It's the end of Phase 3 and the Infinity Saga! This is a movie reaction to my first time watching Spider-Man: Far From Home, released in 2019 and directed by Jon Watts. Peter and MJ have a crush on each other, Jake Gyllenhaal is some guy named Mysterio, and Fury is typical Fury... or is he? And Tony Stark's legacy continues. Make sure to stick around to the end of this video for my full thoughts and review and thank you so much for watching!

Thanks for watching with me today! Please remember to keep the comments spoiler-free about Phase 4 and 5. Like I said in the outro, I'll be starting watchalongs and reviews to the non-Phase Marvel TV shows next month. These will be Patreon Exclusives available at any of my Insiders tiers - essentially the same as I treated most of the Star Wars TV shows after I finished the films and how I've been sharing reactions to House of the Dragon, Breaking Bad, and soon Better Call Saul. In these tiers right now, I am putting up the last of the Breaking Bad episodes this week, The Book of Boba Fett, and Season 3 of The Mandalorian. It's never been a better time to binge! You can watch some of these reactions completely free here: kaiielle.com/free And tune into my Community Tab for updates on specific shows and when I'll be starting them. patreon.com/kaiielle Check my video description for all other links! Cheers ✌

not sure if anyone has said it already, but there's a super super cool easter egg when Peter jumps out of the bus to destroy the drone. when he comes back through the roof after destroying it, everyone else is still looking outside the window for the mountain goats. but if you zoom into the seat in front of where MJ is, you can see her eyes peering at Peter over the seat, so she's the only one who saw him jump out the bus!

I loved the Kaiielle-Tingle noticing a bad guy at the start that I missed! I definitely understand the sour feeling after all the movie's deceptions, but it all adds up in the end (the skrulls DO convincingly replicate people, and tech geniuses DO go crazy lol), so I think it's a good story. The school trip and summer romance moments were perfectly executed, and I think this movie is exactly what it set out to be: a story about kids interrupt by superhero stuff. My favorite character in the MCU is the teacher who almost lost another student. I love the pink nails at the end, very finely painted! 🛡🕷🕸

I know a lot of people have Spidermab FFH low on their Spider-Man movie list but I love this movie. Also I love all the references it has to the avengers. Like when Peter holds the sign and explosive similar to how Steve holds Mjölnir and the shield at 39:25, Happys comment on how Steve Throws the shield, and when Peter makes his suit and Happy just looks at him, reminding him of Tony. Great scene, especially with the music from iron man 1. Worst part about this movie: if you're a comics fan, there's a 0% of getting fooled by Mysterio because he's been a classic Spider-Man villain for decades. Best part about this movie: JK Simmons coming back to reprise his role as J. Jonah Jameson, but this time interpreted as an Alex Jones style unhinged radio show host.

Honestly, after the Mandarin twist and the Skrulls not being villains (well, in Captain Marvel anyway), Mysterio being made into a hero that's actually magic wasn't exactly outside the realm of possibility. Hell, given this was technically a Sony film, I thought they might have been building up Mysterio for his own solo film.

The reason I really liked this movie is because leading up to it before it came out, Jake and Tom were doing press tours and interviews and they had really good energy like friends and it was rumored and set up in the previews leading up to believe that mysterio was going to be on Peter's side against the elementals, so seeing that twist really caught me off guard and I like movies that do that. I guess mysterio is a classic Spiderman villain in the comics so a lot of ppl wernt as surprised as I was. Great reaction tho as always.

My favorite little nod to the old comics was Ned and Betty being a couple in Europe. In one of the first Spider-Man comics, Betty Brandt is introduced as a girl a year or two older than Peter. He was still in high school and she had graduated the year before, and started working as a secretary at the Bugle instead of going to college. Ned Leeds was a reporter at the Bugle and eventually Ned and Betty are married and moved to Europe where Ned became a foreign correspondent. Ned and Betty getting together in Europe is a nice touch for people who recognize it, but just a pleasant side story for those who don't.

