The design of Borf is oddly similar to Nessus the Centaur from Disneys Hercules which came out over 10 years after this game. They both have blue skin, red nose, similar rings around their eyes and of course the same happy expression. I looked around the web and found no connection between the designers Don Bluth and Gerald Scarfe so it's likely just a coincidence.
