I love this anthem. It's so majestic and the lyrics are so hopeful and inspiring to the people. It's even simple to sing making the unity brought by the song to be ever greater. Sadly this had almost nothing to do with the real Union. The only thing good about the Union was the lyrics of this song lol.
The greatest nation of history was this nation of workers who helped all of us to have better working conditions, better salaries hope for the equal future of all. This anthem makes us feel great because this nation of workers was exactly that: GREAT!

Ukraine in Soviet times was the second richest country in Europe after the USSR itself, Russians and Ukrainians were best friends, there was no nationalism, racism and prejudice, the fertility rate was one of the highest in the world, zero unemployment, non-existent depression , free housing and transport and electricity for all, there was no corruption and oligarchs, medicine and any treatment and surgical procedure and routine exams were free, good times.
The cold war was one of the dumbest things of the 20th century. The U.S. saying the Soviet Union was going to invade and attack them WHICH NEVER HAPPENED and making movies like Red Dawn & The Hunt For Red October didn't help. The one thing I like about the Soviet Union is they were our allies in WW2 and forced the Nazi's to surrender when they captured the capital of Germany Berlin. The Soviet Union anthem kicks ass.
