I own an LV-119, I think overall this was a pretty good review, especially when it comes to the cumberband! Things have come back in stock more recently and a lot more aftermarket stuff exists now, so it's certainly easier to get the components now. Super comfortable carrier and love the modularity, but damn, it sure isn't cheap. Would definitely buy again if I had to, but you are right when you say that the fatal flaw of modularity is having to pay extra for every little component.
Concur, the out of stock mess may have just been temporary as it seems like they fixed it now. But man... It made the whole process so impossible. And I think that's where a lot of the popularity came from... In that only the rare few could actually put it together. Thanks for sharing! -Walsh
@@ThinLineDefenseCo 2 years later and I mismatched a plate carrier and didn't know/wasn't told about all the other bs accessories required... also didn't realize their initials were SS until I watched this video so there's that....
Upvoted for 1000% honesty. Fully agree I’m annoyed by spiritus but they are the highest quality material/construction. Terrible execution/predatory system.
It seems to have gotten better but the customer experience is still bad. I couldn't even recommend the carrier to our own team. we had to snipe gear and watch emails for months just to get the stuff you saw. Absolutely ridiculous. This carrier has a niche mission it works well for .. but not anything that 99% of the consumers will do thanks for watching! -Walsh
I bought one as well and can agree. For someone like me whose ex-Army and is used to the IBA and IOTV I thought this carrier would be a nice change for my civillian life. I'm fairly thin and always hated the bulky vests because I could never get a good cheekweld. That being said having never used a minimalist carrier before and taking the advice of others with more experience with these products I purchased a basic setup and found I needed to purchase more to figure out what I liked and didn't. At this point i have a several pieces i may never use and personally found the vest to be very uncomfortable. While pads would probably help I shouldn't have to sink more money into this thing for a basic level of comfort. At this point I've shlved the thing for very specific circumstances and chosen a first spear vest instead. Having tried one it handily beats the lv119 in comfort and since I'm too busted to be all high speed I'll run side armor as well. If I need the damn thing I'll mostly be static anyway or moving through urban terrain and the first spear rig works better for me.
I'm with you...I don't understand the minimalistic idea. It seems like something you'd want when you're in line for starbucks. I did find I could get a good check weld though. I'm just too old and broken for the lower weight to make me any faster. I'm still slow. Give me a bigger carrier...I'll move the same speed lol Thanks for adding your input and good to hear from a brother in the service! -Walsh
It’s probably uncomfortable because you’re trying to make it something it isn’t. It’s a minimalist carrier meant to use light plates and light load. I never hear from most people that it’s uncomfortable. Let alone very uncomfortable
Personal story with the LV119. I got the covert for work a while back and I’m very happy with it. It does exactly what I need it to do. It stays hidden and if I need it, it can evolve quickly to be a great platform to fight from. Now saying that, it was a super disappointing costumer experience. I ordered the front and rear bags and cummerbund and was super excited to get it in, I put it together and realized…it doesn’t come with shoulder pads…I genuinely thought spiritus forgot to send them. I called customer service the lady was super nice and informed me they are sold separately. So I had to wait 3 weeks for the shoulder pads to come in. Absolutely blew me away. But anyway LV119 for sneaky but fierce, HRT RAC as a daily fighter, and my warrior assault systems LPC as my long range comfort set up. I can’t complain.
It’s interesting because yesterday I tried buying the same plate carrier and figured out how difficult and complex is to setup your gear: stock missing all the time (Europe), molle missing, placard, etc. Buying all the pieces separately for me just doesn’t make sense, also the design is not nice. Tried to put all the pieces together, including the back bags and the cost went up more than $ 500. Amazing!!! I am running Agilite K19 with is extremely comfortable and potentially buying the JPC 2.0 or even the Airlite Chest Rig. Thanks for reviewing this plate care which is in line to my decision to not buy it.
I'm gunna be honest I do love my 119 and I definitely understand the cons, but if you have the funds and patience I would recommend it (note there is a lot of 3rd party support that make misc. components for whatever you need, just not always made by spiritus).
I do agree with you. If you got the money and don't mind the shenanigans... It's a fairly good carrier. The customer experience is just so bad with having to watch Instagram and all the other nonsense that I couldn't possibly recommend that to anyone. And no one likes to talk about it but for a civilian, it's perfectly fine. For military duty use? It's missing required items that would authorize it's use.... Like shoulder QDs. -Walsh
@@ThinLineDefenseCo or a Velcro tube cummerbund, that’s a no brainer to me. (The Velcro skeletal cummerbund, with tubes where the Velcro meets the Molle).
