Brella have such an unusual combat role and Seeing experts use them is really fascinating to watch. I often use the undercover brella and I could never figure out how to get the Tenta Brella to work well.

nice guide! The biggest differnece i noticed between your gameplay and my own is that I mostly go into squid form after launching my tent. I will try to stay in the humanoid form from now. Thank you very much for your content
@dtthire
@dtthire Год назад
You can argue for either squid or kid form after launching your tent shield to be honest From my experience, being in kid form gives you a better reaction time to attack enemies (since you don’t have to bother to go into kid form) and it also helped prevent the suction bomb glitch from Splatoon 2, which is thankfully no more in the 3rd game or at the very least extremely rare There’s definitely some situations where’d you want to be in squid form in your shield though, such as making sure you have the ink for whatever you want to do or being sneaky (this will especially be useful for when a tent will hammer will come out) So really you should do a mix of both forms in your gameplay, and pick the good form depending on the situation

Tenta Brella is definitely a tough weapon to use and you made it look so simple! I enjoy playing aggressive support, so I used it occasionally in Splatoon 2, but it feels even harder to use in this game and I might choose Splat Brella instead. Very satisfying whe you do win with Tenta though. Great guide!

Tysm for your video and recommendations, I'll be sure to take your guide into account and get better at this fella >:]

Damn, your aim is immaculate. There’s too many OHKO’s to count. Btw, what gear do you recommend. I have a main of main saver, thermal ink, swim speed, quick respawn, and some utility subs like special saver, ink res, bomb defense, plus 2 subs of sub power up.
@dtthire
@dtthire Год назад
Haha thank you ! And if you thought there was a lot of OHKO’s, you’re not gonna want to miss the next video (coming out this week if everything goes as planned) because it is some of my finest gameplay aim-wise. Gear-wise, tent basically always wants 4 abilities : Comeback, Quick Respawn, Swim Speed and Ink Saver Main. Other abilities may be use depending on the kit (for example, in Splatoon 2 Special Charge Up and Last Ditch Effort was quite common on Tenta Sorella Brella), the meta (towards the end of Splatoon 2, Object Shredder became the norm when Kgal became extremely strong (because Splash Wall became very common and the sub weapon is a great counter to tent ; even when Splatoon 3 was launched, Ninjasquid was a very commonly used ability on tent because of how strong Eliter was (it’s still strong but the meta right now is double or triple splash and eliter struggles against it)) and even the map and the mode (again, in Splatoon 2 Stealth Jump would be used for Camo and Sorella tent in rainmaker depending on the maps) But in all of these builds, no matter the meta, map, mode or kit, come back swim speed, quick respawn and ink saver main would almost always be used. The best quantities for each ability are as following: Swim Speed: from 1 sub to 1 main; you could need a bit more if you’re playing Ninjasquid, but don’t go over 2 mains your weapon still needs… Quick Respawn: minimum 1 main and 1 sub and maximum would be 2 mains and 2 sub Ink Saver main: minimum 1 sub and maximum 1 main 1 sub (the max allows you to use your sub then shoot then launch your shield and shoot once -> 1.1 isn’t useful for normal Tenta Brella but could be useful when we get an ink mine or splash wall tent) Comeback: Gives every ability the weapon likes, it’s really good on tent Don’t forget to use 1 sub of special saver and quick super jump; we’ll have to see if other 1 sub use abilities like ink recovery up are useful on tent in this game Note: don’t use run speed, it’s the beginner’s trap. It doesn’t help you move in the shield like you think it does, and if you want to play with your shield, swimming in it is better. The space that would be used for run speed should be used on quick respawn and swim speed. You can already follow your shield perfectly without it in kid form. Run speed is useful on the other brellas but not on tent. I hope I helped !