I do find it really interesting that Jon Watts the director of the MCU Spider-Man Trilogy has stated that these films are the origin story of the MCU Peter Parker. Which makes this a very interesting and unique origin for a Peter Parker Spider-Man spread across three films and of course Civil War, Infinity War, and Endgame. We never really got an MCU Spider-Man origin story, no Uncle Ben, No Radioactive Spider, No "With Great Power" we kind of just jumped into Spider-Man existing in the background for a few months. So I wonder if people's views on these movies have changed after the directors comment about them only being the start of the MCU Spider-Man. MCU Spider-Man went through so much already even compared to comic 16 year old comic Spider-Man and the past movie Peter Parkers.

Yeah, that exchange between Happy and Peter is my second favorite moment in the MCU of a character being reassured that others viewed them in a way that is exactly what they need to hear to become the best version of themselves. The other is from Thor in Endgame when he calls Mjollnir to him and almost sighs in relief and sadness "I'm still worthy" with a small smile. Not a big fan of Thor usually, but love how Chris delivers that line.

The Talos tag was great and fitting in with the illusion theme of the movie. When I saw this in theaters I thought Fury's acting was odd at first and thought maybe his character was written wrong until that tag. And upon rewatching it more and more I notice Sam Jackson was throwing a little Ben Mendelsohn into the role, a really nice touch. Of course the obvious clue was "don't invoke her name" when Captain Marvel is mentioned. But I love the tags on the Spider-Man films, they continue to be great.

Mysterio info, as requested! ⌛ Quentin Beck, aka Mysterio, is one of Spider-Man's oldest villains, first appearing just under two years after Spider-Man's own debut in the 60's. A former special effects artist and stuntman with delusions of grandeur, he has no superpowers of his own, instead relying on old-school practical effects, chemical engineering, and occasionally cutting-edge technology to construct elaborate illusions that make him _appear_ to have superpowers, which he uses for crime. Although the guy's mostly a pushover without his tech, he was a founding member of the Sinister Six, Spider-Man's most famous villain team-up group. The marketing for this movie pushed "Mysterio is a good guy!" HARD, to the point that even people familiar with the comics started to think maybe they were doing something different with him, or making it an origin story for his turn to villainy. I think it was a really smart and thematic way to market him being in the movie, as regular viewers got a cool twist, and comic nerds got a neat "I knew it!!" moment.

Hey there! Thank you for the lore. I realized while watching this reaction that the character of Mysterio was quite Teched Up for the movie vs. what he had to have been in the comics, which I thought was probably mystic illusion and mind control-based powers. Jake being cast in this movie is kind of funny in hindsight since he was in the running to play Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man before the role went to Tobey Maguire. Others have said it, but similar to knowing who Palpatine ended up being in the prequels, I knew who Mysterio was from the jump and could not wait for full CG versions of his illusions in this movie… and it did not disappoint. Seeing those scenes in theaters was magical.

Great reaction, Kaiielle! Please don't feel bad about not spotting Mysterio as a villain from the start. Speaking as a comics fan, and one who knew Mysterio to be a long-time member of Spidey's rouges' gallery, even I dared to hope that this version of him might be heroic. Alas, as often with this character, it's a mistake to believe everything we see. Speaking of which, the MCU version of Quentin Beck has a very different background from that in the comics, but the 'power set' is much the same. Mysterio relies on illusion and trickery for his schemes, and is routinely foiled by Spider-Man's ingenuity and spider sense. And I agree: The tentative and bashful interactions between Peter and MJ in this movie are simply adorable. I know it's a ways in the future, but it'll be great to watch "Spider-Man: No Way Home" with you. In the meantime, enjoy your continuing journey through the MCU! 🕸

At least for me, how they handled Mysterio was great. If you're a comic fan, you know what to exact with his plans usually involving something fake, with tech and theatrics. Which was shown with the drones, wearing a mocap suit, and having lines to recite. A low point for this movie (again at least for me) is how Mysterio is a villain because of Iron-Man. That's not a major issue, but Vulture felt the same and I was expecting Peter and Beck to have a run in with each. (At least similar to comics). This was mostly because there was a scene in the trailer that showed Spider-Man fighting some group or gang before going on vacation. I thought it would have revealed that Beck was either working there or got jealous of Spider-Man and wanted the same attention. Again similar to the comics. They did bring that want for Beck to become a "hero". Just not in the way I expected.

