@k1kN1t we carry both chrome and black, the ones we feature here are the black ones. and as far as which one will look better with a silver jetta, the preference is up to you, both will get equally as rusty/dirty depending on how you take care of it.. you probably will just see the dirt less on black

For everyone wondering why the led lights won't come on without the headlights being on, you need a euro switch. I have personally owned these headlights. Also, the fog lights will not turn on with the normal switch, again, you'll need a euro switch. You'll also need to run wires to the euro switch from the fog lights. Its a total bitch to do and I wouldn't recommend anyone to dive into it without any prior knowledge. Again, I'm not talking out my ass here. I've owned these lights (unfortunately) and have knowledge about Volkswagens.

@icarion23 you mean your halo's and leds? your fog lights are completely different. yes you have to splice the wires for your halos and leds

@carlosmercadoabarca Depends how you are observing the issues on your car. Do you see them come on and off without without any warning. A loose connection might be a more reasonable issue. Since the LEDs lasts very long and should not have gone out on you yet. Have the lights on; carefully follow the headlights backwards to the original tapping source and wiggle it around a bit. if your LED begins to flicker, you can rewire them again. Good luck, thanks

@icarion23 by the fog lights, i assume you are talking about your halo's? Splice the Halos and LED wires together, then connect them to your parking lights. that should work

@samy916 it would be a different concept as far as removing, however installation on headlights are usually the same process. your wiring will differ tho

@gurvir44 no it doesnt unless you wired incorrectly, our headlights are all plug n play.. no need for additional mods, but there are wiring required for halos and LED's

i want to install new headlights on my vw jetta 03 mk IV and i wanted to know if the conections on the back of the headlight are the way they appear on the video and only have to to plug the connector and be done as far as connecting the headlights. also, will these headlights will work with the euro style switch?

A couple questions: is this for the early model 1999 jetta or the late model 1999 jetta, sometimes referred to as 1999.5?

@carlosmercadoabarca I have the same problem with mine. I have the right light go out on me all the time. I have to turn my lights off, then back on to get them back on with both working. The LED's burned out on one, I cant calibrate the lights at all. They were a horrible purchase. I just installed my regular headlights with a HID conversion, and it works fanstastic!

i bought a r8 headlights for jetta but when i installed them one led wasnt workin, then at night, that led was working and almost all the leds of the other headlight werent working except for two, but they were working two hours before, do you know what can be maybe bad connection or something, please help me, it seem that they illuminate very very very very few (sorry about my bad english)

Are these chrome or black? Any idea what would look better with a silver jetta? Is it true that chrome last do not get as dirty/rusty or would it be the same if I went with black or chrome? Thanks

@Specdtuninginfo So these happened to me just an hour ago, i was at my job andthe parking lot is so dark i turn the lights on to see howterrible my car lookswithone headlight working and surprise, both headlights were working good again, so very happy i went home, when i arrive i wanted to see themagain and damn again, same problem, so is almost for sure that is a bad connection? can i do it myself or i need someone pro on it, thank you

@dryan084 it was very weird what happended with mines, it results that it was before rainning days, my car had a problem with the draining system or wich ever the name is, so the water was in my car, even the horn sound like it had catch a cold or something, after the car was dry everything was normal

Anybody have a link to a working wiring diagram for these R8 Projector Headlights for this same range 99-04 jetta? I don't find the suggested "Halo LED Projector Headlights Wiring Installation" to be as detailed as needed considering the car in the vid is installing different headlights? Please and thank you!

You got some cleared vids? I got his r8 projector with LEDs plugged in but the blinker function doesn't work and was told my flasher unit might not be compatible with these new lights and I might have to buy some flasher compatible unit. Really?

How would this work with factory daytime running lights? I took out the fuse to keep them off but how would these headlights operate?

+Donovan Grimsley Thank you for your interest in our products. The LED bulbs on these headlights are not plug and play. You will need to find a powered wire to splice the LED bulbs. The LED bulbs will only turn on when you have power going to the bulbs. I hope this information helps. Feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.

knightmare234 The high, low beam, and your turn signal lights will be plug and play, but you will not have the LEDs working on the headlights. Those are the lights you will need to wire to a power source.

These look horrible at night if you dont have the wiring done. I had to use my high beams at first and have yet to wire the other lights. Be prepared to have these wired before driving at night.

Is it just me or do the OEM headlights look way better? You guys would be better off doing an OEM style replacement, maybe with a projector like retrofit style. These lights just look hideous going down the road :/

I have been installed this on my 2003 jetta mk4 GLX for a year, and I still concern why the LED will not come on unless I turn on the headlight, when headlight switch is in "off" position, only the projector light is on which is the same as my stock headlight, the LED only turns on when I turn headlight switch to "on" position. Isn't it suppose to have LEDs on when "off" position? I changed them without doing any wiring. Should I do any wiring?

+Gerry Wu Sounds to me like the LED bulbs were wired straight to the low beam bulbs. You will need to test the wiring on the headlight harness and find the wire that powers your daytime running lights. Once you found that wire you can wire the LED bulbs so they work with your DRL.
