I love your cleaning vlogs. You give me such great ideas and have been decluttering since you mentioned it last time. I'm even decluttering my mom's things since she has dementia and doesn't remember. Is that bad??? I don't think so since I'm the one who cleans it.😁
@Neisha i don’t know if your aware but Amanda is going through a rough time right now, they had to rush 1 of their dogs to vet and unfortunately it had to be put down, I know you and dr Ken Berry care about her so I wanted you to know!
Congratulations! I’m 63, took me a long time to understand I didn’t need “things”. I constantly kept an immaculate decorated home, basically for appearances. In my 50s I realized how much of my life I wasted on “things” and people. My kids were gone, just me and my husband. I did a ton of soul searching. Realized I was living for everyone but myself. I practically (kidding) pulled a dumpster up to my door. I unloaded every single aspect of my life. I walked away from so many people, my circle is the size of a jar lid now. I went back to my art that I had left behind. I started gardening again. Cleaned out my house. I’m actually in the process of making my home a minimalist space. I’m happier, healthier and less mentally overwhelmed. I went back and found me, the real me, the weird me, the artist me. My life is sooooo peaceful now, simple, runs smoothly. Moral of the story I set myself FREE!
Wow, that's my dream at 67. Seeing it written by someone else opened up something in me. Starting NOW, the junk room, aka 2nd bedroom, is my first target. Thank you!
Very inspiring 🤩 I’m 37 and felt like I wasted time people pleasing, caring about what other people think and living in fear- never perusing my dreams. I used food to cope my entire life and later drank alcohol and cannabis to “unwind”. None of these methods actually ever helped and, only dug me deeper into anxiety and depression. Last year I had a big blow out with my husband which made me realize that I was the only person who I can ultimately count on. My husband showed me was very unstable which exacerbated my anxiety and depression. However, in that same moment, my life/mind changed- I was feeling so scared about my husbands state of mind that my instinct was to call out- “God!! Please help me/us!” I was in such despair that God and his mercy spoke to me. I realized that I had put my trust in cannabis & alcohol to “ease” my worries and I had forgotten about my Heavenly Father (except when I was in such despair) How could I have gotten this far away from my spirituality and relationship with the creator of the universe?! Instantly, I felt an immense disdain for my addictions and gained confidence in the epiphany God had enlightened me with!! The first few days I was on fire for God but then came doubt & desire to use again. It was a battle, my flesh wanted instant gratification but my spirit knew those things were mortal and lead to nothing. I knew I had to hold on to God’s revelation in my life and pray for courage in this new life I had chosen with the help of him!! I have been sober since the beginning of December 2022 and my mental health has improved greatly! My spirit is high knowing that God is real!! He changed my perspective and gave me new life! I had been living in fear, never perusing my dreams but all that has changed. I’m living the carnivore lifestyle, starting a nonprofit exercise dancing program for special needs and meeting great people that are excited and willing to help me get this vision on paper. It’s never too late to get in touch with your creator and ask for his help. He will always guide us to green pastures 😇 God Bless you all!!
Imagine 2 kids, all those things that need to be done, all while working full time away from home. Hats off to all the single moms just trying to do the things! 💞
Me and my wife started decluttering in January, three truck loads so far and probably two more. I must say, from doing this, we've come to the conclusion, that our house is more than we need. Looking at down sizing, less space, equals less clutter to deal with. We are working on decluttering our bodies also, just started the Lion's diet this week. Thanks to Dr Ken and you for the informative videos, God bless!
Hi Neisha! You've been really sharing quite a bit lately and it's been so encouraging to me. I can honestly relate! I am a firm believer that the 'spiritual' manifests in the 'natural'. As we continue in our walk with Jesus and bible reading, a purging happens. It not only happens in our hearts (forgiveness, release of anger, etc.) but it also happens in the natural! Look at how you are purging and cleaning out stuff. That's wonderful! Go gurl! So happy for you!