@@bblue651 concur. The current design has piss poor adjustment of the tubes it does have. It should be on Velcro like you said so it can be adjusted and then connected
I have the Ferro and the Spiritus… it’s a really close call on which is better, but I would take the Ferro over the spiritus. Comfort and design is mainly why. I do think the spiritus MK4 micro chest rig is the best on the market though. I have one on my spiritus and my Ferro carrier.
You forgot to mention that they charge $15 for shipping. I have the placard, dangler, shoulder straps, 5.56 and pistol inserts, zipper pocket, and half flap. I forgot to order the back strap because I was rushing and thought they would run out of the stuff I had in the cart. I waited over a month for all the stars to align just to get what I got.
Yea... You gotta order each damn piece separate and pay shipping for each damn thing. I was in the same boat. Finding one or two pieces each week. Maddening... It seems like their supply is better now so the customer experience may not be so bad. Thanks for watching and sharing! -Walsh
I was looking at those too. The spiritus one was actually cheaper. It's just a bit goofy you gotta pay 70-90 dollars to have a functional rear panel. At least Spiritus Sells one now. I'd be willing to bet it was due to other companies like this filling basic carrier needs. Thanks for adding some great suggestions! -Walsh
I have a lv119... i kept mine more minimalistic. Elastic velcro cummerbund, mk4 placard with inserts, over front, covert rear. Its a great setup that cost me around $400. I have Hesco 3810 medium sapis in it. It feels wonderful, the comfort is amazing. However, I agree with this video. The piecing together the plate carrier is a pain in the butt. And for the price... well... its a little disappointing.
I agree with 95% of this review. I never could understand why this thing is/was so popular. I keep buying the latest and greatest and keep going back to my LBT 6094 with Tubes cummerbund. Going to try the Shaw Concepts ARC next.
This is such a great channel - Best reviews on the internet hand down on all the gear I love, including Ops Core and more. I actually own a fully kitted LV119 setup. But you caught my interest with the Agilite K-Zero. So I ordered one and will try it out this weekend.
I tried both the Agilite K Zero (warfighters cummerbunds) and Spiritus Systems LV119 today and these are my impressions: 1. Construction and fit The Agilite is surprisingly stable, rides very well and adjusts seamlessly on the thorax and on the back. The shoulder attachment system seems to help perfectly accomplish this task. The cummerbunds (warfighter model) secure very nicely and ride high up the rib cage thus providing ample space to clear mag pouches and other accessories that may be rising from the battle belt. The pads also provide some good comfort. The LV119 on the other end seems to be more tricky to adjust for a perfect height, especially on the back, where it rides a bit low in my opinion (for a reference, I am 6.1, 185lbs with wide chest and shoulders and I wear a Medium). The construction is also generally softer and the carrier can feel a little bit "flimsy" when not worn which is due to the lightweight minimalist construction. On the other end, once you put the Spiritus System on, it feels solid. The slim and lightweight construction simply makes you forget that you have it on and weight management is surprisingly well managed for such a lightweight carrier. The lack of padding does not cause issues of plates digging in the collar bone. The slim profile also helps achieve a lower prone position. While the cummerbunds ride slightly lower than the Agilite, they espouse the shape of your body in a more natural fashion than the rigid Agilite cummerbunds. This provides a rounder curve and the consequences is easier access to the pouches and various accessories you might be carrying. So while the Agilite cummerbunds provide a more secure fit, I find the Spiritus to be more usable when on the field. 2. Shoulders While the construction of the Agilite provides an amazing fit, the slim profile of the Spiritus' shoulder pads help achieve a faster and more secure shouldering of the weapon. I feel like this is a crucial element, especially in an assault scenario. This issue might be alleviated by using a slimer stock but I have not tried yet. 3. Running and jumping Both perform well with a slight edge for stability to the K Zero. I feel like I was able to move a little bit better mainly because of the better body fit. 4. Breathability The Spiritus, having no padding clearly provides better breathability. 5. Modularity Both score equally as well here. 6. Cable Management While the spiritus routing system helps achieve a cleaner look. I actually like the many options Agilite provides, especially when routing things like an external antenna to the backpanel. 7. Price No argument here. Spiritus is expansive, nickels and dimes you and their pricing model is difficult to swallow (selling shoulder pads and mag retainers separately and charing for shipping knowing you will have to make several purchases since not everything is stocked at all time). Agilite provide a competitive price and less hassle. 8. Conclusion No clear winner. Both have their pros and cons. For a strictly assault scenario where moving fast and light and a lot of shooting is required, I would go with the Spiritus because of the faster shouldering and the slim profile that is barely noticeable. For an all around low profile carrier, I feel like the Agilite might be a better choice. 9. Special mention I am dual israeli-american. The majority of my family has served in combat units in the IDF for the past 60 years up until this very day. I have every personal incentive to support Agilite which is a great Israeli company but I have to be fair. In my opinion, the Agilite doe not surpass the Spiritus. They are two different carriers with different purposes, the Spiritus being more a more specialized carrier for active assault scenarios and the Agilite being better as an all rounder.
