This is my video outlining my install process for the SPD Turbo Adapters on your Ecoboost Powered F-150 and Raptor without removing the downpipes. It can be done in your driveway between 1-2 hours.
There is a lot involved with removing the downpipes and this is by far a much easier way to do this install. If for some reason you cannot removed the turbo studs I would recommend removing the downpipes.
The Video Shows the Tools necessary and sound comparison on my 2017 Raptor.
The truck in my opinion drives much smoother and certainly makes more power.

Your process works just like you said. Thank you!! If I had to do it again, I would say 1-2 hours is all it takes. My only additional ideas are: Use a culinary butane torch. They cost $20-$25 and that did the trick on mine. (Ask your wife first, as she may have one in the Kitchen - like mine did). Wobble extensions - I used 3 - are a must. Heat on the hot side of the turbo - behind each stud where they are driven into the hotside of the turbo (not on the stud itself) is a must. The installation kit is a must because you really should replace the gaskets that come with the kit and I did damage one stud in removing it. The nut extractor as shown in the video is a must. The nuts on the studs do not require heat to remove. They are only tightened to about 30 ft-lbs so mine cam right off with a ratchet with minimal effort. The only thing I had to remove was the big black skid plate. I also used the ratchet strap to pull back the downpipe about 1/2" to 1" just like on the video. Not much at all.

Great video. Using your trick with the ratchet strap I was able to get my adapters installed in about 2 hours. Even with one of the studs giving me a hard time and not wanting to break loose.

FYI,..a Torch is hard to control with the risk of the flame going in all directions. Use an Electric Heat-gun instead...easier to control and considerably minimizing the risk of a Fire. I did the same SPD installation on my 2012 Ecoboost,..with WD40 and some good heat the studs came off smoothly!

Is there any reason why you didn't try using an impact wrench with those wobble extensions and that cool stud extractor you have?

How did you tighten the studs when you re installed them? Did you just use a Cresent wrench on the end? How tight do you go?

There is a special socket that has the same shape as the tip of the studs...but the female end...iirc Snap on sells them. BUT I am sure it is like $100+ lol. I wish I could post a pic of it. I found out about it AFTER I installed mine. A crescent wrench wont get it done though. :)

What do you suggest SPD adapters 1st or catless dp 1st? Great video by the way

j ace same time because you'll need to take the downpipe off to do the adapters anyways. Save for both and you'll save on install
