asinine. He comes off and they score two in 5 mins. They need more balance and that left wing needs to be addressed. Both Trippier and Foden need to be dropped.

@@Bobby_sprinkles jude has been playing in the exact position for England for years, Henderson and Phillips were the other midfielder. Jude had also won two games for England so far this tournament, why should he accommodate for Foden?
