14:45 Don’t you just love it when you literally end up hooking their mouths shut 😂 bro 😎 like seriously only happens to real fisherman like us 👍🤣 happens to me at least a few times every year . With all the people I fish with and videos I watch on RU-vid really cracks me up that you’re literally the only other person I’ve seen do that.

Super appreciate the Compliments!!! Glad you’re enjoying my friend!!👌🤙☺️😁 Yeah it’s honestly a very small percentage of anglers that put in the necessary time & effort that’s required to find these bigger smarter fish….. I compare them to the big bucks in the woods…… not everyone gets one! 👌😏😉😁😎

@@chasingthewildwithdustyrho2620Absolutely. People don't put the time in either. I'm like you. People call me crazy when they see my Jeep parked by a river rain/shine/snow. It's my church. If you're ever out in SW pa give me a shout. I'd love to take you around and enjoy earths beauty and some good fellowship. Also could you send me a link to where you get your streamers? Having hard time finding anything bigger than a wooley bugger in my area

Happy belated! Good to see the return of the Cherrywood! I thought you retired it. Some prime water there for sure! What a difference in temps, I fished the day after Xmas here in eastern PA and it was nice, mid 30's, no ice.

If that first stream is the one I think it is, fish move into there in the winter months and move out to the bigger water the rest of the year. That area with the two trees across the water looks exactly like where I put in on a local wild brown stream. Might be different water, hard to tell.

@@JP-dz7zu might be the same stream, but this stream also holds big resident Wild Browns….. I have caught several different ones in there year after year….. one big male in particular I’ve caught 4 years in a row now! 👌😁

@@chasingthewildwithdustyrho2620awesome, man. Good stuff. If it’s the same place, I got skunked there in the spring last year pretty hard, water was low and I got tired of crawling around logs across the stream.

Always love watching your videos. Here in Scotland we’re lucky to get brown trout 8 inch long in streams like that. How do they get so big and a lot in small streams? Surprised they don’t get picked off by predators at a young age.

I truly appreciate your follow & glad you are enjoying!!! It seems here in Pennsylvania there are a large number of smaller streams that people just believe hold fish such as the ones I catch….. well this is where I come in!! Lol. 👌😁🙌 Many of these waters also hold a great food source, whether it be a large abundance of crayfish or smaller baitfish……. & lastly is depth & cover in these smaller streams….. I think most people are intimidated by getting snagged & losing their lure so they don’t give the proper presentation to provoke these big small stream giants from their cover to eat their offering! Also……. This is where I come in! Haha👌😁😉😎 Depth & cover also fends off most natural predators! 🦅🦝👌🤙

Great video and big props dealing with those conditions 💯👍 I can tell that temperature is right on the border of your better off staying home your wallet, fishing pole, and gear will thank you 🙏 If you’re from an area with cold winter climate and you’re a real fisherman you know the struggle he dealt with fishing when it’s 26 degrees or colder out. Literally it becomes impossible to cast and fish once the temperature gets down to certain point. The way his line was freezing up in beginning of this video I can guarantee you he was right on the border of that temperature. From my experience 26 and below and cloudy is that point. True diehard fishermen know what I’m talking about and I can explain for the rest . Just like with ice storms the way ice accretes is way different from around freezing point compared to 27 and below. At 27 and below it accretes so fast and sturdy between cast, after a few casts your line in the bail totally locks up ! You will go to cast and no line comes out or it will just barely break ice enough line loosens in random spots in spool which makes a big horrible knot! Or finally your line will cut and lure with line attached to point it cut on spool goes flying and good luck getting it back . As you can tell nothing good will come of it 😂 Most people dealt with the temps right around freezing and that even becomes annoying, eye at tip accumulating a little ice, some ice on line, and even in spool longer you’re fishing but it’s a whole different world when you’re spin fishing temps well below freezing. Becomes impossible to spin fish around 27 degrees and below I learned myself that’s my cut off temp. I don’t mind fishing in the cold or any weather but literally have to be able to fish to fish lol 😂 if I can’t cast and reel properly then it’s not fishing and not what a lot of us fish for besides catching fish lol ! We all have enough issues I tend not to add them on when I don’t have to do that haha 😂 so anyone out there that haven’t experienced spin fishing in temps under 27 degrees I hope you take my advice and avoid the frustration you will bring upon yourself 👍😎
@boxingstarcmbballer8797
@boxingstarcmbballer8797 3 месяца назад
It was your Birthday 🎉 😂 I see why you braved it and dealt with the frustration , luckily it’s easier to do small streams dealing with the freezing up spool as well . Don’t have to cast so much line out bringing so much more water in to freeze spool !👍

