That reminds me, last fall I had a virtual appt with my CPAP Dr. I told him I’m sitting in the pig hut and I turned my phone to show the litter of 1 week old piglets. He laughed and said that was a first for him to have a patient and baby pigs in an appointment with him 🐷😂 Lorie 😊

Great animals! Those pigs are sooo cute 🐷🐖 I don't have any animals yet, the neighbor's dog is a menace. I'm saving up for electric netting so chickens can free range somewhat. After surveying one fence line I plan to get pigs 😊

I grew up in 1.8 acres. We algae always had 50 plus hogs and dozens of chickens. Most all of our animals roamed free during the day! It was awesome! For now, I only have a dog and 13 young chicks.

Yes, we have chickens and pigs. And I, like you, take care of them like pets - per my son. My job, as I see it, is to take the best care of them as I can - till I don't, meaning butcher. I have a momma hen raising her three littles, another hen setting on 7 eggs and another that is broody, but I don't have another nursery to put her in, she'll have to wait her turn. People do not realize they each have their own personality and are great fun. Hope to add goats in the future. Thank you for sharing all you do Leisa. 🙏🙌❤️

Awesome! All of it. We raise our chicks in a 3 stage process. The last step is in what we call a babypen. It is up next to the others. When the storms started coming i decided to merge them.. only one kept jumping back; clipped and all good. (Step 2 and 3 gets them in sight of each other) Zero issues other than that. When the rains stop gotta fix that house. Wish i could do it today because i am off (family was here), but it is too wet still.

Cute little piggy's, cute chickens too. Live TV, love it. I believe the less stress on the animal, when being butchered, will taste a lot better. I'm in a small city, I did look into getting chickens, but no we cannot. I get eggs from a Hutterite colony, so.the price is good.

Sausage and gravy. We have 15 hens and one Roo. We have a mixed flock and a flock of Plymouth Barred Rocks (7) and one Americana. She was almost killed by the other flock. So she was in isolation while the rocks feathered out. Then the went to a separate coop.

Leisa. For my daughters 13th birthday, we got her a Pot Belly pig. She was so cute. We named her Maggie May. The pig was only supposed to get to be about 30 pounds max. We paid a lot of money for this animal. This pig was getting so big on just a tiny amount of porcine food. That was the year I was pregnant with my son. One day she got out of the house. As you are probably well aware, pigs can run like the wind and jump really high.... I am literally barefoot and pregnant running around the house with a broom trying to get her back in. This was in Shaker Heights Ohio... 😧 Turns out we literally bought a pig in a poke. She was a regular farm pig. We gave her to one of our employees. Last time we heard she was well over 100 pounds when they gave her away. I wonder how she tasted...

Hi Leisa! I love your little piggies! And all the other babies. My baby chicks are growing well except for one. She is perfectly happy and healthy. I think that they mixed in a banty and she is fine with the rest. They're not picking on her. They are Easter Eggers. I think that I may have overdone it with getting 8 new chicks. I've read that they produce 4 eggs each week. Times 8 chicks. 32 eggs PER DAY. I have some neighbors that I can give some eggs to, so I might be getting my own sign ready to sell some eggs. Plus I still have 5 older chickens and 3 are still laying. Tomorrow I'm planting the garden. I'm planning a freezer meal for dinner tomorrow night---homemade Salisbury steak, mashed potatoes and gravy and broccoli. I'm also cleaning out my basement. Yeah, not too much going on here. Today I rearranged my new Thrive Life shelves.

Thank you Leisa for sharing. I waited until my boys were grown and i retired to start my dream… cant do too much on 2 acres (most wooded) but put in 13 raised beds and i have 3 spoiled buffs with 4 chicks inside waiting.. we had a shed built for our growing hens and plan on rabbits. Would love miniature cows or babydoll sheep but may be pushing it with my neighbors… we get our meat from a local farm but in MA - very expensive due to massive regulations… Now that im not working, i cant justify Whole Foods (whole paycheck) … BTW NONE of my 11 neighbors have a garden nor preparing… could be a problem down the road🐥🐥🐇🐇

Best thumbnail of the day!! So cute, and looks like food for the table. I would love to be able to raise my own pork. Growing up we had one in particular that I will forever remember, her name was Dirty Sally and she escaped her pen during an ice storm. Chased that big sow, slipping, sliding, and falling everywhere. Finally got her between the front porch railings and my body, she swung her head around and tried to take a bite out of me. I backed up and went in the house and told Mom that my brother was going to have to catch her, I was done, lol. I have chickens and love watching Chicken TV, the dust bathing is hilarious and fun. Thanks for sharing!

We have enough property for chickens. However, we are zoned to only have 4 hens. AND they must be in the back yard. May not be free ranged. MUST have their pen 20 feet away from neighbors property line. Most of our property is the side yards. AND, that is the one place we may NOT house the chickens..So, It's not worth the hassle. We have 22 oak trees on our property. And not one where the girls would have to live. I'm not doing that to birds, here in Florida!

I can have chickens in the city that I live in, but I have dogs and a small yard, so I don't think that it's a good combination. We don't eat a lot of eggs, so it isn't a big problem for us when the price of eggs goes up. I've got a freeze dryer on layaway and once it arrives, I'll start stockpiling eggs to freeze dry them. Then I won't have to worry about the price of eggs skyrocketing.

I can’t have chickens, but my exhusband is right outside city limits so he can. He has supplied my eggs for months now. He has actualiy had our daughter call and ask if I need more because he has so many. When people wanted to make it so we could have chickens, the city decided to focus on a pickle ball court that someone had in town. It’s crazy how they keep shifting the focus. They do it with our water too, since our town has so many epa violations. Every time we bring it up, they change the topic. The mayor even decided to no longer donthe town meetings on fb live anymore. Sorry, a little off topic there. If I could I would have chickens and a mini cow.