@@kaiielle the complaint stems from the idea that in the comics, Peter has no connection with Tony until Peter is in his 20s and an established hero. In the MCU, Tony is his mentor and provides his suit. Peter is a genius on the level of Tony in the comics and makes all his own gadgets.

In retrospect and I just recently caught this after watching so many reaction videos, the hint that something was off with Fury was when he showed up in the hotel and said something to the fact it was his first time finally getting to meet Peter Parker. The real Nick Fury and Peter would’ve certainly met at Tony’s private funeral as they were both present during that sad yet iconic scene as the camera panned to each character or cluster of characters.

When Mysterio showed up in that first scene I was like, that looks like Mysterio. But I let that slide because I figured that they wouldn't have Mysterio in this Spider-Man movie because he played such a minor villain outside of his involvement in the Sinister Six. Even when they introduced him as Quentin Beck the name still did not register with me. How many people know the real name of a B, maybe even a C class villain. It wasn't until he took the name of Mysterio that I knew he was the villain. It was still a great ride showing how Quentin Beck was constantly fooling Spider-Man until Peter finally decided to trust his instincts. 🕷🕸⏳

@Klaital1 10 месяцев назад
Biggest difference in this Mysterio and the comics one was his origins, as the comics one is a failed movie special effects guy, who then decided to use his skills to first fool everyone being a super hero (like in the movie) and then become a criminal after he was exposed by spider-man. And in the comics as well the original Mysterio dies fairly early on (although the comics one died in prison) and then someone else took over the mantle.

I didn’t wanna spoil this when you watched Captain Marvel but interesting fact is how Fury can only eat diagonal sandwiches, but in Averagers: Age of Ultron Fury is seen eating a sandwich cut vertically. Maybe a suggestion that Fury in the films we’ve seen isn’t who he appears to be as we saw at the end here.

Look, how else is Nick Fury going to go on vacation? And he is friends with them, after all. The scientist from the original Iron Man is played by Peter Billingsley. Billingsley was a child actor in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and he is most famous for playing the lead role in Bob Clark's A Christmas Story (1983), which many people consider a timeless classic. Although he worked fairly frequently through the rest of the '80s, his roles became far more sporadic in the '90s, with him switching into a behind-the-scenes role around the early 2000s, when he became friends with Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn. Favreau cast him in a cameo role in Elf as one of the other workers at the North Pole, and then Billingsley produced Zathura, Favreau's film right before he directed Iron Man (which Billingsley also produced), as well as the Vince Vaughn movies The Break-Up (co-starring Favreau, and directed by future Ant-Man director Peyton Reed) and Four Christmases. Billingsley then even went onto direct Vaughn in Couples Retreat and Term Life (featuring another future MCU star who you haven't gotten to yet). Last year, Billingsley also produced and starred in a sequel to A Christmas Story for HBO Max, A Christmas Story Christmas. It's gonna be a long wait until you can get to the next Spider-Man movie, but I can't wait (not to mention I enjoy at least a couple of the Spider-Man movies that will probably come before that one).🌐

16:51 I went to Prague back in May 2017. It was supposed to be a 2 week tour through 5 countries in Central Europe. But on only the second night in Prague, I suffered a massive kidney stone attack (11 mm!), and thought I could power through it with lots of water and pain meds. I'm a hiker and in reasonably good shape, but after 8 hours, I couldn't walk anymore; it was like getting stabbed from the inside out. I managed to hobble back over the Charles Bridge (where they filmed the reveal scene with Peter and MJ), before needing help standing and getting into/exiting a taxi. I had to abandon my trip and get emergency surgery. I ended up stranded in a creepy old Czech hospital that looked and felt more like something out of a WWII hospital, or perhaps an old Soviet prison converted into a hospital. Everything was old, there were bars on the windows, chipped paint, the lights in the bathroom didn't work, no cell service, the bed was a simple cot and pillow, and the only amenities were a bagel and some goat milk. The tour group left me behind, and I had to spend the next couple of days scrambling with the insurance people to find a new place to stay and a flight home. It was one of the worst experiences of my life, but at least I got to see Prague for a couple of days. I'll have to go back and finish the trip someday. 25:53 Also, I know firsthand that the Charles Bridge is nowhere near deserted like that on a summer night. If they wanted to make the scene realistic, the entire bridge would be overflowing with tourists. Anyways, congrats on making it through Phase 3! Let's just say things are about to get... _interesting._

