About 2 times a season I have to run around and remove all the grass that grows over and around my sprinkler heads in order to prevent the heads from becoming trapped or obstructed by growth. And despite my best efforts, every fall I have to search for my heads as they inevitably becoming buried by grass, weeds and vegetation, sometimes forever lost.
This year I found a cool solution called Sprinkler Buddy which is like a dog cone for your irrigation heads. It fits snugly around your sprinkler and funnels the grass away from your heads, preventing them from being blocked, and making it easy for you to find them so they don't get hammered by your aerator.
I love innovative solutions to problems and this one fits the bill so I am sharing it with you in hopes that it solves a problem for you as well.

+Sprinkler Buddy I like to share products I find that solve a problem. It was a no-brainer to share Sprinkler Buddy. :) I have a few more heads that need some Sprinkler Buddy love, hence the reorder. :)

Love this idea. I use 3” dia pvc and cut to 4” long. With a block of wood on top I tap one flush with the top. It works nice

Rachio customer because of your review. very happy with the product. Might take a look at these, but mulch(pine straw) is the culprit in my yard mostly.

+Ed Kelly Yeah, I really am impressed with what my Rachio can do. I hope all connected devices put a fraction of the love that Rachio put into their product. The Sprinkler Buddy looks like the solution to my disappearing/blocked heads problem. Ordered another 7 pack. Just need to install them. :)

Nice idea except I have to dig up and remove and replace every sprinkler head to put those on. It would seem they would have thought of some way to open it and place around the head without having to dig up and remove each head. I have several dozen heads and while I won’t need this on every one, it would still be a daunting job to dig up the ones that the grass grows over. I think I’ll wait for the new and improved version that you can place around the head without digging it up. The other “con” that I see is that it offers no or minimal protection to the head like say a concrete donut. Anyway nice idea if you just have one or two to do.

I found a few cheap plastic cooking funnels at Dollar Store & cut it to fit, it will last as long as my sprinkler heads then I'll replace both at same time! Also unique in that I have only found yellow, red or blue at Dollar type store, but that helps me find my Sprinklers easier in case the tough crab grass or clover creeps over the top as I let it grow longer in the summer to hold the moisture into the lawn long in this 100+ degree climate of So.Cal

The problem with the dollar store funnels, they are made of a hard rigid material. They aren't easy to cut to fit. If you accidentally run them over with a mower tire, they split. They become very brittle in a short period of time because they don't have the UV protection they would need, being exposed to the elements day in and day out. When you funnels fail, try a Sprinkler Buddy, you'll be glad you did!

Great great video, one of the best I've ever seen. I was skeptical when I saw the 7 minute run time with what looked like 2 minutes of content, but you didn't waste time and you had useful content all the way through, thanks. That was impressive how your studio voice over synced so well with your video footage shot in the field, nice work. Here's one constructive suggestion for you to make your videos just a little more professional sounding. You don't want to say "uh." Listen to this video and count how many times you say "uh." Then make it your goal in future videos to reduce/eliminate that count.

QUESTION 1: Yes, we do have a inground irrigation system where i live. Unfortunately, 7-8 years ago my dad was digging one day and he hapenned to dig right above the water pipe that goes to the sprinklers. He ended up cutting the pipe open and the system had a big leak. It is still broken to this day because my dad has completely forgotten about it. One day when im older, ill fix it for him if he didnt get it fixed before. QUESTION 2: Yes we did have the problem of grass growing up and around a few sprinklers when we went to turn them on for the first time in the summer. However it wasnt a big issue because we knew exactly where all of the sprinklers are and we just unblocked their path.

My issue is my donuts get muddy and then make my sidewalk look dirty, any solutions there?

Don't loosen the head to adjust the left stop. Unscrew the top and rotate the rotor to the desired position then reinstall the rotor. Then adjust right stop with small flathead screwdriver. And you could try compacting soil around the head so it doesn't settle and not have to worry about you landscaper hitting with his mower while you wait for mother nature to settle the head.

This Video was made over 3 years ago. OP how have they held up all this time? Have they cracked I know the sun ruins plastic like no tomorrow or even warp them. I hope he makes an updated video
@TheMadHermit
@TheMadHermit 5 лет назад
Great question. They have held up nicely. They are made of what feels like a rubberized plastic if that makes sense. So it is flexible yet strong. None have broken or torn, nor would I have expected them too as the material used felt like a quality product out of the box.

I don’t get it. I have an extremely dense st Augustine lawn in Florida. To find my sprinklers I need to turn them on but they have never been prevented from popping up. They just come right up through even the densest growth.

I have a low pressure irrigation system. My heads barely pop-up if they are not covered. Capiche!

Consider yourself lucky! I own a lawn care business in Florida. Sprinkler heads not popping up through the grass is a common problem. Especially when one hasn't used their irrigation system often,

Hi Lee, I'm the lawn care professional that invented Sprinkler Buddy. If installed properly, they are designed to be mowed over by straddling over them with the mower tires, now that one can see them with the Sprinkler Buddy. I have yet to destroy a sprinkler head with my Sprinkler Buddy on them. Try a pack, you'll be glad you did! I've been in the lawn care business 20+ years, hope to retire soon! lol Learn more @ www.sprinklerbuddy.com Available on Amazon Thanks! Leo D. Gauthier III

Concrete donuts quickly sink into the ground, making your sprinkler head invisible once again. Sprinkler Buddy keeps the sprinkler heads visible long term while requiring little maintenance for years to come.