Appreciate it. As this carrier is quite popular, I'm sure honest feedback will ruffle some feathers. Some people may really love the things that bothered me *shrug* -Walsh
@@ThinLineDefenseCo I almost bought it about 9months ago, but it was out of stock, surprise. Ill be watching that Agilite review for sure, and Id be interested in a review the Defense Mechanisms MEPC
@@wb7634 I personally own the defense mechanisms PC and several of its modular options and I can say I am not disappointed in the slightest, gear is affordable and honestly pretty easy to use, I'd definitely recommend checking it out, I will add that it is not ideal for longer range ops, I would go with the agilite if you need something that will accommodate you on long range.
All the items for the plate carrier are currently in stock in MC. As well most other companies are out of stock so kinda a poor example If you got Crye for example. They have weekly restocked as well You are also choosing a bit of everything nothing wrong with that but a basic carrier with a single cummerbund and trifold front overt and rear covert is 235 before taxes and shipping.
And an agilite k19 is 15 dollars less than the most basic build and fully functional... The drip model marketing tactic is poor and punishes the customer. I own it just like you do and we both formulated our own opinions and having different opinions is extremely healthy. I just find a lot of carriers do a lot more for a lot less. good chat though! -Walsh
@@ThinLineDefenseCo Thanks agreed about talking, but I do just find some the points you made to be off point and just using them to get attention. When you look at a Crye and Ferro for the same items it all comes out to the same price point about. Currently the K19 is sold out as well.
@@GhostMaker00 well haha yeah, a bit of this is theatrics and having fun. It's certainly not the end of the world. It's a functional carrier Well... Maybe not the over the beach one. That'll get you killed of you use that in water lol
@@GhostMaker00 there is no way to remove the carrier. It has no shoulder QD. If you had that in water and removed the side straps, you'd still have to lift it over your head to keep from drowning. All the models would be pretty scary for vehicle duty use. You could get trapped easily with no way to get out of your carrier besides cutting it off.
Seems to me its better off getting a first spear set up. Although they have things that are proprietary with their attachments and stuff but if you have stuff thats molle compatible it will work on the firet spear carrier. Woth that said they arent cheap at all lol, from what I've heard they are a solid piece of kit. For the carrier alone the strandhogg v2 comes in at 600 bucks and their v3 is 40 dollars more give or take. It does come with everything all preset for you when yoy buy the carrier, has the cummerbund, the rear and front plate bags, all yoy have to do is pick the color you want and size thats all you have to do. The only thing i have from first spear is their two poijt padded sling and their old style tripple magazine pouch. Thats all i have from them, i do however love the sling its like the feeling of putting a pillow underneath a heavy pack. I dont know why a lit of compaines dont make two point slings with padding. Only ones that comes to mind that does so is t rex arms, first spear, and flatline fiber
I'd get Shaw or Javlin concepts long before any of those choices. The Shaw has some of the best padding in the business where the Javlin has the most slimline comfort. Both these carriers also aren't 3-5 years old too. -Walsh
@@ThinLineDefenseCo I will take a closer look at those two. Trying to find a replacement for my crye airlite SPC, it's a good carrier but what didn't like about it is that the adjustment for the shoulders isn't great, and the amount of velcro used on it my god man, just very loud noise. The first spear carriers has been on my bucket list for a very long time just never pulled the trigger on it cause of the price. Will definitely take a look at those two carriers
Yup I know the feeling when I first started piecing it together my lv119 for my black and multicam now I’m starting again in the ferros concepts fcpc v5
@@ThinLineDefenseCo so far I like FCPC v5 more then the lv119 it has a wider shoulder strap set up and they articulate from the plate bags, cobra buckle quick release and or o-ring bracket they lay flat and don’t impede you when shouldering your rifle. the elastic cummerbund are not great for the more padded guy but there assault cummerbund is gold. Easy set up with a flap in the back to change the cummerbund with any that use the Velcro attachment system like velocity systems, defense mechanism, etc… the back is laser cut. I throughly have enjoyed it I gave my lv119 to my sister that’s in the Army
@@ThinLineDefenseCo of course! Love the channel and love to support in any way I can. I’ve definitely been looking into the k19. Seems like the best bang for my buck. Looks really good as well.
