I had this same lift on my 04 700 Sportsman..a few axle probs. Had 1 separate from the cv joint when 1 front wheel got off the ground and it drooped. glad to see yours has been ok. :)
If you cut the plastic knobs over the shock towers off. You dont have to pull all ur plastics.. And u can always just super glue them back on. But u cant see them anyways..Cool vid
Great video.I just received my lift kit. A question, how hard is it to change out the front springs for some slightly stiffer, more heavy duty springs while in there?
Hey man love ur videos. Literally helped me model my sportsman after yours. Had a question though after I put on my lift kit the bushings around the sway bar aren’t tight. Is this normal. The sway bar is tight but not the bushings.
I installed this kit on our 450, and it looks way higher! I also adjusted the rear springs to the 2nd highest setting. I noticed the spring on the exhaust side is either rubbing or almost rubbing the exhaust pipe. Have you ever looked at that on yours? It still looks sweet, but in desperate need of bigger tires. I’m going with some 27’s, but haven’t decided which ones yet. Do you think I will need to install a clutch kit, as you did?
Awesome! A clutch kit definitely is worth it, I feel like 27”s can go either with or without and still be ok, but I’d lean more towards doing it if you have the $$. I haven’t noticed my spring rubbing the exhaust I’ll have to check.
Thank's mate helped out in a pinch with me working on the back of mine. Just wanted to make sure u doing the back wouldn't sent the shock flying into my arm. Would love to know where you got the lift kit as I would love to get it for myself.
First and Foremost Love Your CHannel / I have A 450 HO 2019 ..with this lift kit Would you have to change the Front and Rear Axles, That Are OF Longer Length ????
Thanks for watching!!! I haven’t changed the axles yet, stock ones are fine, as far as length. Only thing I’ve heard is that the stock ones are prone to breaking with a lift kit and bigger tires. But so far mine have held up.
Quick question.. the front kit is sweet but they also offer a collar lift for the struts, where you pull the strut out of the lower sleeve put the collar on then reassemble.. so my question is, can you use both kits? The collar for the strut and sleeve and use the kit for the top of the strut like seen in video???
Honestly, I don’t think it’d work, probably not a good idea anyway, if it did work the ride would be pretty bad and it’d overextend the axles for sure.
i installed this lift kit added 1 in wheel spacers and went to a 26 in tire. pulled out of garage did one lap around yard and both front cv shafts broke. i put brand new eastlake shafts in and they still feel loose at the differential. any suggestions or maybe just remove the lift.
Oh man! Sorry to hear, I’m surprised they broke with only 26”s. Just make sure the new axles are pushed in all the way, a little bit of play is normal at the diff. I would give it a try, I’ve heard good things about Eastlake axles.
You should be good as long as the bolts are tight, I did notice the sway bar seemed to have play in it still, but as long as your bolts are tight it should be fine.
My wife rides on back of our 22 450 80-90% of the time and we find ourselves bottoming out a fair bit on rougher trails. I've heard that kits like this can cause cv axle problems. Does anyone know if this will be fine if both of us are on the rig most of the time. Tires are 26" slingshots. Small chance of going to 27 mud lites in the future.
You will be fine I had the same issue with mine and my wife’s 2019 and we are running 28” terminator’s and after the lift kit we turned the shocks down 2 clicks and where it rubbed before the lift clearanced it self so no more rub and for cv angle when both of you are on it it would be just about factory angle
@@nathanjunior2294 Yeah we ended up putting one in after and turned the back shocks down 2 clicks, I think they're sitting on 3 now. Ended up getting 1 7/8" of lift in total. Loving the bike now as we're not bottoming out so much.
C&j mud co I installed a 4.5 inch lift on my sportsman but now the front is taller than the back but I put full lift for front and back but it’s squatted do u know why that is?
Not real sure, maybe just double check the lift kit to make sure nothings seated improperly. Other than that maybe you can try to tighten up the rear suspension.
Hello ! I have the 2021 450 and when I try to install the front spacer it doesn’t screw all the way down there’s a half inch space inbetween is that okay ? It won’t screw all the way
@@CocosAdventuress ok as long as there's nothing in between try tightening it down and see how it goes. Maybe 2021 is a bit different and may be how it is.
No issues yet! I keep hearing I’m gonna break an axle but I’m running 28” mega mayhems the lift kit and a clutch kit with stock axles still holding up!
@@CJMudCo yeah I got 27 sti outback max coming I swap the rear shocks out with the bronco shocks with heavy duty spring and it doesn’t squat near as bad and rides good
From what I’ve heard the stock axles don’t hold up well in general and a lift or tires put more stress on them causing failures. I guess there’s some good aftermarket axles, I’ll probably look into some if and when I have any problems.
It's been a great machine so far, got about 200 miles on it, Its got good power and if you've seen our other videos its pretty impressive in the mud stock. Most of all you can't beat the price!
I have heard that any lift in rear will eventually require an axel upgrade due to stock angle being so extreme. Is it the same for the front with a 2" lift? Can you get away with a 2" spacer in the rear instead of the lift?
@@CJMudCo ok, just seems like a lot to time and effort for 1-1.5", when you could get 2" from just the tires. Not faulting or criticizing, because I don't have the talent to tear it down and put it back together, or the patience, LOL. You obviously know your way around that quad.
I hear ya! No problem at all everyone has different opinions, I actually enjoy doing this kind of stuff and if it helps anyone out there that’s a bonus!