Kudos to great fishing and content! Interested in how you research to find these streams? I’m from Western PA and I believe you’re not in our area, do you speak with/Fish Commission or research stream classifications that reveal potential opportunities. Appreciate any insight Thanks

Thank you kindly for the compliments! 👌🤙😁 I mainly just fish the streams that I’ve learned to be good ones throughout the years & do a fair amount of exploration across the state….. I’ve found big fish water in every region in the state….. granted some streams are better than others for producing numbers of big fish but there are way more big fish across the state than people realize! Put your time in to promising watersheds & you will turn up big fish is about my best advice! 👌

What line are you running typically? Must be some good stuff. Looks like you put it through its paces. I run 6lb flourocarbon typically for trout, but occasionally I will have a big brown break me off on it unfortunately.

I run 8 lb Stren mono…… I switched to that years ago for that same exact reason, too many big fish breaking me off!! I actually still have the occasional one break me off, but far fewer than before! 🤙

Gorgeous fish, as usual haha. Would you happen to know the dimensions of the rim of your net? Last week in the yellow breeches I lost a rainbow that had to be pushing 24-25". Kept falling out of my net everytime I tried. Still absolutely heartbroken since my pb is only 17.5". Hundreds of trout to see a fish of that caliber and I blew it. I'd like to get a net with a bigger basket. Can't afford a fishpond one, but if you know the dimensions of yours and wouldn't mind sharing, maybe I can find something similar online.
@chasingthewildwithdustyrho2620
@chasingthewildwithdustyrho2620 4 месяца назад
Frabill makes a net with a super large basket….. deep & very large opening…. Yet still lightweight! Mine is a Fishpond Nomad & the opening is 19” at the longest point, I’ve netted some 26-27” fish in it…… you’ve got to net them perfectly but they will fit…… you could easily net 30+ in that Frabill though! 👌🤙

just curious, I know you fish all year round, but what months and temperatures do you find best for large wild trout. personally I have always had the most luck with wilds in the warmer months like spring and summer, and have had some luck stocked fish in the fall and sometimes the spring. don't fish much in the winter when its snowing as i am snow plowing for some extra money. thanks, tight lines - Kilian
@chasingthewildwithdustyrho2620
@chasingthewildwithdustyrho2620 4 месяца назад
Any time in the winter can be good….. I prefer fishing when the streams are free of ice, but have even done well when they are half iced! The problem with ice is though, the streams are obviously partially obstructed of visibility & you don’t have a full picture of the depth, structure & other things that make it easier to fish! Mild winters are the bread & butter of winter fishing though…… if things completely froze up, I’m done until they unthaw! 🤙 You can have some of your best fishing of the year in any winter months though! In 2020 I caught 30 Brown Trout in the 20” or + range in the month of January….. for just a for instance! My best month for big fish ever! 🤷‍♂️

@@chasingthewildwithdustyrho2620 thank you brother really appreciate it. The flows have been really high by me because of constant rain and snow melt. Have you ever found fishing to be good in high to crazy high flows or is it better to just wait until flows settle back down. I’ll be sure to send you some pictures of fish this year when I get on some 🎣

In a number of my videos I only put the big ones on the footage!👌 Otherwise my videos would be an hour + long & nobody’s got time for that lol……. The very large majority of my fishing is done in streams that anyone could fish, non-posted property! Other than that, there Are big fish in most streams…… most people don’t catch them or video catching them I guess! 🤷‍♂️