I understand where the con’s come from, but at least for me they aren’t as big of an issue. Yeah the zip panels are proprietary but so are crye, ferro, velocity, and Eagle. I know you didn’t show it, but besides the price the assault panel is pretty sweet. I’m not a huge fan of no MOLLE on the rear bag but it’s really a moot for me cuz I like the assault panel or a detached pack. I don’t mind ordering it all separately cuz I like mixing camo patterns, but yeah it can be annoying if you don’t like that. Right now over the beach and and maritime isn’t a huge issue for me so I’m not bummed about not having qds but if you like them I good on you I think the spiritus and the JPC/SPC are the kings of the scalable size carriers, small enough not to get in the way of any of kit you need, but you can still load them down if you need to go longer Sorry for the long message, enjoy y’all’s day
Great points you earn a subscriber here. Had an Lv 119 overt for about 2 months sold it at market up prices. Got my self a slickster with the molle back and a FCPCv5 from Ferro Concepts and wow at least for me it was a great difference in comfort.
Interesting! I really did like the lv119 for the comfort. I did hear a lot of good things about the FCPC v5 and I'll have to snag one eventually. Thanks for adding your input and some suggestions to try next! -Walsh
Walsh - good review of the spiritus. Totally agree on difficulty level of the cummerbund. T&E’d this for 90 days for our company. Love the minimalist design but hated the cummerbund junk. Also didn’t like the elastic cummerbund - chafes via the top tabs when running (literally physically running, not the tacti-cool meaning used by air soft nerds). Am testing the Ferro Concepts FCPC this next 3 mos. One note, they lean more into selling to units/agencies. If we called and asked for X in multicam, they’d make it. Selling to individuals apparently means whatever is available.
Absolutely concur on the elastic tabs when not in use. I noticed those jabbing me but I did have a magazine inserted and just got used to the magazine poking me. Curious on your thoughts on the FCPC. Had a lot of requests for that one too!
Dad, are you running a channel or just testing for work? Kick me over your stuff on Thinlinedefenseco@gmail.com so I can follow you too if you do reviews.
Yeah I looked at Spiritus online for about two minutes and was so confused about what i needed to get and all the add ons and extra cost. I just got the k19 $279 shipped.
Theirs pricing is comparable to ferro both being 800 plus. A crye would be less, around 620 for setup like yours but without a placard because they don’t have any on their site right now.
I dunno. The crye spc setup I'm building now was a whole lot less than that. And it includes an eagle ergo. I'd also be hard pressed to say they're the same price when one is 25% more than the other. Crye will take you FOREVER to get though. I think I waited 6 months. I'll have to try the ferro eventually! -Walsh
@@calebmassey9991 sounds funny but buying from crye direct took me 6 months. I ordered from a dealer and saved 10% and got it in 3 days. So... Don't order from crye.
ok I was considering buying this PC but I'm going to stick with Crye... thx for the honest review seemed like you had a really good time buying this lego set...
They have improved a lot for the shipping and ordering side of things. But this carrier hasn't seen any updates in years now and has really been left behind. -Walsh
The size of the carrier is based off the size of the plates. I run 10x12 plates but you may want 11x14 based on your chest size...the 11x14 will require a larger plate bag. There are a bunch of videos on how to determine your plate size and from there you can determine which size bag will fit those plates. That help? -Walsh
@@ervinm4641 it's odd because it says the 10x12 fits the medium... But I have a large and fits perfectly. I'd get the large to be honest but it wouldn't hurt to ask spiritus on their customer support. They're pretty responsive and won't lead you astray. -Walsh
That's actually pretty smart! Then you don't have the bungee cummerbund attachment and you could do a full MOLLE back. I heard of folks doing a crye rear bag too.
why are there complaints about a company doing the SAME thing the crye AVS does smh that pc gets a ton of credit though. y’all gotta understand these are niche products not cookie cutter or line infantry/standard issue products.
