Scalping the lawn in the spring is essential for a bermudagrass lawn. Even with my Bluemuda, I perform a scalp every spring. This year I take the bluemuda scalp to the level of a bermuda lawn scalp.

Guy down the street has Bermuda and it's starting to run and he cares for it. The neighbors across the street also have Bermuda but it looks like a garden at the moment.

I have so much construction debris that I'm digging up before my scalp. I'm going to have to level this season. You're KBG was popping green at the start! Whew!

Finally done, so much damn work LOL. 30+ bags of clippings off my 8k sq ft. This year im NOT letting it grow above 1" in the fall.

Glad you didn’t give up on the Bluemuda. I started my own Bluemuda journey last fall so I understand the frustrations that come along with it. Hoping by this fall it will be in completely. I’m in the very bottom of the transition zone so I’m a little worried about the summer heat. However, you my go to on this so keep posting vids.

I was on the verge of killing off the kbg too. I said what the heck and threw a little Nitrogen on it and started watering it and it popped back to life. Now, like you, I'm thinking I'm gonna keep it.

Glad to see you are keeping at it! We are doing to bermuda in June /july after the pre emergent is done and the KBG in September. Figure it's best to tackle the weeds and issues first

Very good thing you did a Pre and Post Scalp before the Actual Scalp. It has been proven to assist in green up much faster that way. Only thing you missed was setting the lawn on fire in between the Pre and Post. If you had done that, it would have increased green up by 34%

New research shows applying fire to KBG turns it into Tall Fescue. I can't have that.

I loved your intro to this video . I don't know much about Bermuda but I do love the way it looks when it is cut low. I'm in the Pacific Northwest South of Seattle. This is the 2nd year of using a real mower for me a 6 blade. Found out the optimal cutting height For my mower is 15 mm 5/8". I was cutting at 3/4 of an inch year round and took it down to 15 mill and it made a big difference in the look. I'm going to do a reno on the front yard this fall and have purchased some " 5 Iron " P.R. seed blend . Thinking of adding some Blubank Everest or Mazama or all 3 .

Thank you so much!. The difference between 3/4 and 5/8 does not seem like it would make a difference but it does. For your KBG, I would look at NTEP data from your area on the various cultivars and pick one that scores high on disease resistance. The wetter weather you have can lead to an increase in disease pressure. So finding a grass that is less susceptible will help save costs on fungicides and give you a better looking lawn. The lower HOC will also help since the turf can dry out easier.