@dtthire

I use 2 subs of ink saver main, which is the recommended amount in Sp3; you should NEVER use more than 1 main and 1 sub of it, it’s wasting gear space because the bonus doesn’t offer anything beyond that benchmark

Can you teach how to aim properly? I think my problem with brellas is the aiming. I cant get any good shots in. Like is it better to jump shot? To practice flick shots???
@dtthire
@dtthire Год назад
Since a lot of people have asked me this by now and since exam week finishes next Wednesday afternoon for me at time of posting, I’ll try to make an aim guide but in the mean time: Remember to aim at the stomach of the player, more of your pellets will hit because the hitbox there is bigger Make sure the entire reticle is on the target, otherwise not all pellets’ll hit Clip your lost fights, watch which flick you should’ve done in order to win it and practice that shot in the training until you don’t miss Shooting while jumping gives you slightly more range and therefore slightly more paint and it’s great for pocking at the enemy all the while making you harder to hit; however, it’s a lot harder to aim in the air, which makes your damage even more inconsistent; since it’s a lot easier to aim when you’re on the floor, I advice to shoot while on the floor then jump to make yourself harder to it (with the end lag you’ll only be able to shoot once you’re on the floor again anyways) Hope this helped !
@TrickyJebus
@TrickyJebus Год назад
@@dtthire i seee I see. Ty! This kind of training probably needs high sensitivty for my motion controls I guess
@dtthire
@dtthire Год назад
Not necessarily; my sensitivity is -1,5 and I’m still doing great in games With motion, find the sensitivity that works for you not necessarily the highest one possible Test around different sensitivities and see which one works out for you when playing tent if your normal sensitivity doesn’t work for it

What are good main and sub abilities for Tenta Brella? So far I only have a Tri-Stringer set up with LDE with 3 subs of Ink Saver Main, Thermal Ink with 2 subs Quick Superjump 1 sub Ink Resist and Run Speed Up with 2 subs of Run Speeds and 1 sub of Sub Defence, and I don't think these would be good aside from maybe the LDE
@dtthire
@dtthire Год назад
LDE can be good, but not on this kit, since it doesn’t have a sub weapon that benefits from LDE and Run Speed is actually useless on tent, it’s worth it on the other brellas but tent really doesn’t it need it because if you want to move in your shield, you can just swim in it, which leads me to my next point, aka the abilities you want : Comeback (all the bonuses it provides are great for tent after it respawns), Quick Respawn (minimum 1 main 1 sub, maximum is around 2 mains of it) (tent is a weapon that’s really easy to punish and that won’t get a lot of kills, QR is just a really nice and useful insurance), Swim Speed (minimum 1 sub, maximum 1 main) (can’t go wrong with more mobility in a fast paced game), Ink Saver Main (no more than 1 main 1 sub) (weapon is super ink hungry and small amounts (1-2 subs) helps it a lot. Depending on the meta and if there’s a lot of splash walls and specials that neutralize tent that have a lot of hp, use Object Shredder; depending on the kits in the future and the map/modes (such as in rainmaker or on big maps), use Stealth Jump.

How do you shoot the car door so fast? I swear it takes me three seconds to deploy.
@dtthire
@dtthire Год назад
By “car door”, do you mean the tent shield? If you’re talking about the tent shield, all you have to do is remain in kid form and keep on pressing the ZR button (a single press will shoot the weapon, holding the ZR button will open the shield and holding it even longer will launch the shield). Going into squid form or releasing the ZR button while make the tent go back into its initial undeployed state. Keep in mind that the time it takes to launch your shield is different for regular brella and Tenta Brella, if that is what you were talking about.

@dtthire
@dtthire 8 месяцев назад
@yummerlummers I don’t have a capture card 😄 When I want to record gameplay, I simply use the switch’s clipping system, and take a clip every ~25 seconds or so. Then, I transfer every single clip to my phone where I stitch it all together on the free editing app I use, named InShot. So yes, this mean that I have not spent a single dollar for my editing and recording setup, which gives some very strong Uncle Scrooge energy.