Why do you only comment on spiritus systems gear? I dog a lot of gear but spiritus guys seem very concerned about what I have to say about their products only. And if they're niche products, mass producing them to civilians shouldn't make you be a snowflake if one nobody is confused. ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ -Walsh
This is like a Cinema Sins analysis on the LV119 and I couldn’t turn away. I agree with your analysis on it after wearing one for a few hours, it’s just not for me at the price point. $350 for a PC with Tubes that doesn’t hold any magazines? I get the MOLLE cummerbund is “structural”, but I didn’t enjoy the feel. Keep on putting together great videos. I’m staying tuned for the carrier shootout.
Haha sounds like I need to check out cinema sins. I gotta do a few more carrier reviews and then I'll do one big shootout video talking about all of them So many carriers though lol
their stock issues have definitely improved and the issues I noted are now certainly dated. but their popularity arose due to scarcity... not functionality. now that it's not rare...it's another carrier. -Walsh
Total honesty, that’s why I love you reviews, and this is a great review with brutal honesty. From what I see here, this so called “modular system” is just another way for them to make you spend as much $$$ as possible, I’m not down with that, that’s uncool, I will give this carrier a very wide birth. On a side note....THERES MY PURPLE LIGHT!!!
Haha I rocked the light the whole review. I like to think that made the carrier better haha it's VERY manly. And yea... For modular... It's very confusing. And why I added the price total. You can quickly get gobbled up and be 400 dollars into a carrier and not even realize it. Thanks for all the badass support as always. Keep an eye out for the flashlight lol -Walsh
it's pretty nice but if you had some good adhesive... you'd probably be just as well with that. I'll show it off and I like it. it's a pretty basic concept. I'm honestly surprised it hasn't been copied by 100 other guys.
Sure but no one wants that unless you're like... The 249 guy. Otherwise you absolutely don't want that. We see a LOT of carriers. Having 5-8 carriers fully setup for testing... I don't pick the 119 for anything. And it's the most expensive. Your milage may vary but I'm pretty...Meh on it. Comfort is good but no duty use and it doesn't interface well with anything else. When you have the option to setup anything on all the other carriers... Or that one setup on the lv119, you aren't really seeing the glow of it anymore
@@ThinLineDefenseCo The AVS in its single band cummerbund configuration is amazing even with a lighter load I would chose the AVS over anything if you're spending any where over 4 hours in the carrier. AVS > all carriers I mean most carriers out there are basically some version of the lv119 in the world of slick carriers, AC one, slickster, Perroz designs. I don't know how you define duty use or not but I have used the lv119 in multi day force on force training and its held up well spending 8+ hours a day in the PC. I'm not sure how you define duty use. It would be nice if you defined that for your reviews so that at least we can understand the criteria you use for what's suitable for duty for you. and other than crye products it basically interfaces with most things my current lv119 setup I use a vxvconcepts grid to interface a ferro cummerbund ac3 with cobra buckles BFG pouches on them, Chroma tactical Clutch pouches on the inside of the cummerbund, a unobtanium gear placard, qore shoulder pads, the spiritus molle back with a crye 11x16x9, 2 first spear banger pouches, and the spiritus small GP. aka frankenstein's monster Like I see you using the thing 1 and the plate carrier while like I guess you could technically do that I always thought of the thing 1 and 2 as expansions for the micro fight into a larger chest rig system not as an additional part of the PC In the end most of the PCs outside the AVS that are available can get on the market are basically some version of a slick carrier. Last thing I really just advocate for people to get something they can afford isn't by a shitty company and does what they need it to do. If spiritus isn't your thing no big deal just find the one that works for you. lv119 is great for me and the way I have it setup.
like I get a lot of the things you're like trying to push as issues, but like the tegris molle back is legit better than sown on or laser cut back panel like ferro does.
I don’t know exactly but I’m pretty sure other kinds of cummerbunds will work at least the one that I run on my plate carrier looking at it I’m pretty sure it would work I’m 90% sure they tried to make their system proprietary but they failed Which is hilarious and it’s own right
You never really need a back panel system anyways cause it’s already clean system to carry an assault pack/bug out bag. And you can use the Ferro concepts cummerbund with this system.
