Network DVD releases SPITTING IMAGE THE COMPLETE EIGHTH SERIES (15), RRP £12.99, available now.
Broadcast on ITV from 1988, no target was safe as the show lifted satire to a whole new level for over a decade. Voice artists include Chris Barrie, Steve Coogan, Jon Glover, Steve Nallon, Enn Reitel, Kate Robbins and Jessica Martin.
BAFTA-nominated many times, Spitting Image won a Bronze medal at the Montreux TV festival in 1984, establishing its success and ultimately running for 18 series in total.

They also showed Thatcher as having more balls than anyone in her entire cabinet. The first sketch I saw was in the Men's Room, with the cabinet members and Maggie standing in line, chatting while doing their business.

The thing I love about spitting image, the idea that they hinted at Adolf Hitler being Margaret Thatcher's wartime hero, it's so ridiculous and unbelievable that it's funny.

My American GF saw this for the first time in the 2000s and it was still spot on. When she saw Tebbit and Hessletine (the real ones), she recognised them immediately from their puppets - she'd thought they were exagerating!

Even for the show’s 40th anniversary, the videos, that used to be here, of this show (and definitely the much better 1984-96 version), still won’t be reuploaded, when they’ll still be copyrighted.

The idea that Thatcher's hero in the war was Hitler is just nasty offensive wicked and wrong (in both senses of the word). I don't expect less from the moral vacuum Hislop.
