I was taught to also put in a slice of onion and a garlic clove when frying the rice. Looks good though!

I know this is for beginners, but shit a beginner can add a chopped onion and garlic (or least garlic powder) too. Also I use can of tomato sauce instead of purée but idk if that matters much.

Maybe because this is Spanish rice not Mexican rice, maybe the Spaniards have less spicy food and more chilli and stuff in Mexican rice

Try putting in a half can of tomato sauce(the little can) and do 1 3/4 cups of water instead of 2, after you add the water and it starts to simmer cover it & cook on low heat for 20 min, without uncovering until done. Hope this helps! Been making this rice for almost 30 years😊

@@lynettelaroche8868 Thank you! I’ve seen my mom make it a million times, so I get the gist of it, but I keep messing it up. So typically I end up buying it already made (only after failed attempts). Homemade is always better so I’ll try again 😊

Do yourselfs a favor and only use half a teaspoon of 5 spice. Not half a tablespoon like her website says. It’s way too much and makes the dish gross.
