I’m sorry but there is NO WAY!! I would ever trust my life or jeopardize my family in anyway by EDC’N This gun. Especially when there are far more Reliable firearms to choose from even excluding Glock.

Your free to make your own choices my friend, I’m simply giving my side I’ve run 4,000 rounds through my Prodigy with 3 fail to extracts in all those rounds over 3650 without a single fail which makes my prodigy on par with the most reliable firearms on earth. And the most reliable handgun I own. It beats my Glock 17, my ZEV OZ9 , my HK vp9, my FN 509, my CZ P07 and my Ruger SR 1911 Koenig but thanks for watching !

By the way I’m assuming your pretty new to the 2A community so I want to give some friendly advice since I see that EDC & protection of your family matters to you. You should never trust any fire arm because of the name you should never carry anything EDC regardless of its reputation until you have personally trained with and fired that gun at least 1000 times in my opinion some say more some less The idea is that you fire the weapon enough to trust its reliability. With any production firearm there is always quality control concerns and there are a lot of new gun owners who simply are inexperienced and ignorant of the protocols and precautions they should take the first thing you should do when you buy a gun is to read the owners manual and field strip and clean and inspect and most likely that is what the owners manual will tell you and then it will tell you there is a break in. Most times and what that means is the gun has a higher probability of failure until the break in period has been met these people going out and buying a Springfield armory prodigy and taking it straight to the range and fire it are very inexperienced ! And just to get views online they make a video of the gun failing during the break in period and then people like you watch it and because of your lack of knowledge on the subject you think the entire model is bad or unsafe which is complete and utter garbage 🗑 and that’s not an insult it’s just simply the truth because no experienced firearm owner would buy any gun and strap it to their waist and say I have my new EDC! It’s got a good review online!! So I know I’m good 🙂 which is the same as saying a guns bad because of a handful of dishonest bad reviews.

@@americantrucker9813 I 100% agree with what your saying. Just because some people have issues doesn't mean the handgun is going to be a bad gun. There are just as many videos of people buying them and taking them out immediately and shooting them and having all these failures and sending them back to be "fixed" honestly I'm convinced that when they send them back to springfield all they do if shoot 500 rounds out of it to finish the break in period. Then clean it lube it and send it back 😅 either way. Honestly I feel like all the big name youtubers want to hate it because it's not a staccato. And that's the only reason. I have the 4.25 and I wanted to test it myself so when I got it, I didn't even clean it just went straight to the range and shot 300 rounds through it with no issues. Still haven't cleaned it yet. I Wana see how long I can go before I have these so called "issues" everyone else is having

@@Dclawspker this honestly is an amazing platform it’s the best a 1911 can be which is why STI, Atlas, Nighthawk have become million dollar companies because this platform rocks ! The Prodigy is hands down the best value you get a solid steel frame and slide of excellent quality and a Excellent barrel and excellent polymer grip if that’s all they sent than you’d still be agreed considering the cost to build your own 2011. I’ve ran 15,000 rounds through mine and it’s a sewing machine without fail. I had to use it to put down a buck hit by a car and it’s all around an excellent EDC ! And I appreciate you taking the time to share if you read through the comments on my channel, you will see the majority of people are like you and me, and have no issues with our Springfield prodigies

Ive ran my barnes pd stuff and winchester defender, also some Hornady crit defense as well. No issues at all. People dont understand 1911s at all! 😂 You have to break them in and tune for the ammo you shoot!
@americantrucker9813
@americantrucker9813 Год назад
Most people didn’t want the prodigy to work they just wanted to validate their paying for a Staccato which I don’t understand to be honest! A tuned prodigy is as reliable as a $6,000 atlas Nyx

@non-binaryjesus Год назад
@@americantrucker9813 you are 100% correct. I mean I love my lp Chiraq and this 5in prodigy is just slightly beneath it. They are just mad that they can get a production gun that is good without paying 3k and waiting 6-8 weeks! 😂 You really can't compare a prodigy to an atlas or staccato. Apples and oranges my friend! Have a good day

Hornady critical defense are really good rounds. With a little polishing on the feed ramp and just putting rounds through the gun makes all the difference. Honestly it's a great gun. It just has a break in period for the failure to feed with hollow points. The frame to slide fitment is superb for a non hand fit production gun.

I couldn’t agree more with everything that you said partner! And Hornady, critical defense, 124 grain are my EDC rounds ! My prodigy loves them, but it’s not picky at loves everything. Thanks for watching & sharing.

@RickheadWashington Год назад
@American Trucker I think people just judge this gun too soon. I like to tinker with my guns anyways. So even if I have to polish a feed ramp and disconnecter no big deal. I like to make my guns better. And it helps me learn about my guns.
@americantrucker9813
@americantrucker9813 Год назад
@@RickheadWashington again I definitely agree! Fundamentally, though, The Prodigy is a GEN 2 staccato, and most of the people, talking crap or saying that The Prodigy is junk. The platform is a failure, and you should go with staccato, which is so funny and ironic at the same time, but like any production gun, do you have to break them in it’s really that simple. And with any 1911 you have to get it tuned in properly and once you do you very quickly understand why the platform has survived over 100 years

If it's any consolation or help, I have 15 year old premium defense hollow point 9mm that I occasionally test and it all fires, feeds and ejects perfectly. As long as you keep it in stable conditions I would have no problem hanging on to "old ammo" for defense.

