Man this brings me back to my childhood and playing with my dad. This was one of the first games we played through together. Thanks for putting this together :)
@@DosGamerMan On top of that, Sierra is now owned by Activision Blizzard. It'll never happen. Especially after the disastrous "reboot" of King's Quest.
Such a shame that this was the final installment in the Space Quest Saga. I would have loved for them to at least made it to ten so we could see how they tied Roger's time jump into the story line. Ahh, what could have been....
Sierra On-Line released so many great games in the 1980's and 1990's. In fact, i played many of these games... - LEISURE SUIT LARRY - POLICE QUEST - SPACE QUEST - KING'S QUEST - HERO'S QUEST (A.K.A., QUEST FOR GLORY) ...on my Amiga 500. The old classic games rule! 😺👍
The Narrator for this game made me laugh so much as a kid. This is the kind of slapstick game that they need to remake but not overdress. Alot remakes are taken way too far out of context as to only have the name being the only real similarity. Favorite part was checking everything out on a screen and being entertained the entire time.
Yeah, such a shame we lost him in 2015. He definitely made a big difference in the tones of SQIV, SQVI & LSL6. Can't imagine anyone replacing him as the narrator of those games.
This might sound dumb, but I feel like some of the Starcon members (like Kielbasa) might’ve been paid off by Sharpei to not investigate Project Immortality and/or had Roger sent to her room to kill him off. The fact Kielbasa tried to force Roger to return wasn’t more of him stopping Roger from doing something stupid but more to prevent Roger from screwing up any plans that can get Starcon into real legal issues
I find it highly unlikely that anyone could figure out all of these puzzles without buying a hint-book (or looking online). Some of the solutions are just WAY too unlikely.
Space Quest is one of my most favorite computer game series, especially SQ6. If there was a SQ7, it would be titled something like “A Force Gets Broken.” It is a wordplay on “Star Wars - The Force Awakens.” I wish they would release SQ7 soon in my life.
The "I'd like to thank each and every one of you" followed by 50 thank you's joke is stolen directly from Steve Martin's stand up routine from the late seventies. Still funny though.
Returned the Eureka ... it blew up at the end of V. Guess they stopped trying trying to make the game not suck and went full suck in the first 2 minutes.
This came out when I hardly did any adventure games anymore. I was a bit dissapointed by the cartoonish look and thought its graphics were bad compared to Space Qusest IV (Did see V, but never played it). I got stuck quite soon in the game and put it aside. However months later I tried again and find some stuff quite amusing and considered the game not as bad as on first glance. Cant remember the storyline however except for some parts, but I am sure watching this will bring back some memories. Realy like all the Sierra online youtube walkthroughs. It brings back some fun moment from a piece of history. I doubt these kind of games will ever be back. Edit: now I have watched this, it turns I hardly cant remember the 2nd part. I wonder if I ever finished it. It contains a load of boring cutscenes. Not the best product of Sierra.
Surprise! These types of games are back. (See the latest Monkey Island release for more info.) Though honestly, they never quite left. They just went into hiding for a bit. You can find a ton of modern Point and Click Adventure games on GOG and Steam, including Kathy Rain, Deponia series / pretty much anything by Daedallic, Syberia, Beyond a Steel Sky, Bradwell Conspiracy, Jenny LeClue, and many more. Those are just the big names. There are a number of indies who put out adventure games that are fun in their own right. AR-K series is a lot of fun for example, though I'm patiently still waiting for the final episode.
these puzzles are asinine...no way anyone did this without a guide. sierra as awesome and revolutionary as they were, with king's quest, Leisure Suit Larry, Police quest, quest for glory, etc, and as amazing as these games made my childhood, looking back as an adult, its clear some of their titles and puzzles were cash grabs deliberately designed not to make any sense so you had to buy a book or call that 900 number in order to pass em. My parents almost killed me. I racked up like a hundred bucks calling that damn thing.
year was 1998...received a 'bondi blue' bubble iMac as an upgrade to my old one. it came with a book of CD-ROM games including this one. i was confused as all hell. what was Space Quest & where were the other 5? thankfully i already had Sam & Max and Day of the Tentacle under my belt. haven't bothered to look this up until now. hilarious game
Excellent job getting 501 points. As I have read, ordinarily 498 are possible because of two actions giving one less each, but I do know the game can glitch sometimes and give over 500.