I'm right there with ya on the counter clutter and seasonal decor. It's so much easier to clean up your kitchen when you can just do a spray and wipe down, and not have to move all the nic nacs out of the way to clean! Less visual clutter for me really frees my mind to focus on the things that matter. It's almost like overstimulation for me. I loved this talk, thank you!!!
One of my boyfriends used to say my room looked like a nun’s, because it was so empty. He has gone on to have a successful career as a journalist, so I cannot say he was wrong. Meanwhile however I have NOT frittered away the past fifty years of my life dusting knick-knacks...!😅
I’m here for all of it! When you grow up with nothing it’s hard to let go of stuff…especially your nice stuff…but I’m doing it! The boxes of decorations will be really hard…but I will pray through it and do it!
Meal planning tip: It works best for me is to have a dedicated type of animal product for each day of the week. I have a running list options that go with each day. Mon-eggs🥚🍳 Tues-ground🥩 Wed-chicken🐓 Thur- pork 🐖 Fri- Seafood🐟🍤 Sat- Steak 🥩 or Ribs Sun-Soup 🥣 & Salad🥗
@@dellzywillis3001 no, but it could work that way. It is more for planning the evening meal with family. I usually don’t eat breakfast. I usually eat leftovers from the day before for an afternoon meal.
Love the idea of spring cleaning. I hold on to everything. I have jeans, blouses, sweaters I wore 20 years ago…Gone.I use to do spring cleaning every year befor the Zombie Apocalypse happen. I have boxes and boxes of books I’ve read thru the years..why? Clear the chaos, clears the mind. Love your video.❤️❤️
I love these! I’ll be adding some to my list. One tip I have for moms with little kids is about their laundry. When putting away laundry, instead of putting shirts in one drawer, pants in another and so on, put outfits together and stack them on top of each other in drawers. This makes is so easy to get dressed. They can easily pick out a matching outfit (as can dad 😅) and it helps you keep track of misc items that maybe don’t have a mate and need to be donated.
I’m a huge declutterer - and decided if my appliances do t have a home out of site - they are gone .. keeping my counter space open and airy with a few things like candle etc has made a world of difference - I’ve also gone so minamalist - and the less I have the easier it is to keep up
I once house-sat for a woman who owned every appliance imaginable, set out at the ready on her kitchen countertops. She was a great cook, granted, but it took me AND her housekeeper two full hours each week to clean that kitchen.😮
I knew in the first video where you shared about decluttering more and more was going to leave! ha! It is so freeing and feels so good to see clear spaces, clear cabinets, drawers...not having to manage so much stuff! I took 3 boxes of stuff out of here yesterday and I'm always looking for more. I haven't bought decor for years and I gave up knick knacks long ago (unless it has special meaning-like family pieces) ...who wants to dust it. Love this video!
I went through this, too, a few years ago. Especially in my kitchen. I had ALL THE DARN THINGS. why do 2 ppl need 5 sets of dishes? They don't. I cut it down to 4 place settings in stoneware and 4 in melamine and jar glasses and that's it! It has felt like 4 years of living without a bra 😆 Canning supplies seem like a lot but they're organized and get used all the time. It's been a big improvement for my anxiety/ depression
Girlfriend, I have been spring cleaning for over a year now. I’m living in my parents house that I grew up in and they both grew up during the depression so you can imagine the clutter and the things that were kept at one point. I got so overwhelmed I just stopped, then I saw one of your videos about picking a small space and just doing that so I’ve started again one spot at a time one drawer at a time one corner at a time. Eventually I’ll get there. And I with you on the cups hot coffee goes in a mug. Call coffee goes in a glass. Why doesn’t it Weinglass I totally get it, it’s those little OCD tendencies that we have. Decluttering and minimizing the junk that people keep is so great for your mental health adults just like the children can get overwhelmed when there’s just so much to do so many unfinished projects. You’re awesome my friend love you mean it
What a great video! It's a breath of fresh air to see one in your generation to have it together. Putting your babies on the top of priorities is being a great momma! The end results are the most rewarding and important thing you can do for them and you. You will love purging and the results! The chore of getting there is a small challenge, but you are on your way! 😊
Clothing! If I don’t wear it regularly, out it goes. I don’t clothes shop. My tip, as a former professional organizer is this; everything you think you “need” must be on a list for at least a month. This eliminates impulse buying and gives you time to shop for high quality/good value. And it gives you time to think about where that item will live in your home, how often you’re likely to use it, will it replace another similar item, etc. My experience of 30 years? the fewer things you own, the easier your life.