I appreciate the insight! Thank you for watching and sharing! I have always tried to keep my carry ammo fresh because I do EDC and that ammo gets pretty dirty, because it is subject to the conditions outside and I have had mini very reliable rounds fail after carrying it for 1 year so I just play it safe and keep it fresh

Not at the moment. I’m stuck with it until Springfield Armory sends me the RMR plate…. The only thing I dislike about the Firearm, I’d rather have a Dedicated RMR cut. But honestly the RomeoZero isn’t very expensive I don’t recommend it simply because the Lens is polymer and despite Sig claiming it’s Scratch resistant this thing is terribly scratched up from the Very first Shots fired ! After spraying some lens cleaner to remove the copper dust (thanks to The Viewing hole on the Prodigy barrel ) it still scratched the crap out of it ! I have a Holosun 508T it’s been through over 12,000 rounds and the lens looks brand new so that plus my other Holosun Optics I’m a Holosun Fan and Highly recommend!

I opened the mag lips a little a few days ago my gun runs flawless I also ordered a spring day one when I found out the issues so I put that in I’m loving this gun I’ll also now carry it for edc after 700+ without any failures
@americantrucker9813
@americantrucker9813 2 года назад
Awesome! I’m glad to hear it buddy ! I’m gonna venture out and say the Weak Recoil spring coupled with New Magazines it’s giving enough Slide Speed to Force those rounds out of the mag and up the Steep Ramp. I compared my Prodigy Ramp with my Koenig 1911 and the Steep angle on the Prodigy is Way Steeper and The Ruger Koenig 1911 has a Stronger Recoil Spring and it’s a Competition Shooting gun only.

@americantrucker9813
@americantrucker9813 2 года назад
Thank you and you can check the comments on my channel the overwhelming majority of these guns are like mine ! The problems seem to be in the 5inch model and it seems to be too weak of a recoil spring, i’ve wanted a 2011 for years so I can relate to you on that and I can say to you with certainty you have nothing to worry about this is an excellent gun and it has a lifetime warranty so if any issues arise Springfield armory would most definitely take care of you I only started sharing my experience because of all the negativity it seemed pretty unfair to me because of how amazing this gun is and I wanted people like you to have all the information to make the best choice possible for you so hopefully this content was able to help you and I haven’t made any modifications except for the screws in the grip I stripped them so I had to sand them down too fix them but that was my fault not the gun I’ll be getting replacement screws eventually.

Honestly my 5in runs amazing. The issue I found was why i brought it home, it was so dirty. I mean filthy from the factory 😂. i just recently got the prodigy 4.25 a couple weeks ago and before i shot it i read so many negative reviews and got a little worried but, i ran 3 different factory loads at different weights and 3 different reloads i make at 124 and 147, around 650 total before a cleaning , all ran flawlessly even the blue polymer coated 147's i primarily run in steel comps with a tuned up 17. really impressed with the prodigy. i did order staccato mags , i haven't got them yet but the duramags have had no problems , i heard its kinda hit and miss with those tho thats why i didnt invest in extra factory mags. its not an edc for me but thats only because of size and weight , im pretty sure i trust this gun its just not the edc for me. just waiting for my sro mounting plate
@americantrucker9813
@americantrucker9813 Год назад
I have about 10 of the factory mags and they have all been flawless so I wouldn’t be afraid there but thanks for sharing your story I’m not surprised 99% of people I have talked to have had no issues with The Prodigy people just like to see negative things these days that’s the world we live in allot of us know that this gun is built on the STIGEN2 platform so to see anything bad about The Prodigy would mean that the staccato P is junk as well.

Good to see yours is running well. Have yet to have an issue with FMJ. But my SA Prodigy, and I can only speak for my experience, ran into issues with the Sig center fire hollow points not once but on two different range visits. Now I haven’t done anything to it like polish the feed ramp or change the recoil springs (20lb came in yesterday). We’ll see how she runs with the new springs.

@americantrucker9813
@americantrucker9813 2 года назад
And how many FMJs did you run through yours before you ran the FMJs? I’m still using the original recoil spring the only malfunctions I ran into with mine was the Extractor needed retuned (tightened up) I suspect now it was the red dot because the screws run directly against the Extractor probably restricting movement. But mines over 1000 rounds so it’s broke in pretty good and runs super super smooth I have 7 magazines from Springfield armory And I haven’t had an issue with any of them which makes me think that people shooting the magazines are compensating for a different issue just because I would figure I would have had at least one bed back by now but I don’t know I can’t say for sure
