Welcome back my friends to another frantic week of SpaceX’s Starship Development adventure as we watch the final rundown for SpaceX Starship Flight 4. Has the FAA REALLY Just Cleared the Way!? Exciting times, all around a quite bizarre mishap that threw a spanner in the works. Along with that, some more trouble causing further delays with Starliner, frustration showing from the Pentagon for the delivery of their future security missions with Vulcan Centaur, Starlink Group 6-58, Group 8-7 & Group 6-59, the G5 Solar Storm was epic, and a whole bunch more.

I think your theory about Ship 31's temporary change of career to a weld-master LOL You can see the very large ejection of cryogenic nitrogen when we see those huge sparks and then a continuous spray after the large burst.... I don't see any other possibilities ... not unless the short came first and it was so big that it melted a hole into the cryo-pipe which, under a bunch of pressure, ripped open and spit out a bunch of nitrogen.... but that really doesn't seem as likely.. I think the pipe bursting first, THEN the sghort7 happened from the wires becoming damaged. You mentioned hydraulic lines in the raceway too.... I'm fairly certain this wasn't a hydraulic line that broke.. it was for sure carrying cryogenic nitrogen..... if it was hydraulic fluid we would have seen it spraying everywhere and not that huge cloud.... PLUS it may have even caught fire from those sparks if it was hydraulic fluid..... I'm not sure if it's flammable, but if it is then it's a pretty stupid idea having it next to such high power electric lines... just in case of a situation exactly like this.... BUT during a REAL flight it wouldn't be nitrogen in those lines... so this could have lead to a HUGE RUD on the test stand!!!! - - - MAYBE SpaceX should consider NOT HAVING HIGH POWER WIRES NEXT TO THE ROCKET FUEL PIPES!!!!! - WHAT ARE THEY THINKING?!?!? (I REALLY hope I'm completely wrong about this, because that sounds like a REALLY STUPID placement and a disaster just WAITING TO HAPPEN!!) - It really seems like SUCH and EASY FIX too! they could run the electric line just outside the raceway and then just ADD ANOTHER COVER... this separates the electric from the fuel.. I mean WHO THOUGHT THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA?!?!? - - This is pretty important IMO Marcus... do you think you could ask Elon on X about this? He would respond to you before any of us and it's not just your channel that is bringing this up... Maybe you could get him to explain what this was :)
@Nobe_Oddy
@Nobe_Oddy Месяц назад
OHHH CRAP... SORRY!!! You said 'PNEUMATIC' pipe....not 'HYDRAULIC' pipes..... so do you mean it's AIR in those pipes, and not hydraulic fluid? In that case there shouldn't be any risk of fire (not unless they use O2 or methane as the 'air' lol I doubt that tho) - but still.... hopefully Elon could tell us about this one

Hey Marcus, oddball question for moving vehicles to KSC - if a booster was given a nose-cone addon for aerodynamic efficiency, could it fly itself high enough, or long enough downrange, from Starbase to make a landing at KSC?
@MarcusHouse
@MarcusHouse 29 дней назад
@@Nobe_Oddy Yea, we are not 100% sure what is contained in the raceway, but there is piping in there so PNEUMATIC seems a reasonable speculative guess.

But once Starship succeeds at multiple launching and re-entry splashdowns and catches. Dragon could be a major spoiler if Space X uses it. It allows Space X to time mitigate the manned certification portion of launch, refueling, and reentry of Starship. Allowing Space X to use the certified Dragon as a taxi for the crew once in orbit after launch or refueling, or even leave before reentry. Congress may begin to defund some of that. Not the early stuff that is already in progress. Probably the later launches that ULA will go hat in hand asking for more money.

And with that said, there are still people saying that starship will never succeed. Idk how people can be so willfully obtuse. Idk, I tend to think that it’s just obsessive “Elon derangement syndrome”. In fact a buddy of mine who loves everything space, but hates Musk, he always tells me that SpaceX loses money on every launch, there’s no way they turn a profit, it’s all a money shell game, the rich do it all the time, Falcon 9 isn’t truly reusable, it more than likely costs them more to refurbish the booster/engines than to simply build new, and on and on and on… No matter what anecdotes or even proofs to the contrary I provide him, he refuses to budge. It’s almost like it’s political with some…🤔….😳….hey, wait a minute??

After years and years of problems and troubleshooting Starliner was going to carry people on that flight and they only found out that the pressurant of their propulsion system was leaking out (of a single thruster flange) by accident after the flight was scrubbed. That's not a minor issue that can be dismissed so easily like "so doesn't seem like an issue that will hold things up long". Boeing is infamous for its safety record and coverups, we can't just take their word for it.
@Cloudminster
@Cloudminster Месяц назад
Well it’s certain you wouldn’t be a pioneer any time soon. This is exactly how boundaries are pushed. We won’t be going anywhere without many accidents along the way and people dying. That’s how it’s done son. Your feelings of safety when you fly are due to many many people dying during the first 50 years of flight.