Something that helps me to get my workout in is I break them up into micro workouts. Instead of a single 30 mins workout I will do three 10 min workouts or even six 5 min workouts when I can fit them in. I also use my kids as weights, my two year old weighs 32 pounds, I will pick him up and do a few sets of goblet squats, or overhead presses, bicep curls, ect. Or I will bring some dumbbells in the kitchen and knock out a few sets while I'm making a meal, wait for water to boil or the bacon to cook. In my mind if it's easier to find 5 mins to do a quick workout than it is to find 30 mins everyday. Also I prefer my coffee in a glass mason jar.
I am a mom of 7, you are doing so much good for you and your family! The chaos will always be there but having control over your stuff and your responses is the biggest thing you can do to help maintain your peace and joy. I wish I had that knowledge two kids in. ❤
Way to go Niesha. I’m not a minimalist either, but I’m 62 now & retired. I DON’T need all that stuff anymore. Keep what brings me joy & get rid of all “the stuff” that doesn’t. Proud of you. 🥰❤️❤️🥰
The cups!!! I have so many! Books are a weakness, I prefer real books over reading on my Kindle and once I purchase a book it's stays. I've gotten back into going to the library again.
Once you declutter, to avoid more clutter, when you bring something into your home, something else has to go. My dad lived in a motorhome and taught me this. Best advice ever.
You, ma'am, are NOT the only one who believes certain drinks should be in certain vessels lol. That's part of what makes it a special treat. And yes, getting rid of chaos is good for your mental health! I declutter on the regular and my rule is: one in, one out. Have a blessed week.
Yes Sister! I de clutter weekly or daily anytime I feel I haven’t used something or haven’t been wearing a piece of clothing. Anything I feel go about getting rid of. You are inspiring right now. Thank you
Thanks for that Neisha!! What a blessing that you are such a wise young woman! Your beautiful babies will be grown before you know it and all these “things” won’t even matter (who cares if you don’t get a shower until 11! Play with kiddos and enjoy every little smile!!). Matthew 6:33 💕🙏
I am also very specific about my cups and glasses!😂. Tea goes in a tea cup or tea mug, coffee goes in a coffee mug - and a specific coffee mug depending on the type of day or when I am having it! And for the occasional glass of wine with dinner, a stemmed glass that is the right shape is an absolute must!!
I like to keep clothing & footwear of same color grouped together. That way you can mix & match & know what you need. E.g. You look at your cream colors & realize you need say, a cardigan. It also makes sure you don't buy duplicates or too similar of anything (unless you really want to). Def it's more calming, cleaner & easier when you don't have so much on display collecting dust. Organization & cleanliness is key. It's always easier with less stuff!
Back in late 90s and early 200ss I went through all the kitchen got to haves. I had a bread machine, a pasta machine, a deep fryer, a crock pot, toaster oven, and other misc stuff that everyone just had to have. (This was all pre keto) I have a small kitchen with little counter space, next to no cabinet space, and no pantry. I started moving things out into the garage (temporarily) until I wanted to use them. And I found I was never using them and didn't miss them. So eventually I tossed them all out. And wow, I actually have counter space I can use to work on. I'm same with my house decor. Tables are for using, not displaying. If its only purpose is to either sit there and look pretty, or to hold things that sit there and look pretty, I got rid of them as well. I came up with a bit of a rule. If I haven't used something or worn it over the past year, it goes out the door. There are a few exceptions. For example, the high heals I wear for weddings, funerals, and job interviews are kept around. As I get older, I am just so sick of stuff. In fact about 5 or so years ago, I requested people to no longer give me gifts for any occasion. If you want to give me a gift, write me a nice letter, send me a card, get together for lunch, go out and do something fun. Time spent with a friend is one of the best gifts anyone can give you. Just please, no stuff! Now I am certainly not a minimalist. I have things, I just try to keep them to things that have a purpose. Oh and btw - if you really want to deep fry, that dutch oven can do it as well. They are excellent at holding steady temperatures and Its one of my few must have kitchen tools.