Glad I saw this vid before I bought this, love spiritus systems but it’s true everything is always out of stock and man do you really pay a premium for it
in terms of people trying to find stuff there is a great facebook group called The Spiritus Symptoms lots of people offload shit there if you're looking for specific parts or colors that are currently sold out.
Ok so... The spiritus website says you only need a medium. But I don't get how the 10x12 fit perfectly in my large. I would confirm with them but I KNOW the 10x12 fits perfect in the large
@@ThinLineDefenseCo thanks for the quick response! And yeah I’ll do that, just got me wondering now if the medium pc will fit a 10x12 plate perfectly too, I was hearing there’s some wiggle room in a large but I guess that’s wrong
@@wukang7728 I'd keep the same... Per spiritus it seems like the 10x12 would be a medium but I don't see how that would work. The large I had barely fit
I understand a lot of your points here but you’re nitpicking hard here. You yourself admitted that this was meant to be a minimalist setup, naturally scaling it up is gonna rack up the price. It’s meant to be modular (god I hate that I just used that word) and simple.
True, absolutely true. But without nitpicking, all the carriers are really just about exactly the same. I only dog on scaling it up because it's often marketed on how well it scales up. It scales up super poorly and adding weight makes the flaws come out. So I say that as people can often be led to believe it can fill those roles but even in it pinch, it absolutely cannot (well maybe like 5 minutes or long enough to go "wow this is horrible") Spittin Raisins has done a lot to fix their issues I had during this video but I'd rather spend my money elsewhere when there are so many other folks I'd rather support. Just my 2 cents though and I support whoever's gear is your favorite! -Walsh edit: this is also one of the rare carriers I sold right after the review also. Many others I have 2-3. I have zero of this one.
@@ThinLineDefenseCo That's fair, it's not a carrier that scratches the itch for everyone, but then again what carrier is? I think a lot of people who get this plate carrier assume it' the end all be all to plate carriers when really it's just one offering from one company across such a MASSIVE spectrum, and it may take someone a lot of tries to find the carrier that's right for them. Love what you do though, putting out gear reviews so damn quick and efficiently definitely gives people the ability to do less than a day of research to find what may be their preferred piece of kit. Keep up the good work!
Ranking a Condor quality carrier over a LV119 is kind of a joke. For duty use its perfect. On duty for LEO for example you don't need rear bags outfitted with combat amounts of gear. The Covert fixes these issues. Flat back and a similar front. Running a MK4 on the front is choice. They have cheaper options. In the realm of gear specifically quality gear you have to pay to play. $500 for a quality piece of gear isn't bad if you actually need it for work. Geardo's who buy it for the "revolution" or "Boog" are the ones who complain. Want to really pay some money start building out a CryeBoi carrier thats not a JPC. AVS,CPC etc. will cost you upwards of three or more times the cost of a LV119.
I have a SPC. It's half the cost and I didn't have to watch Instagram posts to try to buy one. The carrier is marginally useful but the customer experience is the worst on the market. Thanks for watching! -Walsh
@@ThinLineDefenseCo I can understand the customer experience being bad, ranking gears effectiveness on the constraint of purchase isn't really how it works. SPC is a decent carrier but follows suit on needing to purchase other things before its functional. Great review makes good points for sure. But the gear itself is great. lasts through the suck.
Is the velcro attachment between the front and rear bags a concern at all? I feel like it wouldn't be that solid of a connection especially with all the weight pulling on it
It never remotely came loose and had that thing absolutely loaded up. The shoulder strap covers also prevent it from going anywhere. Now...would it come apart if you used it like a drag handle?? ...yea probably. Why they don't include that..I don't know.
also its kind of a lie to say the SPC is cheaper, if you buy an SPC it doesn't come with a cummerbund and or front flap so you have to buy both of those things then either a mag shingle or placard so you're still looking at like 340ish to get a complete SPC
This is probably why their chest rigs are more popular than the plate carriers. As far as minimalism goes they win that department with the smallest chest rigs on the market that get the job done
this is true, is is the thinnest but also the most obnoxious to purchase. I did a top 3 placard review and it took the bottom spot. All the other placards came complete and didn't require weeks of hunting of the other required bits so yes, it's good. but I don't recommend that horrible experience to anyone who is building kit.
