Summer has arrived in Michigan! And, what a better way to spend a nice summer day than fishing for Trout in small creeks that populate the northern part of the state.
When summer time trout fishing in Michigan, I like to keep my gear light. In this episode, I am using a 5'6' ultra-light rod and 4lb test in an attempt to not spook the fish in the gin clear water.
Before leaving the house, looking at the weather forecast, I almost took fly fishing gear, but I grew up spinner fishing for trout in the summer time. So, in the end, that's what I decided to do and I am happy I did. While there wasn't anything big to hand, I caught a lot of Brookies. Not to mention, I felt like a kid again which is always a great feeling.
When the big streams and lakes are busy, spinner fishing for trout in small creeks is a great summer activity. You will find less people. Less pressure. You will need to have patience though because casting isn't always easy, but for trout in the summer is worth hassle.
Thank you for watching!