I naturally started waiting to have my coffee almost an hour after waking and doing the same thing with my electrolytes and sparkling water first - Made a huge difference for me - speaking only for myself
Boy, I can't tell you the weight it lifted when I started decluttering flat catch-alls around my house. Not only did it reduce the number of places to put "things" but so much less dust. My allergies are so much better. I did the same thing with appliances haven't made or even eaten bread for so long that my bread machine had rust on it. lol, That was quick to go.
Cleaned out top shelf in all kitchen cabinets and donated so much I haven't used! It's still a work in progress. Decluttering much to my husband chagrin!
Raising my hand on the specific glasses for specific drinks (mostly glassware). Recently purged, it was difficult, but honestly I’ve hardly have noticed.
Neisha you will find amazing energy as you declutter. I’ve been doing the same thing and it feels great. You are so cute and fun to listen to. Thanks for sharing your motivation ❤
Well done. A little while ago I felt very strongly in my spirit to set my life in order - basically same idea. Go through all my stuff, things, papers, wardrobe, books, kitchen, etc., and do a reality check. When did I last use that? Does it serve a positive purpose for me? Am I really going to read that book or am I just fooling myself? Because “stuff” not only takes up physical space, it also takes up mental space. It’s a work in progress.
I hear ya! I had to clear clutter a year and a half ago when we moved 2 hours away. I downsized my teapot collection and even gave my most prized one that had been grandma's from her wedding in 1905!! No worries it went to a niece who will cherish it. Coffee mugs...not as many as you have but I find ones with scriptures on them and feel I must have them. Going to work on that! LOL! Pillows I can pass by. My thing is blankets , quilts and lap throws! And tote bags! I need to stop shopping the thrift stores!!
I have started that also!! I have different reasons, but need the same results lol. Been a collector of things for many years, time to share, sending things to pet rescues that do fundraising, that’s a great cause. Every time I send a package I feel good about it. Yay me!
You go girl!!! I cleaned up my act a couple of years ago and it certainly makes life easier. I'm not the best "duster/cleaner" so having less to dust/clean has made everything simpler. 💗
I keep a storage bin in our garage that way every month I can rid something from our house. It's truly been therapeutic. I know it doesn't work for everyone, but I have a check list system that I've been using for years now. Not only does it keep me on organized, but also gives me a true sense of accomplishment at what I got done through all the chaos of keeping faithful to my way of eating, kids needs, homeschooling, etc...
Oh my goodness, I had to laugh at some of this. I, too, have been on a 'simplifying' time in my life. However, the type of glass/cup you drink out of MATTERS!!! 🤣😂 I think you will feel calmer with each area that you simplify, and the children feel it too.
Neisha you are so on point! ❤ With keto/carnivore lifestyle the itch to declutter and streamline feels natural. I set timers for tasks I know I am avoiding, 5/10/15 minutes makes a huge difference. I set it say I can do anything for 15 minutes and then go like a sprint. I use this for work tasks also.
Sweet! So much change you are embracing, but all toward a calmer existence. We hang to so many things, don't we? - usually for superficial emotional reasons. I'm working on the same goals so I thank you for the inspiration and the example -- how to get rid of kitchen appliances will be a tough one, after the second air fryer that I don't really like is gone! :) The more I can see clearly, the more I see that material possessions can so easily be burdens, stressors and traps. Ownership of anything is work. Blessings to you!
