Great review! I just found this after watching another guy reviewed it and was thee most impatient reviewer id seen. This guy was calm, had brains, and was very well explained when it came to the product. I may get it just to say I got it😂
Ok, I'm impressed. I have a client that is giving me one. I've been using my buddy's pit boss smoker grill and I love it. It is a performance cooking machine. I believe I can master the Webber as well since I'm already use to cooking in it with charcoal so I can't wait to use the pellet system. Good video, thank you 👍
Thanks for the review, nobody has talked about clean up!? The spider has room for a 1/2 tray under the meat to catch dripping big deal compared to other cookers.
It's a nice attachment but. The Recteq RT-B380 bullseye is also a 22 inch kettle grill that uses pellets and gets to 750 deg. Only $ 100 more for the whole grill with a stainless steel kettle at 399.00 free shipping. If you like the Spider 22, you'd love the bullseye.
Great Review Lou 👍 someone else reviewed it and did very poor job. You made it look impressive. Throw a cajon bandit stacker on there double your cooking area. It is a tad pricey at 279.00
Fantastic review. I think you may want to consider wrapping the diffuser tray in foil for easier cleanup. The only 2 improvements for me would be a grilling option on the diffuser which lets some of the fire through that you could open and close, and a digital controller to pick any temp you want....Oh and WIFI would be nice.
This is what I ended up doing with the Spider. Love it. Green Egg and Kamado Joe Pellet Adapter ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oqxMl9elmHs.html
Been running it just fine since I published the review in January 2020. I did switch it from a Weber to a Kamado Joe ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oqxMl9elmHs.html
Great informational video. I'm sold, however I just checked their website, and it's on back order. 😞 What are your thoughts 3 years later? Still a buy?
I literally have a Slow N Sear arriving for my Weber on Saturday. How much did this thing cost?? Seems like a neat solution though if you kind of want a trager but don’t want two grills.
I wish I knew about this before buying my small Weber. That way I would’ve bought the bigger Weber and upgraded to the pellet smoker later when I had some extra cash.
Excellent question and I can’t believe I forgot to cover that in the video. Duh!!! 🙄. At the bottom of the part that hooks under the Weber, there is an ash can. Twist slightly to unlock, pull down, dump ashes, and lock back in. Very easy and surprisingly few ashes actually.
Good question! With the lid tightly snapped shut during use, there is no way for smoke and moisture to escape through the pellet chamber, so very little gets in. Its like trying to blow into a milk bottle. I use this thing a few times a week and have never had any moisture issues with the pellets. When pellets get wet, they crumble into sawdust. These stay rock solid.
Nope. There are three bottom vents. The spider goes in one. The grease drips out another, and the third is just open. The top vents stay open too. The spider control the temp.
Fantastic review and video edit. There are a few reviews of this on RU-vid that, shall we say, speak more to the reviewer than the SPIDER-22. Your review really captures the potential. Would like to have seen the ash cleanout and how full that can got of grease during the pork butt!
Lol, yeah “MeTube” videos 😂. There are two byproducts. The grease drips into the pop can, and its not full yet after several cooks. The ash cleanout only needed to be emptied after 3 or so cooks, and there was only maybe a quarter cup of ash.
I've been disappointed with mine. It was clearly used when I received it. The large bolts on the side were stripped and you could see scrape marks on both sides of the exterior. Once I worked around that, I'm finding that the burner will only run for 6-7 hours before shutting down. The FAQ says turn it off, back on for 2 minutes then off again for 5 seconds to re set the burner. It works but only after a couple attempts. Pretty frustrating when you've got a couple pork butts halfway through a cook. Great idea, I still use it but it could definitely use some refinement.
Great video. I’m on the fence about it, and I have one last deciding factor. Do you think this will also work with the rotisserie attachment for the kettle? I can’t see why it wouldn’t, but what are your thought?
Absolutely I think it would work. The rotisserie attachment sits on the kettle basically like a lid. The lid sits on there fine with the spider, so it would too.
Greetings, may I inquire if you are still using the Spider 22 Weber Kettle accessory? If so, could you kindly provide information regarding its durability and overall performance? Your feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your valuable time.
I have been using it at least twice a week, year round, since Jan 2020. I had to replace the igniter, as you do in all pellet grills. I replaced the controller, but later realized it was just a fuse on the controller. They are easy to repair. See below. When I ordered mine, they were waiting on the covers to be in stock and notified me that it would be delayed. I just got my cover last week, I got the grill in November. I would recommend reaching out to Jeremiah on their webpage. He responds in minutes usually.
Thanks for asking. I never tried it, but just now did. Yep, its 32 degrees outside and it got up to 550 degrees. Searing temp is about 500, so no problem.
