exactly how i'm building my Minecraft super mario bros recreation but i have goal poles and i'm thinking of using stairs that drop down to the castle levels
There should be some kind of plugin that does the splits for you. If all else fails, you could perhaps use AutoHotkey to look at the pixels underneath the word "WORLD" in the inventory or something...

Yeah, the princess was a toad for like one frame, then when the palette changed to 8-1s palette the toad transformed into the princess for some reason, lol
Mario running through this whole continuous mushroom kingdom like a maniac without stopping for one second adds a lot of urgency to him wanting to save peach.
Uhhm I was wondering if the level would work normally if you went above the castle level, mainly 6-4. I mean, you wouldn't be able to hit the axe or kill bowser right?
i think the level transitions are changed from being based on touching an object to reaching a certain x position, and the game doesn't stop scrolling at the end of a level, so theoretically you could just walk right over 6-4
Mod author here; you could totally go over top. I didn't think about that. When the level runs out of data to load, the counter increments, so you totally could go above.
Bowser locks the screen until you kill him, which there’s no way to do from up there, so the second he scrolled the screen past the entrance he’d have gotten himself stuck
@@UnknownJoe796 that would definitely be cool! I do suspect that a cutsceneless SMB2 USA wouldn't be too hard for someone--like just hijack the bird mouth animation and jump the game to the next level. (Also maybe boss death animations for the world transitions.) It wouldn't look fancy like your hack, but it seems doable for someone who knows NES code.
So now it's just a big IL without framerules, NOICE. Also it seems that hammerbros are always mad at you, i assume it's because technically the level hasn't changed.
22:47 - Those threw excess hammers as well. If I were to make a guess, the Bowser/hbro hammer throwing logic is shared, and something about the hack prevents Bowser's pattern from unloading after 7-4.
Sometimes when I watch a youtube video it throws in subtitles. For some reason this happens every time at Kosmic's entries. When he says 'warpless' it's translated to 'worthless'. Trust me your warpless runs aren't worthless.
This makes me picture a romhack that's the entire game essentially on one level and you just have to see how far you can get. Warps still work as usual (will take you to the beginning of a level's section), so speedrunners can easily beat the whole game before time runs out, but the warpless challenge is seeing how far you can go.
Hi Kosmic. I have some questions, because I want to make some speed runs of super mario: 1) how many times you practice? 2) to practice, you do all the game, or only a stage? 3) where did you know how to do the goitches and the perfects routes?
I can answer the 3rd one: Most of the time, the TAS community discovers all the glitches like FPG, BBG, but some RTA speedrunnners like Bubbler discovered using the emulator about Framerules. Glitches are used in situations where time needs to be saved to save a framerule. And the routes are calculated using framerules and how SMB generates randomness using the number of frames the NES was powered on