@@dtthireWHATTT I'm praying for your storage rn 😭
@dtthire
@dtthire 8 месяцев назад
@yummerlummers yeahhhh it’s better now, my father passed me his phone when he got a better one, so I no longer have those issues. This is why none of my videos were in 1080p or 60 fps btw, because that was the maximum file size my phone could accept of the video and were talking about ~8 minutes videos AT MOST 😭 The latest upload of the Transformers Prime episode shows this is thankfully no longer an issue, as the video is both 1080p and 60 fps and is 17 minutes long. I know this is going to sound very silly but the storage issues contributed to the lack of uploads over the past year because in December 2022 I started working on a video, and transferred ~10 minutes of footage (the fabled big project I’ve kept on mentioning over the last year) and when it got to editing it, it turned out to be a very, very annoying video to edit. It was long and tedious, and while that’s often the case for other videos, you get an actual result y’know? You get to see at your stop motion action, interesting meme ideas, sick transitions and so on. But for the big project, because its an educative guide, there’s none of that, it’s gameplay analysis and just writing a whole bunch (you can expect the outro of the video to be JAMMED with memes). I reached a spot where I had worked enough on the video that giving up on it was a abandoning a lot of work because I had already deleted this footage from my switch (I didn’t like that idea at all) but if I tried something I basically didn’t have the space necessary to commit to any other big ideas I wanted to do :/ So yeah, that was stupid and I’ve resumed work on the guide, you can honestly expect it to release this weekend if I work very hard on it or maybe the next week, because this one is pretty busy (driving school on Sunday and I’m goinf to attend a small local LAN on Sunday)

Idk what's up with RU-vid but this is my 2nd video of cool Tenta Brella gameplay so it's a sign I must return to it! Question, how do you get the 1 shot kills so consistently? I always get 2 or 3 shots to kill
@dtthire
@dtthire Год назад
Welcome back 🤝 The real deal in order to get the one shot with tent is to 1) Always make sure that your shot is RIGHT on the target, otherwise not all the pellets of your shot will hit and you won’t get the one shot 2) Always aim slightly lower than you would with any non brella weapon. Brellas deal more damage when you aim slightly lower: aim towards the stomach rather than the head/shoulders with brellas, the hitbox of the inkling is wider there, which means that more pellets will hit and that it is even more likely to get the one shot. Also, could you show me what was the first Tenta Brella gameplay video you saw ? I’m curious 👁

Thank god someone had finally done it, I’ve been trying to find more videos but barely anyone makes Tenta brella videos. Also am I the only one that finds squid beakon kinda underwhelming with this weapon? I think some other sub would really help it (nobody uses my beakons either)
@dtthire
@dtthire Год назад
You’re welcome 🫡 I’ve been working on this video for about 2 months with great parsimony, so I’m glad you found it useful I have plenty of other ideas for potential videos but be warned because my uploads will realistically be on a monthly basis, even if I’m going to try to put out another video before the next patch comes out (aka the 1st December) And yes, it is true that you will find beakons to be a very lacking sub, but I still think it can be useful. It’s a great way to support your team when you don’t have a backline on big maps and it synergies well with Quick Respawn. On a more specific view, beakons can be used to block a couple of enemy shots and, most importantly, beakons are a reliable way to quickly paint your feet. Tent’s main weapon is super slow, so when you’re in a pickle and need to run away but you just need to paint your feet to make your escape, simply place a beakon and run away. Ofc it won’t always work but this trick has saved me more than once
@redpipola
@redpipola Год назад
@@dtthire do you think point sensor would work well for the next kit?
@dtthire
@dtthire Год назад
If you think beakon isn’t doing enough, point sensor is even worse. People tend to shark and try to ambush you a lot when you’re playing tent, so I can understand the reasoning behind such a choice, but the reality is that tent really doesn’t need it because the sub doesn’t complement any of its weakness or improve its strengths and there are alternatives for such a role of “detecting the enemy” (beakons will detect opponents close to them when you open your map and you can place a mine around a corner to detect someone potentially hiding there) Point sensor doesn’t paint, it doesn’t help you survive, it doesn’t help you when you’re getting rushed by the enemy and it doesn’t provide chip damage, which is what tent wants in its kit. I would argue that point sensor would be the worse sub weapon for tent in the entire game, as every other sub weapon can do something that would help the main weapon.
@redpipola
@redpipola Год назад
@@dtthire what do you think would be the best sub for Tenta?
@dtthire
@dtthire Год назад
The best one would be burst bomb. It would help compensate the weapon’s damage inconsistency and it would make it a lot more mobile, both of which have always been some of tent’s major weaknesses (the inability to consistently get kills and disengaging bad fights, unlike some other great weapons like the splash-o-matic). It would make the weapon insanely better at fighting, and it would therefore be even harder to counter it. However, we must keep in mind that burst bomb on tent is never going to happen because it would make the weapon ridiculously good.