Thank you for this video!! I’m going to get rid of coats, and all clothes that no one wears in over a year. You have motivated me to de clutter. I love what you said about flat surfaces. Decluttering thise areas too. Thank you for all these ideas. I’ve been wanting to do this and didn’t know where to begin. Love love love YOU!!!
Oh , I love my mermaid collectibles I've had for 40 years now! Only good quality. Must look at the James C Christensen art/print "Sisters of the Sea".When matted and framed nicely, it is very pretty.
I did my deep cleaning this week, and this weekend I plan to tackle our spare bedroom where we kinda just stick stuff. It has Christmas boxes, old clothes we need to go through...just stuff. Most is to be donated. Then I need to actually finish painting it. Once that's done it should all just be maintenance for a while. I need to add working out again. Like you, I detest it. Loathe even. It's so tedious. I want to also start getting up earlier but I've never been a morning person. My kid is almost 30 so there's nothing to get me up and without that motivation I stay in bed. Even though I have new energy, it doesn't kick in until around noon lol
I’m like you in the regard if what goes in cups and what goes in glasses! 😊I definitely want my hot coffee in a mug an my iced coffee and drinks in a glass! Appreciate your channel. You remind me of when I was your age with 2 little ones. Mine were 3 yers apart. Had the boy first and daughter 2nd and I know what you’re going thru. I breast fed both till around 18 mo of age. I miss those days (the breast feeding). That’s when you had that close connection to your baby. I’m 72 now, so, its been a while. You’re doing the best thing for your babies, but I don’t have to tell you that!
Just did spring cleaning and decluttering, I love my house. I do it every quarter (have been since 2012). My ex-husband was somewhat of a pack rat and that lifestyle was so hard on me mentally. But it became much easier for me to do after watching Marie Kondo. Ahhh peace and bliss
Yes, life just happens as it does when kids are little. Mine are 14 and 18, and I never managed to be up before them. I had one that could hear a pin drop in his sleep. It helps to not “should” on yourself and just find a routine that works for you and your family. Unfortunately that made me a major night owl. I’ve also been in this “spring cleaning”. mode for the past few months. I’ve been purging, streamlining, and organizing all aspects of my life. And it feels so good!
Decluttering is so relieving. The clear surfaces rule is great. Makes everything look so clean. It’s also a great gateway to minimalism 😉 Seeing those clear surfaces gets the ball of simplifying rolling down hill.
Neisha, I’m working on organization & decluttering. I used to have way too many cups/mugs, too. It is better just having a few good ones. Love this kind of motivational video!
First, I have to reiterate how perfect this haircut/bang situation is on you. It is SO flattering! I firmly agree with what you're doing. I live in a small house with very limited storage, and need to do a big purge again, soon. It's tough because 6 months ago my dad moved out of the house he and my mom had lived in for 25 years, and I realized that while he and his new wife were going through things, it was too hard for him to just throw things out, so I agreed to take them. They have become 3 huge piles in my foyer, and I'd say only about 1/10 of the things actually possess sentimental value. I'm a teacher who has spring break in a week, and I'm going to go through everything and either toss, sell, keep or donate. My mental health drastically improves when I'm enjoying all the limited space in my small home as opposed to stepping over piles of crap.
I'm actually thinking about not having a real full sized oven anymore when we remodel this summer. Mainly due to the energy use vs. Instant pot or something else. We also do not have a microwave. We don't cook side dishes much so I don't need so much cooking space...
Thanks for the LMNT link, Neisha. I just used it! I’ve got a subscription with them but got a “last call” email that they are running out of the chocolate medley so I wanted to get a box. I like all 3 flavors in my coffee.
