@@justines1919 i’m a recovering narcissist. although it was never expressed, i believe i hurt people (especially friends) unintentionally. The attention was always on me and my life. I couldn’t care less about anything else. Once I hit about 18, i realized i didn’t even know anything about my so called “friends”. That was a turning point for me. We don’t always know that we’re hurting one another. In my case, I don’t think i was unkind, just selfish. The moment my dad started trying to tell me my doormat of a mother is a narcissist, I knew he was one. I saw the signs, the ego, the violent anger at the smallest criticism, and the years of emotional neglect and abuse. But that one crystallized it. First she tried to guild trip me so that I think I broke her trust and destroyed her business. Later that day she insulted me and thretened me with a lawsuit for fraud... The thing is the time I worked (with a spoken contract) for her she was the kindest boss I've ever had... Sidenote: I have some friends who are policemen and they asured me I did nothing wrong and told me I should report her for tax evasion, since she tried to hire me basically for a full time job but as a freelancer which is illegal in my country (that way the boss doesn't have any taxes for the worker). @@lookin4you It's more like if one has to live with a narcissist from a younger age and abuse is occurring 3 significant things can happen based on resilience, self preservation, intuition and grooming. First result, is getting abused by the narcissist cause you can't put up the emotional barriers to block out the torment and insecurities they drill into you. Second result is being finessed into a narcissist by favor of the narcissist just imprinting themselves into you and you'll become one. You escape most harsh negatives from them because they teach and raise you wrong but it plays into thier ego of molding you. Third and rarest result is becoming a sociopath because you'd have honned self-awareness through observations and assimilated the mental disassociation tactics that protect you from them

Just ignore them. Easiest and most non dramatic way that will leave you the better person. Don’t chat about them with friends or pay them any mind. Your energy and attention is their supply. When at work don’t respond to non work related conversations and just focus. They will go out of their way to “try” and make themselves a priority in your life. If you have to conversate make it nonchalant and seem preoccupied like their annoying and you have to other more important things to do.. because you do!

I wanted to address some misconceptions here. It is important to be mindful of certain key factors when discussing narcissistic personality disorder. - It is common for individuals with NPD to not seek treatment for various reasons such as lack of awareness, reluctance to admit they need help, or denial of having a problem. - Research on treatments for NPD is limited, but there are some studies suggesting that therapy, such as psychotherapy, can be beneficial in improving functioning and reducing symptoms. -The long-term outcomes for those with NPD can vary greatly. Some individuals may see significant improvements with therapy and create lasting changes in behavior and relationships, while others may find it challenging to maintain progress. -NPD is often linked to interpersonal difficulties like conflicts, manipulation, and struggles forming meaningful connections. These issues can make it tough for those with NPD to engage in therapy or sustain progress. change is possible for some individuals with NPD, but it is a complex journey that necessitates dedication, support, and ongoing treatment. Let's ensure we are spreading accurate information, avoid demonizing groups of people as a monolith and keep in mind the complexities of this disorder.

Psychology and sociology have come up with some weird and bigoted theories. It's actually very difficult to ignore feelings of guilt especially if you have functional empathy & can put yourself in another's shoes. Giving a small regular amount to well researched charities is a good way to alleviate Guilt, then you can focus on working & let professionals focus on actual victims at a safe distance. Many vulnerable people out there are trying to leverage with self pity stuck in a victimhood complex, it's frustrating as they could help themselves but continue to self sabotage, hence why "Victimologists" exist. I was diagnosed as having anxious attachment (I am now diagnosed as healed), and anxious attachers do tend to fly off the handle when criticized especially by their closest people. It's caused by an abandonment wound and low self-esteem, along with a high view of others (putting others on a pedestal). I am a psychology major with a passion for mental health and helping people. Just saying some conditions can mimic this behavior. Anxious attachment mimics certain symptoms of vulnerable narcissism so they can be hard to tell apart, but anxious attachers have a lot of love for others and commonly choose careers such as in mental health fields. Anxious attachers also experience toxic amounts of guilt towards themselves - my tendency to constantly make myself responsible for others' emotions was something i needed to work on in therapy.