@@Jkp1321 absolutely absolutely agree. But the whole chest rig thing is super confusing. You want to be in a fire fight without any protection?? A chest rig is what I would wear to escape a situation only. It's just a weird use case for it. But yes... The Mk4 does it well Just my opinion though! -Walsh
@@ThinLineDefenseCo I think the civilian concept is minimal kit and high mobility. Something on the idea of avoid getting hit rather than worry about getting hit
@@Jkp1321 even with no weight, I can't outrun a bullet. I hear that logic but it doesn't make sense. I absolutely want the carrier... And I can run! But yes, for escaping a scenario and trying to not engage... Sure. But your mission would be to escape to your gear.
Hah appreciate it. Apparently sharing your personal opinion makes a lot of people angry. It's healthy we all like different stuff. This one is just too hard to recommend to the normal person. Thanks for the kind words! -Walsh
Spiritus makes excellent products when they are in stock, but they are overpriced even for the quality. I think their chest rigs are where they shine, and they should either move to seeling the plate carriers as complete kits or stop selling them as plate carriers at all. Maybe a medium would be a "discount" per item bought as a part of their kit building section of the website so that they can still sell them as full priced individual pieces but for the average joe its a complete set up for (much) less. The pouches are great innovations (the JSTA and mutant pouches in particular) as well as other nylon products (the pengolin flap, thing 2 as a chest rig base, split rig, etc are excellent) but they need to lower the prices but just a few dollars and get better contracts with their color providers however that works. I get industry wide issues with certain patterns, but spriritus is one of the few companies with consistent stock issues even today.
I always wonder if out of stock is part of the marketing strategy. Being unable to meet production just doesn't seem like the smartest business move. Plus you gotta understand how gov't contracts work. The gov agency gets commited to paying MSRP. So they don't dare lower it or the contract price goes down. So that's why you have these sky high tactical gear prices. -Walsh
The stock issues are probably one of the worst aspects of this industry. I hear that Spiritus is going to be better at keeping items in stock moving forward, but I'm hesitant to get my hopes up.
Haha I just try to give you the most knowledge to make the best purchase. If you already ordered haha you've always gotten past the painful part -Walsh
@@CRinJersey they did! I'm hoping you scooped all that up. I even considered buying a mcb carrier to match my other placard but I just couldn't justify it
Damn. I was actually somewhat interested in the cummerbund to run on my HRT, but even though I still think I could make it work, you just make me not want to support the company at all.
Hah I'd need to buy one... I'll add it to the list. Agilite k19, HRT RAC, crye spc, and aws ocpc are what I have currently to review. I'll work on getting a FCPC v5
You'll pay just as much for crye as you would for ferro or spiritus in the end for the same amount of modularity. The difference is the path you take to get there. If you're just larping then get a JPC 1.0. if you want to run a micro fight or haley kit you'll have to buy additional adapters to use on a JPC with the money you saved on buying a cheaper carrier. Crye is good but spiritus and ferro improved on design and function.
@@jasonbasonbobason I don't agree. The spiritus has no drag handle, no shoulder QDs, hell...even the rear molle costs you 80 bucks. I have not played with the FCPC but the LV 119 is not something I would recommend. I am certainly not the end all be all. But for the every day man....no. heck for military use...no
I'm not a big fan of this comment, but it's like not having any clue what this channel does on every day reviews and then shitting on it lol thanks for watching -Walsh
Tons of other companies make cummerbund for the spirit his systems 119 I feel you though their shits expensive and hardly ever in stock but their disclaimer for that is they supply military and law-enforcement units first what they have left is for sale to the general public 🤦🏼♂️
@@ThinLineDefenseCo you should check out when they go live on Instagram check the backstory on them yeah they definitely make gear for units in the military and law-enforcement I’m sure you’re fully involved in military units right now so you would know My bad
That is of course just what they say I was always taught to believe none of what I hear and only half of what I see just relying what “they say” also they have a reoccurring theme of when they do a live video you can expect something is being released that was previously out of stock I feel like right now everybody doesn’t have the money that they did or everybody’s got for the most part what they need from them because tons of stuff in stock right now seems really weird for that Company
@@eastcoastflooring4624 they absolutely may work with some military units. The ones I know have specific requirements and agencies such as SOCOM have approved gear that has to have certain features. Like how cobra buckles on belts aren't authorized. I'm sure they have some teams working with them though. I also noted that their stock is TONS better and it would certainly make the customer experience not quite as horrible as it was. Overall though, I can't recommend that experience or that cost when there are so many other options available. The lv119 fits a very specific niche and it does it well. It's just that 99% don't do that mission. -Walsh
that's a spiritus Mk4 placard connected to a modified spiritus thing 1. You gotta cut the rear out to make it work as shown. I'm working on showing how to do that but you just trim around the Velcro so it exposes the hook underneath.
