Broccoli Sprouts contain up to 50 times as much antioxidant as mature broccoli. As a result they have become extremely popular since that discovery - back in 1997. Growing Broccoli Sprouts is very similar to growing Leafy Sprouts, but there are a few notable differences. In this 10 minute video we show you everything you need to grow the best Broccoli Sprouts possible. These instructions will work perfectly for any non-mucilaginous Brassica - Radish, Cabbage, some Mustards, Tatsoi and Turnip. Happy Sprouting!

Oh, my gosh, thank you for this fun video. I am sitting here eating my first batch of broccoli sprouts. I had to laugh when you pointed out the little fuzzy things on the sprouts were not mold. I said the same thing to my husband. "Oh, no, they're molded, they have wings!" LOL. Love your videos. Keep up the great work and fabulous advice!

It would be helpful if you would label it Day 1, Day 2, etc. so it's easier to keep up, also I forgot to order the mass reducing tool so my first crop may not be primo grade.

Listen I have been about to pull my hair out trying to spout broccoli. It's nothing at all like wheat. I thought I had bad/old seeds. Some would spout and some would not. Not to mention they spout very slow...those that did spout. This video has helped me so much. I have confidence to try again!! Thank you for uploading this.

Make your own respirating bag by getting your plastic bag of choice, like a produce bag or Ziploc bag, and poke 2 or 3 dozen holes in it using a straight pin or needle. Dry your sprouts or produce well, put a piece of dry paper towel in with the sprouts or produce to absorb any excess moisture, removing and replacing the paper towel if it gets really wet. I've been doing this for a few years, and my produce lasts much longer in the fridge than it used to.

Thank you very, very, very much for this! I usually do lentils and beans with the mason jar method (love it!) but alfalfa seeds go through the holes... Radish and broccoli seeds tend to clump into a large sprout sausage! You have convinced me to get one of these Easy Sprouters! Love your site too! Thank you for the vid!

THREE TABLESPOONS is the instruction in the video - the instructions provided in the Sprouter calls for 1/4 to 1/2 cup for broccoli sprouts. 1/4 cup = 4 tablespoons.

for almost ANY seed, sprouting offers better nutritional and anti-oxidant benefits than growing seeds months into adulthood, for often only a partially edible plant with an awful awful lot of water - and sprouts are entirely edible, do not leach anything from soil, and yes, collected rain water can easily be used - the watering/draining is all about cooling the sprouts temperature and clean off any loose enzymes a couple times a day. i love sproting and my tortoises, bearded dragon and 3 cats

1 Can I break up the mass with my fingers? 2 I am confused if sprouts are supposed to be kept in darkness at first or it does not matter. I find different info on different websites.

Great video. Here's an idea to make the rinsing process easier. I swish the easy sprouter in a mesh fruit bag with holes . . .like a tangerine bag. By manually spinning the container in a clockwise circular manner, the water drains easily and more rapidly. And then you can eliminate the echo sound. I suggest redoing this excellent video using the mesh bag method. 😜

I would like to see a video of the mesh bag method for the Easy Sprouter because it did not work that well for me yet... :)

Yup, and the mesh bag idea is on the "instructions" provided in the package. The Sprouter contains the WORST instructions!!! And I've been sprouting since 2009 in trays.

From the UK. Can anyone tell me if these sprouters are still being made? Everywhere I look, these seem to be sold out. The only source seems to be sites like ebay. I would be grateful to have this mystery solved. It's annoying because I wanted to add to those I have by about a dozen. Thanks.

Hello, I bought one of the Easy Sprouters and may buy more. But in this video you said you soak Broccoli for 12 hours. In the insert that comes with the sprouter, is says to soak Broccoli for 6-8 hours and that oversoaking can cause fermentation. Have you had any problems with that? Just want to make sure b/f I begin. Thanks alot for uploading. Very helpful videos.

So, if I do my 12-hour math correctly, if you first soak the seeds Monday morning, then on Saturday night you should be harvesting?

Hi, why do my broccoli sprouts go sour if I wash them every day? I do it just in the morning each day and they go bad in a few days and become rotten. I spin them very thoroughly after every wash, yet this still happens. The humidity in my home is about 45-50%. I keep them in room temp of 70-72F.

I love my plants and i woant to them to have humidity durring im in work 10 hurs, and I bought easygreen microfarm. Earlier my sprouts die becouse of thirsty, i love my plants and i choose robot to care for them, i think of them when i,m in work , i now know that they have water to grow and sun to live. This is zen too, becouse plants isnt a stone, its living, and have to be care.

This is an old video but I just wanted to say it's far less work growing broccoli sprouts in tiered sprouting tray systems, rather than this or the jar method. I've been eating 100gm broccoli sprouts everyday for the past 6 months. If you are sprouting mung beans, which are more susceptible to rotting or mushing up than broccoli, the jar or Easy Sprouter is the best method as you can thoroughly rinse the seeds everyday.
@101rosebud

+Meld Magic I use both a tray and the easy sprouter. Take a look at my comment above on how I make the easy sprouter much easier to use! 😜

The best imho is to go for sprouts without roots choped off, green color- full of chlorophyll, grown in earth- full of minerals absorbed from dirt, not just empty water
@RobstarLight
@RobstarLight 9 лет назад
to hear this without the echo simply listen through a music center with one channel/speaker switched off OR use ear bud head phones and listen with just one ear. The problem (I doubt intentional) is that the left and right channels went out of phase. weird. Anyway - as for the process - jeez - they are like gold dust when all that time has to go into making them. But thanks anyway - was interesting.

9 years later and the instructions in the sprouter are still incredibly confusing and poorly laid out. And this video is still the best you've put out? You really should make it more clear and maybe have a timeline of how many times you're going to soak, rinse, explain the difference between those two and if you should or should not put the dome lid on while they are rinsing? for the 12 hour period. And the echo.. good grief. But PLEASE update the instructions with product. They are SO confusing.

why not just simply plant them? and after 5 days take them out, wash and eat it? isn't it more natural and full of minerals? I don't get it you can easily have big pot and 5 row of sprout plant at separate days. and you will have fresh sprouts each day!

Sprouting is a zen experience. Robots don't get zen - nor can they communicate love to the growing plants. This speaks to why machines do not produce sprouts of the same quality as a human who loves sprouting.

In your sprout broccoli vertically video. The excessive rinsing at the end to remove the hulls is unnecessary ...you are just washing the nutrients down the drain😢🙏💗⚘️☀️☀️. Excessive rinsing of any leavy vegetable is soo unnecessary and is removing all nutrients down the drain.
