Out final feature highlight video! Welcome to the Great Game, where the Great Powers, of the Russian Empire and Great Britain vie over Central Asia. Or, play as the nations stuck in-between these two opponent such as Herat and Persia, trying to gain what advantages you can against such large foes.

Will you also be able to intervene and get the afghan protectorate as an outside power like Prussia or France?

It will probably be hard for Prussia/France to do so since they don’t start off with any access to the Afghanistan region and it looks like even if you do manage to sphere them you still won’t be able to take advantage of the Journal Entry. At least you could force the JE to fail for Britain and Russia, but ig there would be no “victor” of the Great Game.

The Azerbaijan was for Persia, then Russia captured it, it has no special story

Very much so. I like what they showed, but it isn't past Paradox to just release garbage. I think they've taken care with this expansion, as they realise how important it is, but it may still be garbage

it doesnt matter how this works. People WILL complain about how it was better when '' Services '' and '' Transportation '' and '' Electricity '' was market wide and not local. People WILL complain and saythe '' Good old days '' Were better.

This would be way better if it was a dynamic mechanic instead of heavility scripted to only work with a couple of countries in a specific region.

I think it is nice to have historical scenarios being emulated. Dynamic mechanics are good up to a point, but if we want to actually feel imersed in the 19th century and deal with historical events that actually occured and with countries that have their unique characteristics than we need some heavily scripted events for specific regions. I don't want a generic simulation, I want to actually be in the shoes of the countries we can play as, dealing with the historical scenarios they actually had to face. Dynamic mechanics can't give you historical events with the same flavour.

no, keep stuff regional instead of it being dynamic or "emergent" especially when the base simulation model used to generate those events is flawed and not all-encompassing. What this game needs more is flavor, I wouldn't mind at all if we got GFM-levels of railroading as long as there's something to look forward to when playing different regions besides "I have coal/steel and need to conquer for oil/rubber" and vice-versa.

I feel like the Ottomans should be able to join the great game if they are able to complete the tanzimat given thier proximity of the region and most likey they'll become a great power if they successfully complete the tanzimat

One question that I have is how AI is going to work in this new upcoming patch. Is for example Prussian AI going to be able to form Germany easier, as well as Russian and British AI-s behaviour in the Great Game?

All right. Idea for my next run (as Colombia): Form Gran Colombia, join as Custom Union Junior of euther of the two and push their interests... That or be the best friend of Persia. Minding other countries Business as Colombia is my thing (maybe I will have to forfeit Africa colonies if I go with Russia or Persia).

Really cool. And since the developers seem to read the comments I just wanted to say this: the game is awesome, but could really benefit from a custom nation feature like in EU4. Being able to spend points on starting territory, starting technologies, starting leader traits and laws. That would make it the perfect political sandbox game

That's the feature I am looking forward to most. Vic3 needs more custom-built content and mechanics targeting specific historical circumstances at various points in the game's timeframe..

I really wish I could get into Victoria 3 but I tried and didn’t enjoyed mainly because I didn’t understood how wars are waged. It felt really different from all other paradox games, if the warfare was similar to EU4 or CK3 I would have no problem with it and would have a blast playing this game. Also I wish there was a 1914 start date, that would be crazy!

What's wrong I was so interested in great game😢 to play as persia But there are several bugs First when hazare and Tajiks and persian have the same language and religion, why we have to go to the multiculturalism to accept they culture and also most of the population of the Harat are persian but the state is only Homeland of pashtuns

The great game was one of the conflicts in the 19th and 20th centuries. Could you make a mechanic that would be used everywhere like Europe powers in Africa?

Too neat, cant wait to play the DLC. 420 hours Victoria 3 played already. :) Mostly much fun, but there is pathfinding issues around Gaza/Transvaal and Yemen/Somalia. Often Transvaal/Gaza cant be entered or armies there cant exit. Often capturing that area early game. Also armies might get into land much slower that AI armies. When capturing Etiopia and Yemen, winning units might suddently be too slow to follow moving frontline and start moving to odd detour routes to loose all progress and get throw into the sea.

Instead of making the great game you couldve fixed navies. Theyre still broken. Or fix multiplayer. Its stil broken (out of sync)

Multiplayer we have fixed a lot of out of sync issues for Update 1.7, and believe it should be a more stable multiplayer experience than 1.6.2

@@Victoria3Official didnt actualy expect a reply but thanks. in my opinion out of sync is not acceptable for a product in 2024. i wouldve loved to play vic with my friends but we got constant out of sync errors....
