Turn pink latch to open.
Push blue drawer to close.
Red spring forces the latch towards the drawer.
Green springs force the drawer outwards.
It works better if adding a damper.

Love the locking mechanism. But surely the spring can be combined with drawer telescopic slides for slow open.

It's not a good mechanism. Without some kind of a damper, the drawer would just slam back at high speed.

I could see this being a useful mechanism. Edit: actually this would be even more useful it it had a damper at the end of its stroke.

Yes and a better locking system, like used in cars or something, where you don't have an extra button but just push the drawer in a little and it unlocks.

@@Wilson84KS just thinking about it now... if my memory is correct, they do have this locking mechanism on draw slides, albeit without the spring loading. I'll have a quick look online.

If coil springs are not good please use spiral torsion springs as a self-retracting metal tape measure.