@@johnbrobston1334 Well yes but we fell off didn't we...interest, money and methods were very limited in creativity and strategy. We have to essentially 'redo' (1 through 5 in order to go 1 through 10) it over and we are now doing it at such scale compared to the single-threadiness of yesteryear. No point in denying that. But it now feels as though we're getting somewhere and having to break eggs doing it. I sometimes wonder if we're on a clock none of us are aware of in the general arena - like they something we don't and this is a back up plan to keep humanity going in the event of something ELA like. But I also know that I am likely a dreamer too!

Sleeping above the Arctic circle is a bitch in the summer. Especially now that magnetic north is gone past 24 degrees west declination increasing towards 24.5 East declination decreasing once we pass the centre of the nucleus separating the Sun's double torus OOrt cloud magnetosphere. At least Noah's SE to NW new moon tidal tsunamis don't wash across the continents up there. Old & New testament covenant along with a New Commandment to unite us all. Jesus did say all would be revealed and he would write the truth about the crossing of the Sun's magnetic equator on your heart. Your heart & brain are like the earth's double torus magnetosphere & the Sun's OOrt cloud magnetosphere is a glory & the Galaxies Fermie cells are another kind of magnetosphere glory. It's not you. It's not CO2. It is the earth's orbits crossing the ecliptic of the Sun's double torus OOrt cloud magnetosphere for the next millennium. These are just the birthing pains of this the millennium of climate change end times. Mystery of the 7 star crossings Jesus held in his hand is Obliquity in the Galactic Milanovitch climate cycles. The truth shall set humanity free from the pharaohs/pharisees. Come to Jesus as time is short & your worm never dies.

I really thought that once the BE4 engines were delivered and the first launch was essentially flawless, ULA was over the hump and we would see launch cadence increasing steadily and significantly. Now we learn that ULA is up for sale (let us hope that powers that be don't convince themselves that letting BO buy it is a good idea) and probably won't launch for 8 or 9 months from their first launch. And the US Space force is publicly expressing doubts about ULA's ability to fulfill its contract obligations. What a debacle! (That's not the word I really wanted to use -- it's kind of prissy!)
@MichaelWinter-ss6lx
@MichaelWinter-ss6lx Месяц назад
Well now that BO have ramped up their engine production, ULA may recieve a new rocket engine every 5 months. Vulcan needs a total of 3 rocket engines. But this is only my perception of the situation. It could be worse. 🚀🏴‍☠️🎸

@@MichaelWinter-ss6lx 1 engine every 5 months?? That's nowhere near enough to achieve the cadence needed for them to fulfill their government contracts. At this point why would it be a bad thing for Blue Origin to buy ULA?

@@MichaelWinter-ss6lx Vulcan needs a total of 3 rocket engines. I'm pretty sure that Vulcan only uses 2 BE-4 per flight.

@@dirtypure2023 At this point why would it be a bad thing for Blue Origin to buy ULA? The delays for Vulcan were Blue Origins delays on the engines. Why give the source of the problems more control? It wasn't till Vulcan first flew that I heard Bezos say "we are looking at building an engine factory". So when will they go into full production rather than having the development people basically hand build them one at a time? The Blue Origin motto seems to mean "dawdle all you can we will likely get there some day".

The reason why the shells are cut that way is because its easier for the crane to maneuver them off. Instead of going all the way up, with the cut, it can be moved when lifted half way, (contingency). Thanks for another great episode. Awesome!

The sky was clear and the sunset just right so I was able to see the 6-59 second stage, fairings, and booster from across the state near Tampa. With a clear sky can usually see the flames of a Cape launch but the sun reflecting off the bodies made this one a great viewing. Followed them down until they disappeared below the horizon.

I think someone forgot to open a valve or a valve got stuck. In hydraulic situations, it's known as deadheading. If you're moving pressure through a pipe and there's no place for the pressure to go, you'll blow a pipe or a hose. In this case, it looks like a pipe blew, and as it bent over, it crimpped a few wires and caused a short. And Bob's your uncle.

I find it amazing that the arms can move "100 tons" so precisely. Brute force with a delicate touch of precision? Simply cool, IMO.

There are only two Space Rocket companies i think that will pave the way here. SpaceX combined with Relativity Space Printing technology is the future of rocketry enabling construction of rockets possibly on other planetary bodies or on orbital platforms. They seem like they should be working together as they both want to go to Mars.

At about 11 minutes you can see the structure and how they paint the surfaces where the welds and cuts occur.... Even that looks like super high quality work... Such impressive engineering.... It would be fantastic if we could build with high quality in all circumstances in the same way...

The more I hear about ULA, the more I wonder why it even still exists. I get that we need multiple launch providers other than SpaceX but at this point it's like trying to prop up a horse and carriage company that can barely make enough carriages meanwhile Model Ts are just rolling off the line hot and ready.
