I love this movie too, always have, but there is a lot wrong with it. The story is paced poorly, there's way too much going on to fit into one 2 hour movie. That's all Sony's fault, the movie was originally just meant to be Sandman but the execs forced Sam Raimi to include Venom and New Goblin, which threw the whole film out of whack. Sandman is great in this film, but needed more screentime. Harry's story is massively contrived. Venom isn't built up properly or explained well (Topher Grace was also hugely miscast here), nor is Peter with the black suit. If the film had been devoted to just one of the villains instead of all 3, it would've been fine. As it is, the film's a mess. Still a lot of enjoyable stuff in it though, and you can see bits of Raimi's original vision for it come through. Just a disappointment that Sony felt the need to meddle. That company absolutely ruined Spider-Man in film, and now they're ruining all his villains in standalone movies.

@@codyclaeys2008 how is that funny? It's also not what made NWH work. NWH worked because all the villains were characters established and developed in previous films, fan favourites played by incredible actors. NWH is awesome but the whole film is based on nostalgia, and obviously wouldn't have worked without the villains being the ones from other movies. Also, "everything I mentioned"? Where are the miscasts and convoluted characters in NWH? Where is the poor pacing and studio meddling?

I actually quite liked Spider-Man 3 never understood why this movie was hated so much, I mean it's definitely not the best of the trilogy but it's not "terrible" but anyway it was fun seeing your reactions to these movies, I hope you check out the other Spider-Man movies as well, while not as liked The Amazing Spider-Man movies are still worth a watch in my opinion.

It's the best of the trilogy - a total thrill ride. in comparison sm1 is cheesy and sm2 has no memorable scenes. all the memes and memories are from sm3 and it makes for great reactions.

I still don't understand the hate for Spider-Man 3 I thought it was a great movie and I loved Venom's involvement as a matter of fact Venom was the only reason I was looking forward to watching Spider-Man 3 back in 2007 when I was only 8.

Another great reaction! Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man trilogy is the one I grew up with and will always be my favorite Spidey trilogy! I remember around the early 2010 their was suppose to make a fourth Tobey Spider-Man movie, but unfortunately it was announced on the news that the fourth film was cancled. Nevertheless, I think it was a great ending to this Spider-Man trilogy. I am looking forward for your reaction to the ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ movie and at some point, the world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe! Edit: I also want to acknowledge how happy I am that you recognized Stan Lee!

Did they ever mention which villains would have been featured in a 4th movie? I had hoped/assumed it would be The Lizard and/or Man-Wolf, given the introductions to Dr Curt Connors and JJJ's son John the astronaut. I know the latter is a huge and unlikely reach, but why else would they write him in? Why not have MJ fixing to marry Harry or "Flash" Thompson from high school? Anyway, I'm curious which way they were leaning on the villains for a 4th movie.

@@BlackieNuff I remember there was speculation for Lizard, Mysterio, Hydro-Man, Carnage, and Vulture to be the villains for the fourth film. I even remember hearing rumors that Jake Gyllenhaal was suppose to be Hydro-Man, Jim Carrey as Carnage, Bruce Campbell as Mysterio, Dylan Baker as Lizard, and John Malkovich as Vulture. On top of that I heard that Black Cat was suppose to be to be in that movie as well. Anne Hathaway was suppose to portray as Black Cat too. I remember being excited for those characters at the time and hoped that they'll somehow show up. Even if it wasn't all of them I had hoped for one of them to be in the fourth movie. Fun Fact: Not many Sam Raimi Spidey fans know this, but there's a secret cameo in the second Spider-Man movie, Namor!

@@SomethingNowhereMan Ohhhh nice! All those villains with their proposed actors all sound better than what we DID ultimately get in the Garfield Spideys and the Home trilogy. I mean, Woody Harrelson as Canrage was not a bad pick, but Jim Carrey would have been good too. Though he might have hammed it up and that is NOT Carnage. I think Harrelson brought just the right amount of dry humor that was needed (if any). Damn, Malkovich as Vulture would have been epic. Better than Micheal Keaton, imho - sorry "Batman" circa 1989/1992, lol. Namor... is that the Sub-mariner? How did I miss that Spock-eared Aquaman of the Marvel-verse?