ehhh shaw is more applicable for real military use. Love that carrier for both applications. This is one of the rare carriers that I just ebayed and cut my losses too bad they both use cummerbund designs from 1985
Also I agree with the review, I bought their kit throughout last year which was frustrating having to pay shipping multiple times to complete the carrier just to be able to try it. Very frustrating how much you have to spend to use their stuff. I like the chest rig, but plate carrier is lacking in options and nickel and dime you.
There are certainly some parts that make it very frustrating and a "not recommend" for me. We all have our own favorites though. I've heard the velocity scarab is good! I want to try one eventually. -Walsh
One of the worst things is that you have to become the CEO or Head of Marketing of Spiritus to figure out exactly what you need. It’s insane… I think I’m probably going to keep my Agilite K19 and add a few things to update it. You know if Spiritus wanted to nickel and dime us alright but you do that and make it completely brand specific, just another fucking slap in the face.
I don't get why it's their marketing model to screw folks. Even their direct copy of a 1974 chest rig doesn't come with the required straps... it's baffling
@@ThinLineDefenseCo holy shit!!! dude thank you, and also my comm cables thank you. P.s thanks for the review on the eclipse. Had trouble deciding between that and the blue alpha.
@@adventurelost6868 hah glad to help! And that's a tough one. The WPS belt is definitely a good one too. I just absolutely love that Axl belt though. Appreciate you watching and supporting us! -Walsh
why would someone whos buying a lv119 be upset that there is no molle on the front? like if youre looking to get carriers like this and you want a molle front you must have brain damage.
Agreements: 1. It is annoying that they charge for so many items separately (like the side bag lid) 2. It is a bitch to adjust the Cummerbunds, but you should only have to adjust it 1 time, for yourself. Contention Points: 1. "swimming with your carrier". OP has never done maritime operations (OTB was designed for special operations use) It was built for quick drainage and maintenance when cleaning. #FUDD 2. lack of expansion: It literally comes with a series of removable placards, back panels, etc. If you ran a company, why would you build a kit to run your competitors gear? 3. Color isn't meant for coolness, its meant for operational use. Conclusion: Stop being a poor.
But I have 4 lv119s in 4 different colorways... Conclusion unclear. 🏴☠️🏴☠️ *Points to the bucket marked "tears"* And they go in there. Not the comments section.
Dude anyone watching this review, this guy is complaining about the most ridiculous shit. This is very poor review on arguably the best plate carrier on the market and let’s break it down. 1. You’re complaining the whole time about items not being in stock. Well first off, have you been under a rock the past year? Everything gun related has been flying off the shelf’s to include every item on their website which leads me to my next point. 2. Spiritus Systems gear pre pandemic would be mostly stocked on all colors. Plate carriers are a hot commodity like any other tactical gear. 3. The modularity. Take the MK4 chest for example, it comes as just a plain rig. But then you can choose between 2-3 different straps to run. You can pick what magazines you need for your setup. Like MP5 mags, or 7.62, etc. then let’s look at flaps you can get a half flap for one side so you can run two pistol mag inserts on the opposite. 4. So what, you can’t run a stupid Crye pack on the pack of your carrier. Which is also inherently useless unless you have teammates to get the gear out for you. And if you need to carry that much shit on your back then you should probably use a strap back pack anyways in case your team gets killed or separated so that you can still access something you need. 5. The price. You’re paying for a premium product yes, it’s extremely well made. It’s not going to fray or fall apart on you in 2-3 or even 10+ years. 6. Spiritus Systems is perfectly modular with ATX Advantage, Velocity systems, Haley Strategic and Ferro Concepts and many more. 7. Your good point that most agree with is their retention system for the cummerbunds. 8. Why would Spiritus Systems want to be 100% modular with something like a Crye backpack or other similar products? That literally ruins their profit margins, the brand they’re trying to build and expand upon.