2:38:05 "Anyway, I think you're going to like your next assignment." ... after the reference to Linda Lovelace, hmm, what kind of assignment this could be? :D
I found this a bit of a bullshit retcon "Lets make him a janitor again." I know Wilco is suppose to be the hapless hero, extremely lazy and incompetent, but I feel that some changes should be stuck too. Wilco could have remained a captain even if he did not have a ship or crew to command.
I agree. His actions in sq5 should have gotten him the medal of honor. He saves the lives of everyone on the starship Goliath. He had to abandon his ship saving his crew members or that primordial soup would have killed everyone on board
@@donniebrasco1364 Annoying example of wanting to maintain the status quo. Wasn't SQ5 done by one of the original developers, and SQ6 by the other one?
@@ukaszdziemianko7797 I think it had something to do with the producer or lead designer being different. But storywise, even in the setting of Space Quest this is a bad writing decision and rather pisses on the events of the previous game. I also find SQ6 a bit 'aimless' here and there. There is a longer running plotline but it feels sometimes that its absent until it is reminded that is suppose to be at work. I may be a bit biased as I am a Star Trek fan, at least was, and the idea of Roger going around commanding a ship and having a crew of his own is just much more enjoyable. Also can't help but be a little reminded of Red Dwarf as well.
At 2:56 I've seen crossfit athletes (men and women) get debriefed more thoroughly than that if they got in trouble with the law. Roger doesn't have to be so embarrassed. Employees at job get far worse.
+Tim Hendrix lol I had the exact same problem back then - I think... it used to crash somewhere around that part of the game ;( kind of satisfying to be able to see the whole game now
@@jcairns200 As a 38 year old man I am not ashamed to say that has haunted me all my life LOL. Thank you so much for telling me that, I even look through the book when I was a child and still couldn't figure it out
I never liked the cyberspace bit. As cool as it is, it and its music give me the creeps. And my version of the game tends to crash at this point so I'm on edge enough as it is. Still a fun game though
I wonder how many people even got the joke? One of the big pieces of background news at the time was how the government was investing to build the "Information Super-Highway". A name given to major upgrades to the internet backbone to support heavy commercial and multimedia activity. The project itself didn't really go anywhere (thus the joke about "Opening... NEVER!") but did provide some foundation to the upcoming DotCom boom.
@@operation1968 The entire cyberspace bit. Stellar refers to it as "The Information Super Highway", which then shows up as a bunch of confused and broken roads (or "highways") when you "jack-in". You then get to a construction office where you see and "Opening Soon" sign that has dates crossed out several times and replaced with "NEVER". The inside of the office is just a Window 3.1 interface, showing how poorly run the whole thing is. This is all a play on the very real "Information Super Highway" project the US Government was investing in at the time.
No wonder Space Quest franchise died out after this... Bad script bad storyboard bad everything. It makes you regret SQ did not end after episode III, may be with some minor good calls during SQV
I didn't even had a decent computer to play this at the time it came out and watching this I find it very verbose and quite annoying or is it just how it is being playing to show the walkthrough ?
About power and control , and not needing to be a nazi to treat someone very badly ..... Someone said this really funny joke about how this one woman was going to use the police against some guy she called her husband ..... I didn't find it funny , myself , or really understand the humor of it , but I found it noteworthy because , wow , if that happened to me , that would be quite terrible . But I think that the message intended to be conveyed had something to do with making someone feel hurt and powerless , because power and control belonged to the person threatening to wrongly frame and to wrongly prosecute the other person , at *least* one more time . Ha ha , so funny .....