@@BlackieNuff Lol, yeah, I agree! I remember back then I kept thinking that Jim Carrey would've scared so much people had he performed as that monster, let alone portraying Cletus Kasady. Although, I think Woody Harrelson did a good job as Carnage. John Malkovich as Vulture would've been superior had it happen all those years ago! Just thinking this stuff makes me want to turn back time and make this happen! Heh I forgot to mention that there was also speculation of Rhino in the fourth film too, but the actor to portray that character remain undecided. No speculation, no rumors, no confirmations either. Mm-hmm! In the novelization of the second Spider-Man film, they hinted the Sub-Mariner! Though the scene from the novelization wasn't shown in film, but the character himself did show up in the movie! I would tell you which scene, but that's for you to find out! ;)

It’s hard to feel bad for Eddie when he brought it on himself. Peter slamming Eddie against that frame was too far, but he was right to expose him. It’s also worth knowing that Eddie was already morally corrupted before he got the symbiote, this is clear when he “prayed” for someone’s death.

Scariest thing about Venom in my opinion is the one thing they carried over from the comics and they don't make it obvious in the movie - he doesnt trigger Peter's Spider-semse! He's one of the only villains that can sneak up on Spidey!

Eh, it has its issues. It's not a terrible film by any means, but I do remember being pretty disappointed coming out of the theater. Especially because of how tacked-on the Venom part feels, and how many unnecessary sideplots there are. The parts that work (Sandman!) still work, though.

Both Harry and Norman died by their own blade. Norman died consumed by anger trying to kill Peter. Harry died after overcoming his anger trying to save Peter.

The studio FORCED Raimi to put in Venom because he was a popular villain. Plus, Raimi really wanted to have sandman on top of the current story of the green goblin. It ended up being too much. But I still think this story is good. The underlining theme of, "the good guys aren't as GOOD as they seem, and the bad guys aren't as BAD as they seem." This movie was all about the grey.

While I've always enjoyed this movie, i see the flaws, especially in how Venom was forced into the script by the Studio. It lead to Harry getting Amnesia for half the movie to put him on the sideline, it's why the symbiote's entrance in the meteor just happens in proximity to Peter, and why Venom isn't as complex as he could be. I do wish we could have gotten Sam Raimi's original vision for Spider-man 3, but I still see the qualities the final product has

Just because an 8/10 is lesser than two 10/10s doesn't mean it's a bad movie. To go through the production issues this went through and still be this good is a testiment to everyone's talent, even if it wasn't 100% what they wanted.

@@TheScottSlater nope i never said that. In a film there are actors, a story and often effects, and a film lasts about 2 hours. A reaction is just how a person reacts to something like a movie or something and when you fake your reaction on purpose you want everyone to think the reaction is real but you are just lying to everyone and that is fake. A film isn't fake because you know what it's supposed to be, and that's what I said at the beginning, so it's not fake. And a movie is always what you think it is. A fake movie would be if you think you are going to watch a movie but its not a movie.

Has always been my least favorite of the Raimi Spider-Man films. But, your reaction did make me remember and appreciate some of the very good aspects of this one. I think Flint’s story was a good parallel to Peter’s here. That should have been more of the focus. That’s my opinion, at least.

High standards to live up to from the previous two, and I think the internet hate train has amplified it over the years. Not a terrible movie by any means, and some of the best scenes of the trilogy (in my personal opinion of course). They did try to shoehorn too many villains in there, but that had a lot to do with the behind the scenes drama going on, where the studios were pressuring Raimi to make sure Venom was in it, when he had no desire to do so.

While not my favorite Spider-Man movie, I consider it a guilty pleasure. Not terrible, but not the best. I still think it's worth re-watching though. Besides. Some of the best Spider-Man memes came from this movie.

10:55 that was Stan Lee the co-originator of Spiderman and in the mailbox section of those 1960s comics Stan would answer questions from kids and finish with 'Nuff said". I know coz I was an early comic collector starting in 1963 when I was 8. He also had cameos in the first two movies AND ALL THE MARVEL FILMS. Watch for him! Oh, and if they need another young actress to play Mary Jane you DEFINITELY should audition!

@@HunterSlayer2727 I knew she was in Jurassic World and a Director for a few episodes in Mandalorian & Book of Boba Fett but never realized she was Gwen Stacy. She did not look recognizable as Gwen with the little amount of screen time. Plus I did not know who Bryce Dallas Howard was back in 2007. I did not not know who she was until she did Jurassic World in 2015.