💌 love this Neisha! Thank you for the permission to let go of home decor! And the things I don’t need. Love your vids. Ps for peeps reading this … I’m in the phd community. (Highly recommend if you’re thinking of joining)
Hi Neisha There is a woman on here in Utube Her name is Diana in Denmark She has made loads of videos on how to have routines I came across her 4 or 5 years ago She still make videos she is very very good Good luck
congrats on decluttering. I've been doing it since 2020. If feels fantastic. and i have specific dinnerware for different food/beverages too. NOT WEIRD!
I am 75 and am getting rid of things my kids will just dumpsterize( all the tiny drawers of screws in the garage) when I die. So much to do. Have a few sentimental things (my grandmother's silver coffee service), a few baby clothes from kids and grandkids. I drink out of glass jars, so I have been purging cups. My oldest daughter and I talked about how freeing it is to get rid of *stuff*. Great video.
I too adapted my routines to my daughter’s needs when she was little. I used to think of this as letting go of myself rather than letting myself go. Somehow that particular reframing helped. And here’s a bonus thought for you, because it’s Thursday: someday, I promise, you will have plenty of Q-Tip time! For now, best wishes on your decluttering fun, which as you have pointed out, is never-ending... a gift that keeps on giving! 🎁👍🏽👏🏼🖖🙏💕❣️
I gave away my panini maker. I also have a pioneer woman crockpot I have never used. I gave away all decorations too. I'm the same with cups etc. I gave away tumblers.
I’ve been meal planning for a couple of years now. Makes life so much easier. If you have some elements of your meals ready to go then cooking later is so much easier. I also make food before I leave for work, leave it in the instant pot. When I get home, I heat it up or put it in the air fryer, make a side, or re-heat a side and serve. So good. I’ve been using my Instant Pot every day for something or other. I have 3 of them. I switch them out every couple of months. I have several Dutch ovens and I rarely use them. I’ve switched over in 2016 and I have been so much happier. It makes my life so much easier. I keep the others in my pantry area. I haven’t used my deep fryer in years and it is in my garage and I need to get rid of it too. I have been decluttering too. I started with my spices - not the spice cabinet but the newer spices near the stove. I have them in many places in the kitchen and other pantry areas. Too many. I got rid of a lot of expired spices, refilled the jars with the ones I am using and placed the larger containers down in the basement (in another pantry area). I am working on decluttering the garage and the basement. Then my linen closet and my closet. It is a slow process.
You, me- same page Neisha! I’ve been slowly decluttering and wow I feel lighter. Although I kept the throw pillows because we use them nightly to relax on our huge sectional. But I don’t change them out haha! ❤
Girl, I feel you on SO many levels right now, lol. Decluttering is so satisfying. You've inspired me to get rid of my 30 Starbucks cups and start using my Le Creuset again ❤
Amen! Whoop! Just what I needed for today! Oh my life seems to be spiraling! I wish I had you as a life coach for ALL the things girly! Thank you for this video! LYMI!
I just had my kitchen TOTALLY redone from studs up...and it's been almost a week..I been struggling BRINGING THINGS BACK IN! Your video hit home with me....I thought I was being lazy but I think I just don't want all the STUFF I took out of here back! I'm keeping my instant pot because I do HB eggs in it and when I eat yogurt I use it to make yogurt but I have room under my cabinet for it...Cups, tumblers need to be gone through PLUS FOUR coffee makers...keurig (giving away), 2 Nespressos and Jura Ena8 (bean to cup)....Those need my attention! Thank you so much for this video!
Great ideas! Less is more. I wish I would have done that a long time ago. One thing I have been doing for years is starting my day with a pint of water with a little ACV, and for the last few years I've added two drops of iodine and some electrolyte drops.
Bravo…. Soooooo liberating to purge STUFF! Lol on the iced coffee in a mug …definitely need the right cup for the right beverage. Love from sunny Florida ☀️❤️
Neisha, you have got to try Indigo Nilli's carnivore breading recipe asap!!! Season to taste. I made cajun fried shrimp & southern fried pork chops!! So delicious, my hubby said I could serve them to anyone & they would not know they were carnivore!!!😋😋😋
