For all of my videos, I really want to have an open forum with my viewers and subscribers. Obviously, I have a passion for space and I want to share my experiences in the Air Force and in the new branch as we transition into the United States Space Force. Through my videos, I will also provide the latest space news updates and bring in interviews with space professionals, enlisted and officer personnel, recruiters, etc.

Loved stumbling on these videos. I’m about to wrap up 9 years of being enlisted in the Army and I’m in the process of trying to join the 310th Space Wing with the AF Reserves as a 1C6X1 (I hope I got that right). I’ve got a non-STEM degree currently, but I’m working on a mechanical engineering degree part-time. I’m hoping I can eventually commission as a 13S either after some time as an enlisted space operator or once I finish my degree.

congrats, I hope you get to board one of the spacecrafts I loaded in the 90s. My joy ride to 97k feet was awesome!!! I was a 60555 until it became 2t251, then I became a 2t171 but my real afsc was 99999q until it became 9Q999 which was the designation for OSI/intel/inbed in units who were not aware you were one of those. I hope you get to see some of the awesome magnetic skin crafts with their ion lift/propulsion 'drive'. OMG I have so many favorites of the secret craft systems but most are still classified.... ohhh rotating detonation engines were also cool. I was 436 APMF.

SUBSCRIBED! Thank you for the info! Getting out of the Army soon and looking at enlisting in the reserve or guard as I complete my STEM degree and later commission! In the mean time, any advice on what jobs i should request from the recruiter that would best set me up for success to head in the direction of Space Force??

I would stick to the career fields that are transferred from USAF to USSF. It is not 100% guaranteed to transfer since the future of transfer/recruiting is still unknown.

Do you know if and when they will hire social workers into Space Force. I am in the Army currently and will have my Masters in Social Work in a year. I would love to serve Guardians and be in the Space Forces Medical team.

I am praying that we stick with USAF ranking! But we shall see! At the end of the day it's the same paycheck.

It really was! Left there in 2014 but would go back in a heartbeat. Once I finish OTS Ill be shooting to get back to Colorado Springs again thought since thats been my favorite spot so far

Yea the springs is inevitable when you are in space command. Im out in the panhandle right now and highly recommend it if you can get a spot here, the beaches are unreal.

I’m currently a senior in high school with no military experience and my dream is to get into the USSF as soon as possible. It seems the only way is going the 1c6 route but biased off my research it seems like a very unlikely and rare job to be offered(please let me know if this isn’t true). Do you know of any other enlistment career pathways in the USAF that will guarantee me an option to transfer to USSF? I plan on talking to a USAF recruiter soon do you think recruiters are even offering career paths to transfer into the USSF or will my recruiter likely make me pursue other options?

It all depends on the recruiter, some may be really helpful for you to pursue your dream or some may try to push you into the AF. So the only thing is that the USSF is very new so they are still working the recruiting piece, so you are correct that the 1C6 is the only direct route at this time (besides 13S, officer version of job). They are transferring other jobs such as intel, cyber, acquisitions, etc. (more info on my Space Force Career Fields video). HOWEVER, the AF members that will transfer went through an application process and are vetted through (not 100% transfer acceptance). So you could talk to a recruiter and tell them that the only job you are interested in is 1C6 and get on a list and wait around, and (hopefully by the end of this year at the latest) there will be more information on USSF recruiting. Hope this helps!

Deb Garcia I commissioned in December 2019 and I’ll be transferring to the Space Force next week. I am a 13S, otherwise known as a Space Officer.

Hi I'm currently 33 y/o and I don't have a family and I really want to go to space, however, I'm still a permanent resident and will get my citizenship when I turn 35. I would like to go into the air force as an officer so that I can possibly transition faster into the space force because permanent residents or immigrants only can get on the enlisted side and going to transition to space force will take longer than if I wait for my citizenship and go the aforementioned route. Am I correct with my thinking? I do have a Ph.D but it is in physical therapy, do you think it will be a good degree in getting into the air force and the space force at that? Your videos are very informative and I can feel your passion at going to space too. It was a blessing that I clicked on your video, I was actually looking for how officer training was done. So thank you for your videos and thank you for your service!

You should definitely get in contact with your local USAF Health Professions Recruiter with that degree! You can commission into the USAF up to the age of 41 for health professions. However, the health professions do not have a chance to transfer over to the USSF. If you don't have an interest pursuing that route bring it up to the recruiter to see if there are any other options due to your degree and age. Hope this helps!