Yes!!The next MCU movie i love this one bearing in mind it had to follow Endgame its an awesome movie and totally makes sense being the end of phase 3. It hits us right in the feels immediatley with feelings of loss of Tony Nat and Cap connecting with Peter about missing Tony this film gets me every time we have the amazing villain Mysterio played perfectly by Jake Gyllenhall but balances the feels with some great comedy too!And my favourite scene in the movie is the whole scene with Peter and Happy on the jet and the end of that scene when we see the reflection of Tony in Peter.Amazing reaction as always!😊

I believe I liked this movie more than you did, but that's OK. I'm glad you've decided to watch at least some of the Marvel series. Originally Loki I believe was supposed to be aired first but there was some scheduling issues, maybe post production issues, so WandaVision ended up first out of the starting gate. There aren't any spoilers either way so in the end it doesn't really affect the viewer enjoyment of the journey.

⌛🕸🕶👓 Just picked a few. That web looks like a snowflake. Ah, well. Thank you for the watch. Spiderman has always been my favorite comic book character, back from when I was a kid in the early 70's. I didn't buy a whole lot of comix, as they were a little more pricey than I could afford. But, I have a few Spidermans and some Silver Surfers. I don't know anything about any of the new characters, or plot lines or anything. I'm strictly an MCU guy. Fear not, I won't spoil anything upcoming. I will enjoy your enjoyment as you enjoy them. As for this movie... I guess I'm in about the same mindset as you. It's okay. I liked the first one better. But, this wasn't bad. The kids did a great job. The story... eh... it's a comic book movie. Jake always does well. (Completely not-connected: Have you seen Source Code? I thoroughly enjoyed that. That said, October Sky is still my favorite movie of his. But, then I've always been a space enthusiast.) I don't have anything else. Thank you, again, for the watch. I'll look forward to the next one!

'twas a little disappointing already being familiar with Mysterio before watching this film, but at least I get to enjoy watching people like yourself at the moment of revelation. 51:40 Honestly, four months is priority service when it comes to fixing potholes here. They must be talking about a really important thoroughfare. I've lived in my current house for twelve years and the road my street branches off has looked like the lunar surface for pretty much all that time - they finally resurfaced it a few weeks ago. ^_~ 🕸🔮 (There was indeed no snowglobe, but the crystal ball works well for Mysterio's helmet meseems)

This was one of the few MCU movies that I think having a solid knowledge of Marvel Comics hurt my enjoyment of the film, because I knew the "twist" going into the movie. Still enjoyed the movie of course, but probably would have enjoyed it more without knowing that Mysterio was a villain. (In the comics, he was a Hollywood special effects artist.) 🕸

Sony movies doesn't really count in the MCU,they literally has no impact at all, that's why something is happening and then it just doesn't happen. For example: Tony takes the suit from Peter... but then he recovered it. Tony offered him a new one... but he rejected it until the next movie. In this one, spiderman got drones... then he destroyed them all. And I'm not spoiling the third one... But the point is that everything solves on it's own,so is not really adding anything for future projects. So yeah, end game was the actual end for phase three, and now phase 4 starts again like phase 1,introducing characters and contexts that are separated from each other, building for when the stories start to connect. (Which is potentially happening in the next few months with the projects that hasn't came out yet)

Too bad this one wasn't close to the top for you because for me it definetly is. I love asymetrical hero/villain match ups and this is the best one in the MCU in my opinion. In fact, Spiderman is second to Hulk as the strongest human on Earth at this point, but in his first 2 movies he battles, and is put through the ringer by, regular dudes. Normally heroes have to outwit much stronger enemies, but all Spiderman's villains have to outwit their much stronger hero. Love 'em.