I actually like your videos. You’re honest, self-aware, and interesting. I like hearing your take on narcissism. I honestly feel like someone can be sociopathic without being narcissistic because sociopathy is simply the brain’s mechanism to survive but it doesn’t make you some monster. People who are sociopaths are still very human. They just grew up adapting like they were surrounded by wild animals in a jungle or something. A lot of sociopaths have been physically beaten or dealt with just fucked up circumstances that fostered a mechanism to turn off empathy to survive. I have BPD and you said in one of your videos that people with BPD are “sweet” and “easy to manipulate” in your experience. In my opinion, borderlines can be just as abusive as narcissists, especially if they don’t treat their disorder or live with it unaware/undiagnosed. This is because even though people with BPD are empathetic, we can be very selfish and our rage can override empathy if we are enraged and do not know how to properly regulate our emotions, and there is no excuse for that. I like hearing you expand on your experience with people who have different kinds of cluster B or C pathologies/personality disorders.

Im autistic and I remember watching a tiktok of a man diagnosed with npd talk about how autistic ppl can be terrifying to them because we often have an unexpressive demeanor which makes it difficult for ppl to identify what we're thinking or feeling. Narcissists thrive off the attention of praise and constant need for validation and fear rejection. As an autistic person, I dont really care about what ppl think of me and I'm unassuming by default. I do often leave people "on read" irl and left people feeling ignored which I don't do intentionally. He said that we can be threatening because narcissists need to know what others think of themselves constantly so it'd be like interacting with a blank canvas with an autistic person which then leaves no room for narcissists to project their insecurities on and would just repel back towards themselves leaving them feel uncomfortable.

This is gold! Yes they're either outright bragging, or playing the martyr. It seems narcissists are easy marks for sociopath, who are better at this, just in the way empaths and codependents are easy marks for narcissists ( especially malignant ones)? We can all definitely learn from each other? I love everything you said and also the thing you said at the end don't do this to them when they're healing, or working/willing toward healing?! I work with a narcissist and I have aspergers. I clocked it the first day I started working. The biggest hint was the immense bragging. I have a habit of talking about myself but I'm overly aware of social cues because I have to be. And she barely asks questions to whomever she's talking to, and when she does she'll follow it with something about herself. She also loves control and tried and still does at times, to dominate me and my work with no avail. She avoids me more now though, I guess she figured out thay trying to manipulate or control an aspy girl isn't going to work. Also I'm good at my job, got a promotion, so whenever she tries to intervene in my work and division I can flat out tell her to go back to her department because its not her field of expertise, and if she has a problem with it I have the title and paperwork to back me up. She hates that. And I'm always polite to her until she crosses a line and I don't like how she treats my other coworkers (so much gaslighting). And I don't get why they can't see it. They admit they dont like her and they sigh when they her coming, but I figured they don't want to be mean or rude or feel guilty of setting boundaries but I don't have that problem. So I take it upon myself to keep her away from them.

Instead, it just worsens with each thing she does. The biggest problem? She thinks people at our working place still think, miss, and talk about her after she quit. She also believes everyone loves her. Don't get me wrong, she is nice to some extent but thinks the world revolves around her and she's always in the right. And in the end, even our co-workers (for her, former), they even say "she may be nice but I could never hang out with her for the long run". And this says a lot about her.

Now I wouldn’t say she jumps to take accountability or anything but she is open to the feedback (at least from me because she respects my psychology background & ability to read others) and receptive to the conversation instead of shutting down & resorting to verbal & emotional attacks. I suspect it’s out of loneliness, but I’ll take it. I’ve been telling her since I was a kid she would end up alone in the end if she continued down the path of operating out of shame hiding her addiction & blaming everyone else for it instead of taking accountability 🤷‍♀️ Keep praying that the unconditional love you demonstrated was enough to crack a hole in the wall around their heart & that it allowed enough light ☀️ in to guide them down the path of healing, even if that path is a lonely one and you never get an apology.

Is it a general belief that the world is a better place for you to live in this way, or is it a projection of your own experience and struggles? I am at least mostly NT as far as I know, so i can't know what it's like to not feel empathy, i would've assumed a sociopath would not care who they are hurting.
