Gary, You are my favorite Avocado video guy. I like the way you think. You ask many of the right scientific questions. You are a true Avocado Scientist. Thanks!
That's the first time I've been called a "scientist" I'm going to change my official title from "Scary Hairy Gary" to "Scary Hairy Gary Gragg, PHD, Avocado Scientist Fareak" I feel so distinguished now. Thanks for watching
Gary, thanks for your honey water result. I will try that next spring. I used a cotton brush to brush the flowers and am getting a few fruits setting in foggy Pacifica. On another note, when I was a Peace Corps volunteer in Fiji Islands back in 1970's I tasted the best avocado ever. The avocado was a huge pear shape and it had a creamy nutty butter taste.
I've used this before in the past and its worked well. But unfortunately no luck this year for some reason. The bees were untrusted in my citrus more. Thanks for showing your results bro.
WOWZA! That’s a ton of fruit. I did this with my Wurtz (first crop) but with much less honey and only on to the leaves around the flowers just because I was concerned that the stickiness would prevent the flowers from opening and closing. Hang soap (Irish something or other) bars in a pantyhose on the trees. Apparently it keeps the deer away. Question: Do ants go crazy on your trees with the honey water spray?
Hey Gary. Think I got a tree from you about a year and a half ago. Drove over from Stockton. It's doing good btw :) I have heard this spray with honey water trick from low and behold yet another Gary down in Laguna Hills Nursery. Any way should the honey water be sprays prior to the flowers opening or during the time the flowers are open? Thanks Anthony
Yes, I live in S. San Francisco CA where climate is moderate (Mediteranian) A seed was in my buried garbage (compost) and it sprouted close to my house. I kept cutting it down since it was too close to house. It kept re-growing, I finally left it. It is now taller than my roof and producing much fruit!!! It can happen if you're lucky!
